NRI Trading in India Guide

Non-resident Indians (NRIs) can invest in the Indian stock market on repatriation and non-repatriation basis. NRIs are permitted to trade in Equity, Equity F&O, and Currency F&O at BSE and NSE exchanges. NRIs can also invest in Mutual Funds, NCD, IPO, G-Sec, and T-bills.

For trading or investing on a repatriation basis, an NRI requires NRE PIS Bank Account.
For trading or investing on non- repatriation basis, an NRI requires NRO Non-PIS Bank Account. This account can be used to trade in F&O without CP Code or PIS.
An NRI has to open a trading and a demat account to invest in the Indian Stock Market.
NRIs are permitted to trade in Currency Derivatives.
NRIs are not allowed to trade in Equity Intra-day and Commodities.
