Today was first day of tendering https://www.nseindia.com/market-data/tender-issue-information?symbol=AJANTPHARM&type=Active
BB issue is 11.2 lac shares. And on 1st itself nearly 38 lac shares are tendered. Making the BB issue subscribed more than 3x on 1st day. But note that, for retail reserved category, not much shares were tendered. This high subscription is due to big investor (more than 2lac) tendering. You can see high numbers in QIB and NII.
@suneel: that information cannot be known in any buyback. Above link will show information about "Individual Investor" bidding and that contains retail investor (below 2 lakh amount) plus above 2 lakh amount investors also. So only retail category bidding can't be known.
We have introduced Buyback Profit Calculator. Please check the tab on top of the page and share your feedback. We enabled it only for TCS Buyback for now. We will enable it for other buybacks soon.
@team chittorgarh: its good calculator, giving nice info about expected profits as per expected AR and share price after buyback. Most range of AR is taken so good to compare also. Else AR can be taken as input data to give one output entry but here showing all data for all AR gives good info at one place for compare also. Good job done.
I couldn't understand what below means in "assumptions". it has no role in this calculation since data shown is as per all expected AR. "The Profit and loss analysis table is based on assumption that lesser than 50% of retail investors participate in Buyback. "
This data given under this, also has not much relevance i think, anyways doesn't matter : "TCS Buyback Retail Acceptance Ratio"
kudos to the team for creating such a nice calculator. Pls also add that the profit portion from buyback is free from taxes and profit from shares not sold in buyback would be liable for taxes.

Some so called Guru gives extremely gloomy scenario to each and every ipo/stock, recent example is TCS, off course you will face backlash from others, if you don't present any rationale or don't warn well in advance when people were entering. And then they says that here people don't respect. Off course people here respect and worship the real knowledge/talent and unbiased analysis/opinion, have seen it here on this forum. Someone says from tomorrow people will book profit, there will be lower circuit, etc etc, and in weak market sentiments these comments doesn't help. You have to the balance the negative with the some positives. Everyone must be knowing by then that stock market is momentum based, runs on sentiments and herd mentality. God help these people.
if operator play happens and i get trapped, i will hold these shares In high liquidity stocks like TCS operator play is quite difficult in my opinion as liquidity is huge and there are many investors who are anxious to press the buy button on good stocks available at a discount
If it comes to 3150(operator play and not due to general market correction) and infy remains at 1700 levels then i will shift my position from Infy to TCS and i have considerable stake in Infy currently
I Purchased shares today through ICICI Direct but they are showing Security Projection date as 24th Feb 2022. Does it mean I'm still eligible for the BuyBack. While Shares will be in my account on 24th, will I be sharedolder on the Record date of 23rd Feb 2022
@sunil - yes you'll be eligible. What counts is shares in your demat account. The equities are delivered in demat account in T+2 days, i.e since you bought on 21st, the shares will be in your demat on 23rd as required under terms of buyback.
if the shares come to your demat account on 23rd, you will be eligible for buyback. If they get credited on 24th, you will not be eligible for the buyback
Kindly check with your broker why projection is 24th when the standard procedure is t+2( ideally it should be 23rd)
Please like the comment if you find the info helpful
@lokes bro what will u do with your shares ....will u sell them tomorrow or day after tomorrow to buy back again ..or u will continue to hold irrespective of price movement...thanks
@have faith: as i mentioned earlier, selling tomorrow may be riskier and may depend on broker too so better everyone should be sure about his broker that the broker will not remove shares by 23rd evening if they sell tomorrow (as it happens with some broker) then you may not be eligible for buyback. But if broker is removing shares from your demat on 24th then its fine. Selling on 23rd will be safe in all cases normally. In my opinion, from some weeks, tcs was holding above 3700 due to buyback only, and in next 2 days it should go down upto 3550-3600 at least minimum, rest depends on market movement also. And I will keep holding my shares and will not sell them in next 2 day and i may buy some shares if getting around/below 3500 rs on/after 23rd feb and then i may sell later, whatever buying extra, if getting price around 3900.
Settled with just 2*49 shares though had chance for 7*49 as somehow felt risky of low AR and falling share price. Hope minimum 50% AR and share price stays above 3500 as i bought just for buyback purpose 😀

I have 59 shares of TCS. 44 in one Demat and 15 in another. Both demat are connected to same PAN. So, In which category it will be considered? Thank you everyone in advance.
Ksrk sir, lokes sir, If i sell on ex date(21st) or ex date+1 ( 22nd, recorddate-1), the shares will not be removed from my dmat on 23rd as i use zerodha and upstox and not eATM. Would i be eligible for buyback and considered my shares recorded?

Thanks for correcting. Sorry, I mean my trade day of selling not ex date. So if i sell on 21st -> it will remove on 23rd from demat at 11am around. Would i still be considered for buyback. if i sell on 22nd -> stocks will be in demat on 23rd. I should be considered right?

>>>So if i sell on 21st -> it will remove on 23rd from demat at 11am around. Would i still be considered for buyback.
Yes, you will be considered for buyback but please be mindful of this below case as well. Sometimes there is an issue like short selling happened because of which there is rarely an extra day taken for settlement. [You can find more details of this rare case on zerodha s site as well]
So if someone wants to be extra extra sure then just sell it T+2 with ex-date in mind Or in other words , sell before T+3 of record date.
496.7. SnipperRaj|| Link|February 18, 2022 11:34:28 AM
I didnt get you. If I am selling, why short delivery will happen. I know i have stocks in my demat. I will be able to deliver to buyer on T+2 if sell on T+0. Even if there is short delivery ( which is technically not possible when being seller i have shares), I will get an extra day for settlement , which is good for me .
My question was simple, if i sell on 21st, the stock will for sure remove from my demat on 23rd 11 am. Will it be considered for buyback? Again re-thinking it, I think now it will not be considered for buyback . On seller side, on T+2 , it will be removed and hence wont be recorded . Its better to sell on 22nd.

@snipetraj don't sell on 21, shares would get debited on or before 23 and you will lose on buyback
for 22nd
i am not 100% sure but i think shares will be debited on 24th and therefore you should be eligible for buyback but again i am not really sure on this so do research on this before taking any call
@snipperRaj: if you sell on 21st, then 100% not eligible for buyback no matter which broker you are using. if you sell on 22nd, then also its risky in case of buybacks, where sometimes if you sell on ex date then you are not eligible as seen many times before with multiple brokers. Buybacks are not like bonus/dividends where surely you will get benefit even if you sell on ex date. (may be from broker pool account etc which will not be applicable for buyback). Selling on 23rd feb will be safe, to be eligible for buyback.
@Admin @Team Chittorgarh: Can you please add message link option in buyback messages also if possible. And also please make one general buyback FAQ page for tender route buyback, with general queries, so that we can give that link to user with same queries. I can help you on that by sending mail with basic questions and replies. Below page is there currently on your site which is not so useful and doesn't have basic queries. https://www.chittorgarh.com/article/buyback-of-shares-meaning-procedure-and-taxation/517/
@team chittorgarh: please add link option in buyback messages also if possible. Also create one buyback FAQ page having common queries and replies in that for tender route buybacks mainly. I can help in that if needed to give content or to review the content. Current below page doesn't have some basic information. https://www.chittorgarh.com/article/buyback-of-shares-meaning-procedure-and-taxation/517/
@team chittorgarh: please create one new FAQ page for tender method buybacks only with all these general queries. you told to inform details for missing, all these things are missing which we are discussing and replying to people in that above page, where mostly are general information available about buybacks. Better will be to create new page only for general rules for tender mode buybacks only. i will try to share with you may be when i will get time. Short and simple and precise one page.
@lokes Your secondary market understanding is very good and I need help. I want to exit and re-enter TCS as market condition bad. Which date I can sell TCS so I am still counted for buyback?
Thanks admin for clarification. If I have one qty as on record date and I buy later on but before tender windows 44 qty then will I be eligible to tender 44 qty in the buyback? Kindly clarify
@coldburger: you can see my below reply to snipperraj:

@jethalal: Pasting again as i replied to @vantage in below post on this same page:
Retail category is decided by 2 lakh value of shares on record date as per share closing price on record date, no matter how many shares you sell/buy after record date. And Max shares we can tender as per held on record date, no matter how many times we are buying/selling after record date and how many shares holding after record date.
Hello All, I am having 25 shares of TCS in my Demat Acc..I want to know that am i eligible for Buyback? And if yes can i tender all of my 25 shares? Thanks
Yes you are eligible & you can tender all shares. But acceptance won't be full. Expecting(60%) Unaccepted shares will be credited back after buy back period.
Even if you sell on 21/02/2022, being the EX DATE, your holdings are likely to be considered under the General Category. I have forgotten and under the wrong impression that the EX DATE is 22/02/2022. Extremely sorry for posting such wrong information.
if you sell on 23rd, shares will be debited after 23rd and therefore you will be in general category
so sell on 21st and those shares will be debited on 23rd( best case scenario) and you will come under retail, even if not, then chances are high that you will get the best price on 21st, 22nd onwards tcs should start cracking(logically)
@KSRK sir: 21st is not ex date, 22nd is ex date. 23rd is record date. @Sharmil: you can sell only 10-12 shares tomorrow 21st feb, then you will be eligible for retail category even with 48-50 share holding on 23rd. After ex date, normally prices drops always so tcs will be below 4k on 23rd feb mostly. Tomorrow is last date to sell for you those extra shares
My understanding is that retail category is determined by the buyback price which is 4500 and not by the share market price. Therefore you need to have 44 or lesser shares to be eligible for retail category. Happy to be corrected.
@chalak Lomdi - it will be general category if you hold more than 2lakh worth of share on record date. It does not depend on how many share are tendered.
@Sharmil, 1. With 60 shares in your Dmat acct on 23rd Feb you will not be eligible for retail investor quota. 2. 21st Feb is the last date for you to sell off your excess shares. 3. You need not sell 16 shares and and bring your holding down to 44. That would be playing too safe. Since target is to bring value of holding below 2 lacs as per 23rd closing price, selling 12 shares is likely to suffice (ie 48 shares net), which assumes that closing price on 23rd will be below Rs 4166 - ie price increase during 3 days will not exceed 10% .
