I have two account with same PAN card. In one Account 55 share & another account 68 share. As per retail investor 56 share need to be hold in Account. If I am give one account 55 share in buyback. So is it considered as retail category?
Whether you offer 55 out of 68 shares or all 68 shares, you are in general category simply because that is your holding on ex/record date. Nothing can be done now.
AR is nearly 54.8% for retail reserved(less than 2lac) category. My 45 out of 82 shares got accepted. All shares will be debited, and un-accepted shares will be credited back to account. As i am an already invested long term investor in Ajanta pharma, i am again buying my accepted shares from market. I have bought in range of 1900-2200. Will buy more in coming days at current price in range 1750-1800. This way my total avg price will be near 2000. So its like i sold by 45 shares at 2550 and bought is at 2000. At the start, my holding was 102 share. My profit from BB is 45*550=2450. At the end i bought those 45 shares, so my final holding remains intact with 102 shares.
Team Chittorgarh Can we pledge TCS shares meanwhile for getting margin and unpledge them just when TCS announces dates for applying BUYBACK? Will it make us get REJECTED for the buyback if we pledge?
I bought 54 shares like a fool instead of buying 44, will I be considered small investor. If not, what would be the expected accepted ratio for non-retail(non-small) investor? Please advise
Yes you are correct (I saw some other msg) AR for general cat is 10-20pc (it will be announced later ) one can still sell in open sec mkt when price rises. Tough luck Man.
Deepak, I am reading the newly published report from team chittorgargh (https://www.chittorgarh.com/article/buyback-price-and-maximum-share-in-retail-category/548/)abt the fixed price of record date and it is - 3571.90 so that means 2lacs would get you - 55.9 shares and u have 54 ,so its party time, i guess.
Yes Vantage, I can get back my lost sleep now :) Party time to be decided based on acceptance ratio and stock price after 2 months ;) Thank you so much for following my comment and providing the replies.. let's hope for all of us to be lucky!

Sorry, one more question.. Does it mean anyone holding more than 44 shares and upto 56, can apply for buyback qty more than 44 shares? Or is it limited to apply for buyback only with 44 shares though you hold 51 or 54?

You can tender all your shares but you will be considered as a General Category Shareholder and your acceptance ratio will be calculated as competing with general category shareholder and if left out buyback shares in reserved category then your remaining shares will be accepted proportionately.

Thank you Vantage! @Nagavenkata, the question is for retail category. If someone is considered as retail for 55 shares as on record date, I believe can pledge all 55 shares under retail as Vantage mentioned. Hope they wouldn't have different rules for considering someone retail vs pledging.. lots to learn 😊

Thanks, so in simple words - Anyone holding upto 56 shares will be considered as small investor and they can pledge all shares (upto 56) to be considered under retail acceptance ratio for the buyback.
ADMIN/ chittorgarh team , Thank you for making good FAQs
I want to Request you to please add the following FAQ since we are fresh in our minds
Question : How is the buyback price arrived at for Retail category in Buyback ?
Ans: Till now, i am getting to see mixed responses from users, its either - a. Max Transactions on the record date OR b. Price at the start of the EX-Date 22nd Feb OR c. something altogther different.
What exactly is the answer to this much sought after question, i think if we have this in black n white , it will avoid lots of confusion esp for upcoming buybacks
@Vantage Repeatedly informed that price at on23rd EOD (record date) as in 162.9. Not sure why this query lingers again? 163.1 was a query for another posting by someone who came up with an extract followed by the price. You must ask the person who posted. It is not issued by TCS!
Now that date is over , we can rest it at that.

Elated by your response , Many thanks !! Was looking at the NSE stock exchange data for TCS on 23rd feb
DATE SERIES OPEN HIGH LOW PREV. CLOSE LTP CLOSE VWAP 52W H 52W L VOLUME VALUE NO OF TRADES 23-Feb-2022 EQ 3,611.00 3,622.90 3,555.65 3,586.40 3,571.90 3,563.80 3,581.54 4,043.00 2,880.00 24,26,203 8,68,95,49,721.75 1,66,091 I was checking on the difference between the LTP (last traded price) and CLOSE (price at the time of closing) i thought it should ideally be the same, but it looks like Closing price is determined by taking weighted avg of last 30 mins of trades that occur on the exchange. so hence the difference. Thanks , i got to learn sthg new tdy because of you. Shouldn't both be the same ?
as per the website, the LTP was 3,571.90 But yr article mentions Closing price shd be taken , which is a different figure, ie 3,563.80 ... "So , should we just take LTP of the scrip as on record date on an exchange that had higest volume as a definition"?!
1) I see that the record date price is now changed to from 3,571.90 -> 3,563.80 (also, its not a big change,so the number of total shares dont change)
2a)But then there is one last change which i think we should still do viz. change this line in this page itself - "As on the Record Date, the closing price on NSE, being the Recognized Stock Exchange having the highest trading volume, was Rs 3,571.90 per Equity Share. Accordingly, all Eligible Shareholders holding not more than 56 Equity Shares as on the Record Date are classified as 'Small Shareholders' for the buyback offer."
as it mentions the older value of 3751.90. 2b) On the buyback price caluclation link , also repharsing needs to be done "TCS shares closing price on 23 February 2022 (record date) at NSE was Rs 3,563.80 and at BSE was Rs 3565.30. Since the trading volume of TCS is higher on NSE for that day, the number of Shares as on Record Date to qualify as Small Shareholder comes to 56 shares (200,000/3571.90 with fractional value ignored)." to mention 3,571.90 -> 3,563.80
3.Lastly and most importantly , So the definition is " " we just take CLOSING PRICE viz 3563.80 of the scrip as on record date on an exchange that had higest volume as a definition"
What is the experts' opinion? Won't there be higher interest in tendering and hence lower AR with the crash in TCS and further uncertainties / downside potential owing to tense geopolitics?

23.5.3. As defined in Regulation 2(1)(la) of the Buyback Regulations, a “Small Shareholder” is a Shareholder who holds Equity Shares having market value, on the basis of the closing price on February 23, 2022, i.e., the Record Date, of not more than ₹200,000 (Rupees Two Lakh only). As on the Record Date, the closing price on NSE, being the Recognized Stock Exchange having the highest trading volume, was ₹ 3,750(maximum possible today)per Equity Share. Accordingly, all Eligible Shareholders holding not more than 53 Equity Shares as on the Record Date are classified as ‘Small Shareholders’ for the purpose of the buyback offer.
As per this extract closing price on record date 23rd. How can they decide at 3750 when the share is traded now with exchange open? Highest trading volume will be known only today EOD.
To those have confusion. Please be aware that Buyback rules are fixed by SEBI,and NOT by TCS,keep in mind and avoid unnecessary queries here to disturb group administration n others.

If you holding max. 56 shares of TCS in your demat a/c on 23rd feb you will be treated as small investor ALL THE BEST AR will be 50 to 65 % according to me
I purchased TCS shares through ICICI Direct today and the Shares Projection is showing as 24th Feb 2022. Will I still be eligible shareholder on record date of 23rd Feb 2022
Shares will be credited in your Demat on 23rd EOD. It will be visible to you in allocate section to allocate for trading or pledge on 24th. You can also check late night on 23rd.
Same case.. ICICIDirect trade book says The shares will be credited in your demat account by 23-Feb-2022 by 8:30 PM. Still not arrived. So eligible for BB or not?
@ Sunil S The entire process will be completed by 9 pm .If the broker runs the updation after 9 pm , you will see it. If they don't, they will do it next morning before opening of trading and you will see it. Brokers usually mention the next date but invariably do it on the same day.
Today sent a mail to the Registrar (moilbuyback@bigshareonline.com) asking them to look into this matter. Last time when I participated in NTPC buyback, amount was transferred to account on the last day of settlement of bids. So, I was expecting the same i.e. on 21 February.
Registrar replied that I should contact broker as the settlement had been done on 18th Feb itself. So, I have now raised the matter with broker i.e. Zerodha. Waiting for its response.
How one could hedge their MutualFund portfolio? Let's assume you've 12-15 Lakh portfolio in different schemes, and you know market is going to correct, is there any way to hedge this kind of portfolio or withdrawing is the only option??
I found on youtube that people suggest to buy NIFTY PUT options to hedge the portfolio, so if NIFTY is corrected too below your strike price, you can benefit. But I looked at the premiums and they are too high for hedging.. I just checked for the strike price 16500 and expiry-date of 31-March, the premium is 323...So it's like 50*323=16000 RS you've to pay to "secure a bit" your portfolio just for "one" month?
Please experts is there any way to get around this? Or you would suggest "averaging", I mean buy more MF units if NIFTY goes down?
