You wont gain anything much.
DP charges for order placement of buyback is 25/- in Zerodha. Not sure about other brokers.
Plus there will be other charges for order execution. As per Zerodha charges calculator, it is 16.36/-
So 41.36/- already gone.
So profit you will earn 290- 238 - 41 = 11/-,, so only 3.79%, so less for the efforts you will be putting

No discussion or inputs regarding ER/AR.

During the last 2 buybacks, AR was 38%.
Expect it again to be 38%.
Further during the last 5 years, it has continuously shown price increase and rewarded the share holders.
I have purchased 87 shares for retail entitlement. And plan to make it compulsorily as part of portfolio. As it is now a regular buyback candidate.

Senior will explain 1 share strategy work here as I know No of share holders is 55488 against I assumed retail quote is 15% of total buyback size that's come roughly 154000.

Retail Quota 15% - 1,54,332 shares
Total Retail shares (with share holders less than 2 lakhs) as on March 31st - 51,460 shares. (check BSE website - updated every Q)
Max. shares per retail share holder: 2 Lakhs / Price = 82 approx.
If we consider average no. of shares per retail share holder (excluding 1 share category), would be say 40 shares, and ER around 20 % (assuming), total shares accepted first per retail share holder will be = (40)*20% = 8 shares.
so, 8*51,460/40 = 10292 remaining shares will be available for allotment to single share holders.

(Too many assumptions!!!). :)

No. you should buy at least one day before the record date.
And if the record date falls on clearing/settlement holiday, last date to buy is 2 days before record date.

Hi,

I have more than 100 shares of Ajanta Pharma (out of which major portion are bonus shares), Should I sell the excess shares to bring the limit at 72 shares or leave it.
If I sell it I will have significant Long Term Capital gain as purchase price is Nil and If I don't sell then chances of getting shares accepted as buyback will go down significantly..

Any suggestion based on your own experience are appreciated..

No. Simply hold them. Tender all shares. It doesn't matter much. Doing such things are value destructive. Better to hold. Tender in normal category. 1 or 2 shares will be accepted. Selling involves cost. Avoid them at all way. Don't sell winners . Never
