@KSRK ji what is your strategy on all buybacks.. MPS, Nucleus, MOIL, StarCement.. losses are increasing day by day.. getting little frustrated...sometimes it feel like book loss in all..and may be invest somewhere safe like ETFs..:)
Would love to hear what are your thoughts.. any confidence that these will give chance to exit in profit.
DSR Ji, I have already incurred remarkable paper loss in Star Cements. I am holding all the unaccepted shares with a hope of price raise in future ( In a year ). If I remember correctly, Aniket ji has replied to a query that within a year the price of the share is likely to be increased reasonably. Regarding MOIL, I am still positive. Regarding NUCLEUS, the recent results of the company are not encouraging. The company is a novel one and hence there is a possibility of recouping in future. Regarding MPS, I have not yet lost any hope n looking forward. Sir, letβs hopefully wait for a good opportunity to exit. Frustration often may likely to result in negative results. Thank you n all the best in all your deeds.
Sarita ji, Extremely sorry for the delay in responding. I strongly believe that one should have patience to wait for the right opportunity to exit. Sometimes loss is inevitable. We should try to minimise. In rare cases, we may have to respond quickly to dispose. I have incurred losses due to hasty decisions. Now I have developed some patience and accepting the things/ people as they are. Thank you n all the best.
Lokes ji, Unless the price comes down to Rs. 1400/- to Rs. 1410/-, I donβt want to purchase. I am not in hurry. I donβt mind, even if I miss. Let us wait and see.
it also had a good fall today after buyback purchasing date is over. Anyways buyback will still be beneficial if price rises later and remains around or above 1450
@GJ: this below thing, which you mentioned, happens in very few cases, else everyone can buy always after buyback announcement and can sell in buyback or open market for 20-30% gains :) there are many examples where it goes more down after record date like star cement and many others. Anyways for moil, yes you can buy around 170 rs upto 1000 quantities.
"Generally what I observed is, that share price touches (or comes in nearby range) to buyback price 1-2 days before buyback date, right? "
@lokes, Yes, I understand that part. For a large sized Buyback like Moil with good AR, one can either take advantage of tendering or sell in secondary market.
Btw, Brought 1st lot (out of many), will observe and add more till 800-1000 quantity I think.

Completely exited (with small profit of 400+ rs) from MOIL. Reasons, 1. needed money for IPOs 2. needed money for personal reasons 3. Much patience is needed for buybacks, as of now, I don't think I fall under this kind of investors' category.
I wouldn't comment on your decision about exiting from MOIL completely but I appreciate your 3rd reason i.e. Much patience is needed for buybacks, as of now, I don't think I fall under this kind of investors' category.
I strongly believe that it is necessary for each one of us to understand our own risk and invest profile very clearly to be successful in stock market in longer run and this holds true for primary market, secondary market, rights or buybacks and so on so forth.
Ex date being 26th , you sold on 27th. Shares will be debited to your Demat account on 28th. So you are eligible for buy back as you held on record date. Those who sold on 26th too are eligible as it is ex date. Their shares will be debited after record of shareholders is given by the exchange on 27th.
Ou Ai ji, Is it so? My one past experience is that the shares sold on record date were not considered holdings as on record date for the purpose of the buyback as seen from the offer letter wherein the No. of shares held on record date and the No. of shares entitled for the buyback were mentioned. Of course, I once again reiterate that I am not an expert in this regard. Thank you.
Having seen the upward trend in the share price on the Record Date, I have sold some shares to remain under the retail category thinking that they will be debited on that day itself ( In one case it was happened hence I thought in that way). But it is not so. The result is that I am not covered under retail category. You all know the consequences. Sometimes it happens. No problem. Thank you.
Dear ColdBurger, When you enjoy the waiting, the resultant amount of the benefit will be more worthy. I am quite confident that you will reasonably be benefitted in this buyback. Thank you.
Lokes ji, A very disappointing trend being seen. I am also hopefully looking for the outcome of the buyback. Somehow, I am hesitating a lot to purchase shares for the buyback purpose nowadays and missing them. Earlier, I used to purchase shares with out waiting for a long time. I wonder how I became that much over cautious. Looking forward to enjoy the fruits of benefits soon in the buybacks. Thank you.
@KSRK sir: ya in many buybacks, ER ratio was bad and on top of that share price movement after record date is very un-favourable in many buyback issues. Looks so many new people jumping in buybacks and buying shares only for buyback purpose is also impacting this. That's why also i didn't liked to discuss buybacks much on mainboard ipo's since so many new people will think it as easy money and keep trying here also which will definitely impact on ER/AR. Whoever already participating from long time and have interests can discuss here also anyways.
Lokes ji, As you have rightly mentioned, disappointing AR and sharp downfall in the price of the shares after the Record Date in most of the cases are the main contributing factors for loosing interest in the Buybacks. Thank you for sharing your views.
Prices going down drastically is a big concern on almost all the recent buybacks coupled with not-so-encouraging AR. I realized nowadays, we may get 1 chance (like Goldiam or eClerx) or none (like Star Cement) to exit a profitable buyback trade. I will be cautious in upcoming buybacks and will exit given any opportunity on Star & Goldiam.

Unknwon ji, Star Cements, Goldiam, Aksharchem, SH Kelkar, Nucleus,β¦β¦. almost all are not investor friendly. Losses are likely to be accumulated. Please be watchful and participate in the selective buybacks. All the best. Thank you.

One can purchase the shares of S H KELKAR Co Ltd (Keva) at the CMP for tendering for buyback. Record Date is 12/11. CMP is around Rs.145/- and the price of the buyback is Rs. 210/-. You will definitely get a reasonably good profit. I hope that the ER will be around 6% and AR around 13% to 17%. Chances of much downfall in the price of unaccepted shares after the buyback are very less. Thank you.
I missed good opportunity in goldiam, I will try in this. Luckily my eclerx came above my buyback price. Hope it will stay above 2300 after unaccepted buyback shares are credited back in demat also.
Thank you very much @lokes for sharing thi s. Please tell in how many days will shares be accepted by the company and unaccepted shares will be returned within how many days after closure of issue. After record date how much time company takes to open issue .
All these details will come when actual buyback opens and buyback dates are announced, like for eclerx buyback was open from 18th oct to 1st nov for tendering shares means till 1st nov we can tender shares or till when broker allows, like zerodha usually allows 1 days before. And last date for finalization of buyback was 8th/9th nov so during 8th/9th, we will come to know about final AR and in 1-2 days money comes in bank account say 10th nov and mail also comes usually from registrar for buyback acceptance and contract note comes from broker like zerodha and unaccepted shares comes back in demat in 1-2 days say 10th/11th nov. After record date, its upon company to company, when they open the issue. In eclerx, record date was 30th sept and buyback opened on 18th oct so it may be anything between 15 to 30 days approx.
@lokes thank u very much ....You had done a great for new bies like me ...I will participate in upcoming buyback and then I will get more clarity......If after record date I buys more share of that buy back company then it will not be able to sell those additional shares untill acceptance of buy back shares ...as Shares are sold on FIFO basis ?
@have faith: there is nothing like FIFO etc. Buyback eligibility is as per shares held on record date. Like shareholder category in IPOs. After record date, you can sell existing shares, buy new shares can do anything anytime. It's just before tendering in buyback when it opens, that time whatever number of shares you want to tender in buyback, you should have those in your demat obviously that time. No matter you bought them 2 days back or those are same shares shares which you bought before record date. Simple.
Regarding cartrade, I missed to buy that day to avg and didn't do after that and yes it's becoming big headache and market also not supportive now.
@ADMIN @Team chittorgarh : Please add "Buyback Issue Timetable" for nucleus software. Record date here already gone as 27th nov. Same way it is present in sh kelkar and akshar chem buyback pages, it is present, add here in nucleus also.
@Admin - Seems like there is some error/mistake in Buyback listing. It shows wrong numbers under "Issue Size Amount (Cr.)" column. Almost for all company it shows 10. Please correct this.
Sir, I am of the opinion that one can purchase some shares ( Half of the normal investment generally made in each buyback) if available @ Rs. 245/-. Of course the size of the buyback is a small one. We can take a reasonable risk. Thank you.
When the share price has touched Rs. 242.40, somehow I missed. I am looking forward n waiting for the price of around Rs. 240/- to Rs. 245/-. I am not in hurry. Thank you.
Size of the buyback. 14,12,515 Buyback price. Rs. 60 CMP. Rs. 54 Mode of Buyback. Through Tender Offer Record Date. 10/12/2021 Personal View. If available @ Rs. 50 or Rs. 51 one may try with a thousand shares. Thank you.
it has hit upper circuit and touched 62.4 today :) @KSRK sir : did you bought it ? since as per your above message on 3rd dec Friday evening, it didn't came below 54 even after that, and you didn't mentioned anything about your buying here so it looks you missed this good one, right ? I also missed in this one, actually didn't even noticed it due to so many ipos :) I saw your post in ipo page about this to check in moil page and then saw about this one in moil page but later didn't checked.
CHEVIOT BUYBACK Size of the buyback. 02,50,000 shares Buyback price. Rs. 1725/- CMP. Rs. 1465/- Mode of Buyback. Through Tender Offer Record Date. 17/12/2021 Personal View. If available @ Rs. 1400/- one may try with a hundred shares. Thank you.
IPO BULL JI, Is it worthwhile buying a stock with buy back news anymore ? Depending upon the Size of the buyback, Track record of the company, difference between the CMP and the Buyback price, sustainability of the share price during n after the period of the buyback, holding capacity of the investors during the tough time arises if any , conditions during which the buyback is operated, YES it will be worthwhile. I also agree that the prevailing conditions are not much attractive n favourable. But they will not be the same for ever. We have to be attentive, selective and watchful to grab the opportunity at an appropriate time. Please donβt be disappointed. Look forward for the better opportunities. All the best. Thank you.
