I have 1300 shares of MOIL worth > 2 lac so technically I am not a small share holder. Can you explain how it impacts my chance of participation in buy back offer @ 205
Sir, Acceptance Ratio will be comparatively very less in other than the small share holders category when compared to the small shareholders category in the Buyback.
@ Ashish In your category, as on 30/9/21 61 persons hold 33.57 lac share. However this is a big buyback, 14.24% share of the company will be bought back.Though the final figure depends on the number participating, you may expect of atleast 22% absorption if you tender all 1300 shares for buyback. If the Govt does not take part in the buyback , it may be extended to 65-70 % even.
Lokes ji, A very small profit if the unaccepted shares can be sold @ more than Rs. 142/-. Otherwise, it will be a loss making deal to the extent the price is dropped below Rs.142/-. You may be well aware that every buyback can’t be like the recent Eclerx. In one or two cases, we may have to book small losses. Thank you.
Lokes ji, Profit is more than Rs.3,000/-. I am happy for the profit. Thank you for your wishes regarding AJANTA PHARMA. I have purchased 18 shares @ Rs.2261/-. I will wait n try to purchase 20 more, if available at around Rs.2220/-. I will try for two more instalments of 20 each @Rs. 2200/-n @2150/-for my wife‘S account, if available before the scheduled date. What about you? Have you purchased any shares apart from the 20 shares purchased already? Thank you n all the best.
@KSRK sir: i didn't bought any more shares of ajanta pharma, will wait for dip below 2200 since enough time is there for record date now else will buy around 8-10 jan upto 2200-2300, not more than 2300. Will post in ajanta pharma page once i will buy. We need to request @Admin to open page for ajanta pharma :)

I was having 20 shares in Zerodha and they credited 16 shares. Whether they accepted 4 shares or later they will credit back those shares. 4 shares missing and i didnt get money as well
Sasikumar ji, You contact your broker through mail/ phone/ in person in this regard to correctly know the position. Resultant amount of the buyback is already credited to the accounts concerned. Thank you.
Sir, Please go through the reply furnished to Learning Trends in this regard. ER is nothing but the entitlement ratio mentioned in the reply cited above. Thank you.
I haven't received any buyback mail from my broker. Do I have to specifically contact them and tell them that I have to offer my MOIL shares for buyback? or is there any other way to participate. Thanks
Sir, Normally, within two or three weeks from the record date, mail will be received from the Registrar. I believe that you have already furnished your email address to your broker. Registrar will collect the mail address from your broker and will mail you regarding your entitlement.
Sir, If you have submitted your email to your broking agent, you will definitely receive a mail from the Registrar duly intimating the number of shares entitled for the buyback. It is advantageous to tender all your holdings during the period of buyback to get maximum benefit. You please read all the messages posted in the buyback pages to learn n earn from the Buybacks. Thank you.
Need some help in understanding the definition of a retail investor for the purposes of a buyback. A retail investor is someone who has shares of value < INR 200,000.
But what is the price applicable? Is it the offer price? If it is the market price, then on what date? Is it the closing price, or vwap price? On what exchange?
I play it safe, I assume the price is 5% more then the offer price, and then buy. By this logic, I should've bought 929, but rounded down to 900.
Sir, As defined under Regulation 2(i)(n) of the Buyback Regulations, a “Small Shareholder” is a Shareholder who holds Equity Shares whose market value, on the basis of closing price on Stock Exchanges as on Record Date, is not more than ₹ 200,000/- (Rupees two hundred thousand only). As on the Record Date, suppose the volume of Equity Shares traded on BSE was 1000 Equity shares and on NSE was 1500 Equity Shares. Accordingly, NSE, being the stock exchange with highest trading volume, the closing price was suppose ₹ 100 and hence all Shareholders holding not more than 2000 Equity Shares as on the Record Date are classified as ‘Small Shareholders’for the purpose of the Buyback Offer….. Hope it is clear now…. Thank you.
The reply furnished by Ou Ai ji in the buyback pages of GOLDIAM INTERNATIONAL may please be referred to according to which those who sold on 30th too are eligible if it is ex date. Their shares will be debited after record of shareholders is given by the exchange on 31st. Thank you

Thanks for the replies. Just experiencing the buyback first time. Not thinking to exit and re-enter and ready to face what ever the final outcome is. Not of trader mentality to do many enter/exit. Just pray that the offer period is announced soon so i can pull the money back sooner.
it was available at 2100 rs around when buyback meeting news came last friday and even yesterday morning also. i bought yesterday some shares at 2140, should have bought more, didn't added today anything. Will wait for dips. Company is good for holding also for medium/long term even if AR is lesser, so no issues/fear in this buyback.
Lokes ji, Your purchase price is very good. Thank you very much for your valuable views. I am hopeful that the AR will not be less than 30%. I once again congratulate you on purchasing at such a lower price.
@KSRK sir: Thanks. But i bought only 20 quantities yesterday in opening around 2144 exact avg. price and didn't added after that. Lets see if it will come below 2200 in some days then i will add more.
Lokes ji, Though I may not be as knowledgeable n experienced as you are, I humbly suggest you to purchase at least 20 shares more @around Rs.2200/-. Of course, it’s upto you to take a decision in this regard. Thank you.
@KSRK & lokes sir, Thank u very much for suggestion. I will buy at 2200 small qty and if available in deep 2150, 2100... will buy more. (i.e. I m a very small investor) Thank u.
@KSRK sir: you are too much polite sir :) Appreciate your views, yes i will add around 2200 if its coming and may be some at above 2200 also if its not coming much down and will add below 2200 also...i will keep adding as per opportunity and during till record date and max till around 1.7 lakh total amount etc. if getting good price. Thanks. while replying to you, i become conscious usually as how i can be polite in my message, since normally u know i am just straight forward person :) Anyways lets hope we will get profit in sh kelkar and nucleus buybacks also like eclerx. Eclerx proved good bet where i am in total 30K profit.
I am holding Ajanta pharma from past 6 years. When I started investing for the first time it was one of 5 stocks that I bought in my investing debut. Other fours(Motherson, HBL power, Biocon and HUL), I kind of sold off, but Ajanta is still there. Currently I am holding a quantity of shares of Ajanta that I will not come in Reserved category. My strategy will be, to sell some shares just before ex-buyback date to get max price and come in Reserved category. Tender shares. Then buy all the sold and accepted shares in tendering to get back my original holding. This way will get some profit from BB without loosing any holding. Needless to say, its amazing company for LT.

How can I be counted in reserved category in Moil? Holding 1k qty. Certainly disappointed with price volume action. Tiny trading in compare to buyback qty. I get estimate of AR not more than 30% and so can expect 11 k profit. Same 10k is available now. Since it has not good past I have put a sell order at 186. I am sure it will come to 155-160 once the buyback schedule is over.

Dear ColdBurger, if the share price increases to more than Rs.200/- at the closing of the Record Date in the stock exchange where comparatively more transactions took place (Normally NSE), then your holdings will be considered under general category. Otherwise, will be considered in the Small Shareholders/ Retail Category only. Thank you for your views.
I bought 100 shares today at 543 rs to bring down my average and to sell in open market in short term since I believe share price will increase once buyback tender period will open. I will add more on further falls
It's better wait till some more time rather than adding at current time. I am holding star cement also and doesnt want to add more unless market stabilizes. It will unnecessarily block funds if we cant get market correct. My own thoughts
@avinash: Star cement and nucleus both are completely different share and sector. Star cement was already not performing well from long time before buyback But nucleus was not like that and it is from IT sector where growth is there. No one can predict where any share fall/rise will end so I added at 543 since already fall a lot from 610 recent high and I didn't bought all in one shot for average, I can add more on further falls.
i will add again today second time around 50-100 shares. its going too much down which is completely surprising and unpredictable, no other share usually fallen that much, like recently eclerx buyback in same sector.
I do understand your rationale and even i considered adding when it went down to 540 levels. However, as i believed that it would fall by 10% due to unfavorable result, selling pressure and volaile market conditions, I didn't add .
Also when i compared it with peers, I found Sasken better than nucleus.
Kindly do the analysis from your end as well regarding Sasken and if you also feel the same, I believe it will be beeter if you shift your position from nucleus to Sasken
My strategy worked here looks like. My avg price is 568 rs after averaging it. Today it gave good upmove, and probably i will be able to sell my remaining shares above 568 which will not be accepted in buyback (some before tendering some after tendering period or all before tendering period etc will see).
yeah at-least we will have some profit in this buyback I didn't average because fundamentally I believe that Sasken is better bet than this although Nucleus also make good software(my friend is suing their product and is happy with their features and after sales service). Moreover, i knew even if i add some shares, I won't be able to tender more than 299( that i help on record date)
@Lokes : what was your motive behind averaging 1) belief that buyback announce ment will push the share higher and you will make some quick bucks 2) portfolio share(long term investment)
okay I was thinking of averaging when it dipped to 500 because i thought it will at-least go up to 525 - 550 if market stabilizes but i didn't as i had shortage of funds and was fearful of market's volatility(Omnicron)
Good call ( you didn't make a lot of money as you averaged early(543) and not at 500 levels, however, you were able to apply buffet's wisdom here, be greedy when others are fearful)
@aashish: i averaged many times after 543 rs price also with 50 shares each time, as i posted in this thread on 30th nov. added even below 500 too once. I am holding 578 shares now total at 568 avg price. I just want to be out in some profit from this deal overall and i will handle it properly to have good profit here, i have enough and long experience in buybacks.

Aaashish ji, Being under small shareholder/ retail category, When you can sell all your holdings @ Rs. 605/-, it will be more beneficial. In this category, AR may be maximum of 40%. 60% shares are to be sold in the open market. Due to the increased number of share holders in this category, there will be pressure for selling and the price may around Rs. 540/- or even less. I hope I have explained you properly. I placed selling order unfortunately @ Rs.606/- and hence not executed. The price is drastically dropped to Rs.567/-. Yes, I have not purchased any shares after the Record Date. Thank you.
@KSRK: sir today i was out whole day so couldn't check/access much and didn't placed any order so i missed to sell it in today morning. I will check later. Probably this buyback deal will be profitable overall even if i dont sell in open market because if price will move around 600 then acceptance ratio can be good and for remaining shares also it may not fall much. Lets see. Will decide as per further price movements.
Hello friends ,. I am an NRI have an trading created account using my parents credentials. Bought 100 shares of MOIL @175. Please let me know how to participate in the buyback. I am using Angel Broking trading account.
For buyback 1) do we need to physically get a signature and post to register to tender. 2) If yes is there a way to identify buyback which can be online only. Please help me with your valuable guidance.
From the relevant regd mail address, a mail is to be sent to the broker for tendering the shares (100) after the process of tendering starts. This will do.
is anyone sure of this info promoters are not participating in this tender offer and therefore 22 lakh shares will be accepted out of 94 lakhs(approx) ( healthy 24% ER, 30-40% AR)
@aashish: yes it is confirmed whatever you said. Promoters will participate with very few shares so around 22 lakhs will be accepted from around 95 lakhs and acceptance ratio will be around 50%
@aashish: ER will be calculated as per total shares available not as per shares available minus promoters shares so it is less but final AR should be good here.
Aaashish ji, Lokes may excuse for my intervention to explain in another way. ER depends upon the number of shares held on the Record Date by the holders whereas AR depends upon the number of shares held on the Record Date and tendered for the buyback. As promoters are not likely to tender/ tendering insignificant number of shares for the buyback,AR will be naturally more in general category. This is my understanding. Thank you.
@KSRK: yes sir, you are right. i was just informing in short ;) :) you already explained it anyways in my other post, @aashish might have missed to check that.
Aaashish ji, If I am not wrong, you have wrongly arrived at the total number of shares held as approximately 94 lakhs ( I think after excluding the holdings of the promoters ).But you are taking in to account the total number of shares considered for the buyback i.e., approximately 22 lakhs( This includes the holdings of other than the small share holders ). That may be the possible reason for your arriving at 25% which is not in order. I have tried my best to explain. However, I welcome the readers, who can explain it in a better way, to elaborately explain what he misses. Thank you.
Sir I m participating buyback process. I have 780 shares and I placed all shares for buyback. On 28/12/21 the shares are not seen in my dmat account .how this happened and what it means..pls clarify...
Sir, When you have tendered the shares for the buyback, they cannot be seen in the Dmat account. The unaccepted shares will be credited back to your Dmat account on completion of the process of the Buyback. Don’t worry. Thank you.
It seems it will not cross 185. In that case need to keep hold of all till tender date. Can we sell some qty after tendering? Say 20% as AR is unlikely to be above 80%. Will that result in some penalty?
@coldburger: after tendering shares, those are not allowed to sell, broker (mine zerodha) freezes all those shares and remaining shares will come back to demat after buyback is over. As explained in my other message here, you can sell after record exdate if you wish, then you can buy again later for tendering, that is possible.
once you tender the shares, shares will be debited and you won't be able to sell them once company accepts the shares, they will return remaining shares to your demat account
Hello all, I have never participated in any buyback. Can you please guide me for following query? If I buy S H Kelkar Shares at cmp say 150 & buyback value is 210. So, rather than tendering my shares for buyback if I keep them for few days then what are chances that stock price will increase atleast till 170-180 ?
185.1. KAMMA SIVA RAMA KRISHNA1|| Link|December 28, 2021 6:54:20 AM
Sir, I am sorry to state that the process of the buyback is completing today in the investors’ aspect. Today is the last date for tendering the shares for buyback. Chances are in either way if you want to keep the shares with the hope of increasing the price. I don’t suggest you to purchase the shares. Thank you.
MOIL Buyback
I have 1300 shares of MOIL worth > 2 lac so technically I am not a small share holder. Can you explain how it impacts my chance of participation in buy back offer @ 205
