If LIC IPO oversubscribed in the retail category, the LIC IPO shares will be distributed on a proportionate basis to Retail Individual Investors (RII). Each retail investor will get a minimum of 1 lot subject to the availability of shares in the retail portion. If enough shares are not available, a lottery is drawn to choose the investors.

The LIC IPO shares will get listed on Tuesday, May 17, 2022. The equity share of Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) will list on BSE, NSE.

The reason you didn't get the LIC IPO could be:

  • IPO become oversubscribed and allotment process is completed through a lottery
  • The IPO application got rejected due to mismatch/incomplete information
  • The issue price is higher than the bid price. (Always apply on cut-off price).

My father received 19 shares against application of 30 shares. Whoever applied for multiple lots in Retail section they have distributed the unsubscribed shares to them... le lo thoda thoda aur le lo.

Under retail quota, 1 lot allotted (15 shares) to 1 lot applied. If more than one lot allotted the balance shares (after 1 lot allotement) might have been allotted on proportionate basis.
Under policyholder quota no allotment for those who applied for 1 lot and proportionate allotment in case if lots applied more than 1.
For these reasons shares allotment will not be in multiple of 15 where application is made for more than 1 lot.
