As a newbie, i have a doubt regarding propionate basis allotment in HNI category for SME IPO's. Assume some SME IPO oversubscribed 50x time in HNI category. Then what could be the allotment chances, if: 1. I apply 5 Lots - then 5/50 = 0.10 chances. In this case, any lot get allotted or not ? 2. I apply 40 Lots - then 40/50 = 0.80 chances. Any lot get allotted or not in this case ? 3. I apply 85 Lots - 85/50 = 1.70 chances. So, how many lots will get allotted - 1 or 2 ? 4. If i apply here 10 lots instead of 5 lots. Do i have better chances ? and How ?

Just a thought: SEBI needs to bring Mainboard allotment system in SME IPOs as well. This mindboggling figure of oversubscription is hardly justified. Consider that people who apply for shares worth >10 Cr will get shares worth 1.4 Lakh (0.14%). Is there any need for this inflated subscription figure? If my intention is to get 1 Lot worth 1.5 Lakh, why should I be made to put in 10Cr for a confirmed allotment? Simply make the chance equal for all applicants. Besides SME IPOs nowadays have hardly failed to get subscription so why keep 1-1.5 L as 1 lot. It concentrates SME shares in very few hands and makes it easy target for operator manipulation. I know its easier said than done but SME IPO subscription has changed hugely and this old archaic system definitely needs some sort of reform.
Even for QIBs, 3 crores don't matter that much. Who is stopping them to exit early? So, it really won't matter for such a low amount. Many HNI are applying more than that. I think that it is a valid question that for such a low amount why do you need QIB.
