​@Sanchit Jain  Always Apply max in proportionate allotment category such as Shareholder quota. To illustrate this let us say it is oversubscribed 40 times then the chances for the applicant will be as follows
1. 13 lot applicant = 13/40 = 32.5% chance of allotment
2. 1 lot applicant = 1/40 = 2.5% chance of allotment
3. 5 lot applicant = 5/40 = 12.5% chance of allotment

So simply apply max to get more chances of allotment

This is also what we are doing in SME IPO's.
But, in mainboard, the rule for allotment is 1 lot for every applicant and to my it will apply in Shareholder's Category also (though not confirmed). If if shareholders category is subscribed around 20 times and also application wise more than 13 times, so the LM will allot 1 lot to every applicant 1st.
Soo, it will not make a difference whether you apply 1 lot or 13 lots (just a thought).

Only retail is lottery and makes no difference in this category to apply more than 1 lot. Hope people don't make mistake and lose better chances of allotment with limited amount unless we can go really big and go in bHNI with 15L+

Only those who applied 13 and 10 lots will only get 1 each right?

If SH category subscribed 26 times, and if 26 people apply 1 lot each, out of those 26 people, 1 person will get 1 lot.

So here the case will be lottery, because there is only 2lk applications available and 2.5lk people/applications.

Case 2 - if there are 1.5 lk people who applied 13 lots ,then each of them will get 1 lot confirm, now remaining 50k lots will be distributed among those who applied 12 lots, and if still remains then it goes to 11 lots guys.
So this case would not be lottery for those who apply max lots rather a confirm allotment.

Yes i agree that we might not get data of application wise for each lot category, it will be available only in boa. Moreover, there are 45 lk sh on the record date, and only 2lk applications needed for the Case 1. Easily possible, hence no point in applying 1 or 2 lots in sh category.

Here is very simple math for you.
Assume there are 100 shares available in SH quota.
If 1287 people apply 1 share each and 1 person applies 13 shares,means application received for total 1300 shares.
Which is 13 times the 100 shares available.
As per your logic, only person who applied 13 shares will get 1 share. What about the remaining 99 shares? Or even if the person with 13 shares allotted 13 shares, what about the remaining 87 shares?

See, if someone gets influenced by your information and doesn't apply in SH category, thinking I don't have money for 13 lots, at the end it will benefit me as I'm definitely going to apply and my chances will increase. But this is against moral and values. If you are not aware then please share half knowledge.

Similarly some of the persons who applied for 2 lots or 3 lots got allotment of one lot. Also some of the persons who applied for higher number of lots didn't get any allotment

But in this TATA IPO there is very huge crowd in SH .
However here is proportionate allotment provided that minimum one lot on allotment if any.
There's allotment of minimum 30 shares.

I am saying that if 2.10 lakh applications FOR 13 LOTS ONLY are there.
Not overall 2.10 lakh applications for all lots.
And I think there will be more than 5 to 7 lakh applications as there are about total 40 lakh share holders.
Then Higher lot application will be considered first in case of so heavy oversubscription.
And there will be minimum 30 share allotment to every SUCCESSFUL ALLOTTEE.

You are absolutely correct as 13 lots application definitely will have first preference in allotment and here only 203000 lots are in SH category.
If more than 2lakh 10 thousand application for 13 lots were filed then for each 13lot applicant there will be one lots
So lower lots application will not get allotment

Simple calculation of allotment in sh category

Suppose sh category subscribed 20 times then those applied 13 lot will be issued in the ration 13:20 only 1 lot ie 30 shares

Those who applied 12 lots will get 1 lot in 12:20

So on

10:20

..
1:20
1 lot will be issued .

The entire subscription will be divided percentage wise between 1 to 13 lots, after which there will be proportionate/lottery wise allotment in each lot category.
Eg
Suppose Amount received in
1 lot category 15%
5 lot category. 10%
10 lot category 12%
13 lot category 30%

Whole share holder category amount will be divided in these ratios and after that lottery wise allotment.

I would like to post an update what information i got but no concrete answer yet from any experts yet. First of all, no-one is misguiding but everyone feels this is how it works and replying same so let's try to get answers for below questions. Kind of say, if we mix everyone's answer then we are going no-where.

1. Will i get 1 lot in lottery if i apply 1 lot as SH category subscribed more than X?
2. Will i get proportionate shares if issue subscribed more than X time? If yes, account holder who applied just 1 lot may get 0?
3. Is software gives preference to 13 lot account holders and 1 lot account holder will get 0? If 1 lot account holder can get 0 then what is the value of 1 lot in SH because issue is heavily subscribed?
etc..

1. In the morning, I had called to LinkInTime and asked purely all these questions. They denied to answer me in any situation and repeatedly told me to email us. I told them that email is formal communication, call is recorded and format discussion too so why you can't answer me over phone? Their boss denied to answer allotment related query to investors. They told me, LinkInTime decide only after issue closes on 24th based on actual subscription.

2. Marwadi broker told me, SH quota also works same like retail if oversubscribed.

3. My relative (who is in stock market since 30 years) told me, proportionate.

I agree with @Market Advisor . If more than 2.1 lakh shareholders apply for 13 lots, on the basis of lottery itself those lucky 2.1 lakh people get 1 lot. And no shares will be left for further distribution.

2.1 lakhs * 30 shares = Shareholder quota exhausted. :)

Following for prediction of applications.

The basic idea to have Retail portion is to cater to small investors. Irrespective of SH or non SH category.....in no way person applying more than 1 lot in retail or SH cat can get more than 1 lot if subscription is more than 1 X ....that is simple ......never ever seen in past that under SH cat you get an advantage of applying higher even if subscription is more than 1 X. This is not Buy Back where proportional shares are allotted bu retail cat and is absolutely meant for smaller shareholders

​@Rakcyt ok but as other members suggested is is not that lottery will be within for that particular group of numbers i.e. how many applied in 13 lots and their weightage will be higher for proportionate unlike buyback where 1 share gets accepted .

​@Ascension .....not exactly as there may be different categories but ratio for basis of allotment will more or less remain same spread throughout upto 2 L quota . You are fighting with others with different category only for allocated shares ie., 10% under SH cat .a..sonit has binding of allocated shares which have to be distributed amongst all who apply at certain ratio which will be more or less same

Proportionate allotment basis is valid only for shareholder quota and employee quota. Refer to RHP document on SEBI

Even though the IPO is big the allotment won't be that straight forward in bHNI as many NBFC's are funding Tata and IREDA issue.

I have around 1.95 Cr to distribute among these 4 IPO's. Thinking of below combinations.
1) 11 sH + bHNI Tata + 6 bHNI IREDA
2) 11 sH + bHNI Tata + 11 sHNI IREDA + 4 bHNI Gandhar/Flair
