Experts- Best combo wud be 13 lots in SH + 1 lot in bhni/shni/retail (for one pan).

It is mendatory to apply SH in the same Dmat in which you have TATA MOTOR.
Retail you can either of your choice.

You can select Shareholder Category while Applying or There will be separate window for shareholder Category Applying.

​@PiyushS There will be an extra option in your broker website or app, "shareholder".

If you are going through your bank for ASBA there would also be an option for shareholder category on the IPO opening day. Some banks enable it early some a few hours later, have patience..

for minor application you can try RBL BANK Account. as in your mobile bank login you son's account can operate and apply through asba with his account.

for minor demat you can try PROSTOCKS

AS you can sell and buy shares in your son's account. (you can't do intraday.) you can participate in buyback and other corporate action

If one lakh people will apply 13 lots in share holder kota then it will subscribe 6 times and 20 lakh people will apply one or two lot then it will subscribe 12 times so total 6+12 = 18.
20 times will be the max in share holder kota I think.

There are about 37 lakh TATA MOTOR Retail Shareholders. How many of them are going to apply in SH Category is a question. The point is in SH category those who apply single lot and those applying multiple lots up to 13 lots stand equal chance of getting a single lot or not. Let some knowledgeable person explain.

Just go recent shareholder category IPO aeroflex BoA you get clear cut idea how it is going to allotment is going on.

Both lottery as well as proportionate mostly one lot + some shares at 13 lots

I'm new to IPO application process. I have two demat accounts under my PAN id. One of them has Tata Motors share held in it for past 2 months (though haven't received official email yet for SH quota but I believe I'm eligible as per discussions in forum).

I intend to apply for 13 lots in SH Quota & 1 lot in Retail Quota.

1) Is it advisable to apply for SH quota in demat account where I held Tata Motors share and Retail Quota in another demat account (or) can I do both in same demat account which has Tata Motors share, does it have any impact on allotment ?

2) Just curious to know, assume I apply for both SH & Retail Quota in same demat account, it should be two separate applications, which one should I apply first ? for SH quota (or) Retail quota. Does application order makes any difference, as I read few discussions mentioning allotment of lots will be done either to SH or Retail quota for single PAN.

(1)If i apply 13 lot in SH catagory and 1lot in bHNI from one PAN then what happens??
can i get allotment from both SH AND bHNI catagory?
(2) am i decreasing my chances in bHNI by applying in SH from same PAN?? (Because if one PAN gets allotment in only one catagory then I will not get allotment in other, if I get allotment in SH then I will not get in bHni)

(3) i have arrangement of fund and also I have shares of tata motors in 4 demat accounts, what is best strategy for me??

There is No such rule that 1 PAN/demat can get only in one of the SH AND BHNI. RIGHT?

There are many strategies and particular ipo apply or not as a personal choice but account may have:
15K TATA retail
15K TATA SH + rest lots for remaining amount
15K Gandhar
15K Flair
15K IREDA/Fedbank (partial may be)

i would have done 23 lots ireda
35 lots tata
i personally think sh category will be oversubscribed by many times even with people who are going for 13 lots so going with ireda is good

What you are thinking is best. 5 sh and 1 retail

In my opinion
1 retail in tata+ 1 retail in ireda + 1 retail in flair
+ 1 retail in gandhar + 2 in Sh tata
No need to put 5 lot in Sh because if you want to get allotment in Sh , put 10-13 lots otherwise you use your funds for other IPOs.
