I understand that in retail ,small hni and big hni , the allotment is via lottery now. So , it is advisable to apply for min. lot in retail , in case of oversubscription. Some expert pls. advise (1) As to how one should apply in the 2 hni categories, in case of oversubscription (as is always the case)? 2)In retail 1 lot is allotted. How much is allotted in the 2 hni categories? Thanks.

@Kiaan. First things first. Always apply 1 lot in Retail if the issue is oversubscribed. Also the minimum allotment in all HNI category is 952 shares in case of success in the lottery. And if you have limited funds then apply multiple retail applications in family member accounts if you want better chances than retail then apply multiple Big HNI applications preferably more than 10L 1 or 2 lots more to go above the crowd there. Estimate is probably 1 in 4 chances in big HNI that is 25% chance of 952 shares which is good.

I have also answered for your Q2 which to state again is 14 lots or 952 shares allotted for successful applications in both Small and Big HNI.

@kiaan Regarding the categorization of the HNI segment — SEBI has said that one-third of the shares under this category will have to be allotted to smaller HNIs with an application size of Rs 2 lakh to Rs 10 lakh. The remaining two-third will be allotted to large HNIs, with the application size of over Rs 10 lakh. -> So you see more chances are in 10 lakh category due to two-third of reserved share BUT subject to subscription in that category.
Similar to the retail category, the draw-of-lots concept will also be applicable to the HNI category. This could ensure a fair allotment of shares to all applicants.
I also had the same question. Did some googling and could find as below. Experts and Admin can give 100% clarity for SHNI and BHNI.
How HNI IPO allotment is done?
The HNI category IPO allotment process has two parts. For HNI investors who have:
1. Applied for more lots than the issue oversubscribed, the shares are allocated proportionately. 2. Applied for fewer lots than the number of times issue oversubscribed, the allotment is done % wise in comparison to total subscription. The allotment is not guaranteed in such cases as its done by lottery for 1 lot.
As per my understanding of sHNI and bHNI, if both are subscribed 30x, then chances of getting 1 allotment in bHNI will be 5x more than getting the same in sHNI. But since 2L required for sHNI and 10L required for bHNI, overall the chances of getting 1 allotment is same which is 1/3 or 33.3% probability (chances here in sHNI = 10 * 1/30 = 10 / 30 = 1/3, chances here in bHNI = 2*5/30 = 10/30 = 1/3)
also, if sHNI is 10x and bHNI is 50x (less chances), now applying 10 sHNI applications results in almost 100% probability of getting 1 allotment whereas the chances of getting bHNI allotment is 2*5/50 = 10/50 = 20% allotment...
Hope my understanding is correct. @Noorul @Avenue @lokes @Akhil IPO @sdz @Prabhjot @SamJos please guide..

You have to include another imp parameter, how many unique applications (different PAN) you can apply with that 20L. Applying in bHNI is better if you can apply only with 1 or 2 PANs
@Kami you are missing the concept of probability... (Considering 5x in retail) While he can get all 45 lots applied for, the probability of that event happening is very very minute.. Not even 0.01%

@iamnimitshah I know and i understand that, but he is so firm about his statment, (allotment will be just 5 lot) There is also possibility of not getting allotment in any one Of them, even in 3 times subscription (application wise if that is)

Wait he did say 'just about' nevermind I read differently.
Hi all, I had applied SME IPO for the first time. 1) i applied for myself using HDFC asba using my bank and demat account. 2) i applied for my mother using IDFC asba using her dmat account number and my bank account (obviously)
When I am checking allotment results giving my mother pan no. it is showing record not found, but when I am searching with my pan no. it is showing both application detail.
Is this expected, or I did something wrong??? please help
