Retail investors get discount in Rel Power IPO
MUMBAI: Reliance Power is eyeing a mop up of Rs 10,530-11,700 crore at the lower and upper price band of the mega initial public offering. The 26-crore equity IPO opens between Jan 15-18 in the price band Rs 405-450 per share of face value Rs 10 each.

Retail investors will get a discount of Rs 20 per share on the issue price which will be decided through book building process. However, the public offer is only for 30 per cent of the issue.

The company will not be making a pre-IPO placement, said Anil Ambani, chairman of Reliance Power at a press meet here. The company expects to list by the first week of February, he said. Net issue would constitute 10.1 per cent of the post-issue paid up capital. Outstanding shares post issue will be 226 crore equity shares.

Reliance Power IPO opens on 15 January 2008

Price band Rs 405 - Rs 450

The Reliance Power (RPL) initial public offering (IPO) will enter the capital market on 15 January 2008 in a price band of Rs 405 to Rs 450. The IPO is scheduled to close on 18 January 2008.

The company proposes to issue 26 crore equity shares of Rs 10 each, including promoters’ contribution of 3.2 crore shares which will be allotted at the IPO price to the promoters. The balance 22.8 crore equity shares will constitute the net issue to the public.

While qualified institutional buyers are required to pay 10% on application, high networth individuals and retail investors have the option to pay Rs 115. The balance amount would be payable on allotment.

The company plans to offer the retail investors or those applying for Rs 1 lakh, a 5% discount or Rs 20 per share in order to enable large participation.

Based on the price band, Reliance Power IPO would raise between Rs 10,500 crore to Rs 11,700 crore through the issue.

It is estimated that at this issue price the company's market cap will be anywhere around Rs 1.1 lakh crore, which will make it the biggest listed company within the Anil Ambani empire and among the top 10 stocks on the Bombay Stock Exchange.

The company plans to use the issue proceeds to fund subsidiaries to part-finance the construction and development costs of its projects under development and for general corporate purposes.

SAT to hear complaints against Reliance Power IPO on Jan 14
MUMBAI: The Securities Appellate Tribunal will hear complaints filed against the initial public offer of Anil Ambani group firm Reliance Power Ltd on January 14, a day before the issue opens for subscription.

While admitting the appeal, the tribunal on Friday refused to stay the public offer and deferred the matter for hearing on January 14, sources said.

According to the company's red herring prospectus, some complaints have been filed and an appeal has been filed before the Securities Appellate Tribunal in relation to the IPO.

"An aggregate of 159 complaints were filed with various governmental agencies including SEBI, the Department of Company Affairs and the Government of India among others against the company, its promoters and the proposed IPO," the prospectus noted.

Reliance Power is offering 28.2 crore equity shares in a price band of Rs 405-450 apiece. The issue would open on January 15 and close on January 18. The company could raise Rs 11,700 crore at the upper band price.

"We are expecting to list in the first week of February," company chairman Anil Ambani said here while announcing the IPO plans for Reliance Power Ltd.

earlier message is meant for Mr. 724. Sorry Mr. prasad (727). pls excuse...
719. Raju |   Link |  Bookmark | January 4, 2008 6:51:04 PM
Mr. 727!

Just to get 100 odd shares you are going to open 4-5 extra demat a/c's as y'r broker suggested. Do let me know if your broker is going to open demat a/c's at free of cost and wavie off anual charges as well. Its foolishness.

As in today's press meet anil ambani suggested 30% of total shares is alloted for retail which inturn comes approx 6.6 crore shares which is big enough for retail segment.
