All retail investors planning to invest in Reliance Power IPO (or for that matter any IPO) should read the sensible message posted by 1466.jo. We blindly go by GMP / subscription figures instead of analysing the company's prospects objectively. This gives rise to disappointments / heartburns and financial loss. In this case it may be sensible to buy Reliance Energy at appropriate price or look at other listed peers in the power generation space with reasonable valuation.

All fellow IPO investors,

Anil Ambani is making a fool out of all of us.

He is spoiling the good name that Dheerubhai built over five decades. Consider this.

AAA enterprises holds 45% of post issue equity subscribed at Rs 10 per share. REL holds 45% of post issue equity subscribed again at Rs 10 per share. Now he is selling 10% of the balance at 10000 Crores @ 450 per share.

What has he to show for it? Dreams... Dreams of power plants that will come up in 8 years time and will involve further dilution of equity and a lot of debt in the future. At the expected listing price of 900 the Market cap of R power will be 200000 Crores. REL holds 45% of the company and has a mcap of 58000 crore now. So, REL will hold Rpower worth 90000 crore and is selling for 58000 crore! Why? Think think think! Because everyone thinks everyone else is a bigger fool and will be able to sell at 100% profit on listing day.
some of us may not be fools and may make money but subscribing to such grossly overpriced issue does disservice to the community of investors because ultimately someone will be left holding worthless shares at exorbitant prices.
so please avoid this stpid manipulative ipo

to 1468 raj,
tv18 came with 1400 per share ipo in 2000 and when market fell tv 18 fell to Rs.45
there is nothing bad or good..
one should simply see opportunity to make money .. which is available in this case.

As per prospectus, the PE ratio of the this scrip is 11600 times as per allotment price of ERs.450/- and if the same lists at around 900, the PE ration will be 23000. Any justification?

Still in doubt... If i apply for reliance power in retail section for 6 to 7 lots how many shares will be alloted.I am not sure of I get the allotment since it will be oversubscribed multiple times...In doubt whether i will get the allotment...other wise its a dead investment for 1 month without any returns.
