Buzz,

See my post earlier. No, if oversubscribed by over 4 times in retail, then your money will not be blocked and you can trade on day1.

A lot of us forget that until about a month back, Reliance Energy had a marketcap of about Rs 45,000 to Rs 50,000 crore and Reliance Power has a zero track record. So there is nothing to support the company in terms of financials or in terms of executions or credibility.

A lot of people say that we are not buying Reliance Power because of Reliance Power per say, we are buying because it belongs to the Anil Ambani Group, which in 3 years has seen its marketcap grow from more than Rs 15,000 crore to Rs 300,000 crore.

This group has delivered exceedingly well in terms of creating wealth and shareholder value and that’s a point well taken if the price performance of Reliance Energy or for that matter Reliance Capital is anything to go by.

But that is exactly my point - if one has to give credit to the group, then go ahead and buy a Reliance Energy, don’t put your money in Reliance Power, because at the end of the day Reliance Energy still has a lot going for it, post this issue, it will have a 45% equity of Reliance Power. Plus I think Reliance Energy is into various other businesses, be it EPC, infrastructure, power distribution and it’s worth anybody’s salt to be invested in Reliance Energy, rather than be looking at Reliance Power at this point in time.

Going by the frenzy created by Reliance Power, i think it may also follow the Footsteps of Reliance Petrolium.

When RPL IPO had come some few years back, it too created same kind of frenzy. It got listed at 101. But later settled for 85, and then around 65 which was its IPO price. Later it even got below its IPO price around 55.

Needless to say that now times have changed, but due to its frenzy among new investors, I feel more and more people are joining it for Short Term Gains.

So after listing day, don't be surprised if it trips all the listing gains in near term.
