Couple of questions - can you assess if the above is any different when you compare IPOs with 10% retail vs 35% retail; and can you also check if the trends are different if the listing is above / below IPO price and if listing is significantly above / below GMP?

I have some hypotheses (eg. 10% retail almost always goes up on listing day), but it'll be great to be validated and help take actions for future allotments

Take 5 min chart to catch price movement along with volumes. If it's move in uptrend then must be apply Trelling stoploss facilities.

I haven't done analysis on 10/35% retail differential. Interesting point as it may also have significant effect on volume selling. I have data for this may be some day sit over it.
On second point I did share an email last week somewhere and highlighted that on ipo listing above and below . Mostly if share is listed above GMP then fall / correction is expected by EOD/ couple of days , eg , Tata tech, Doms , Mankind, Jupiter etc . If listed below GMP then expected to touch it's GMP value slowly in some days mostly , eg., Zagle, Samhi, Manoj, RBZ, Sai silk, Jyoti, etc .

Of course once stabilised it moves normal course within 15 days or so .
This is applicable for say 70% of times with exceptions which can give surprises also .
Moral: investors who keep for few days over all gain XX then the losses in few % age.

​@Rakcyt Appears you have put lot of time and efforts along with your experience in carrying out the study you mentioned. Kudos for this interesting analysis you described. I consider myself as newbie and still learning the tricks of the trade. Would love to get some more insights to implement in this journey.

In my view, there cannot be a single strategy that works in every IPO during listing day as each IPO is of unique nature and factors prevailing in market mood and sentiments vary as well. Have realised that actual focus should be on capital protection if booking listing gain alone is not the only aim. In past, few of long-term bets have proved to be wealth multiplier. Some early exits have taught a lesson or two as price appreciated greatly soon after. Presently, I am following a simple strategy upon successful allotment by not succumbing to selling early and look for opportunities to add more in promising counters as per availability of funds. Learning mode is ON.

Just to share info related to another interesting study I came across, where the analyst using excel sheets has compiled all the main board IPOs in a year and shown the inference that even if someone has acquired those scrips on listing day, it would have resulted in giving overall returns in higher double digits despite few of these resulting in negative return territory during the holding period. It was a U-tube video presentation, which unfortunately was not saved and not traceable now. Imagine, no undue pressure of applying in IPO, no non-allocation disappointments and no complicated listing analysis.

My observation is more aligned with practical over the period and for 22% of allotted stocks. No recommendation to follow. This is just for investors who sells in pre open / upon opening .

​@Rakcyt This is very difficult for me to give my views and observation in this regard. Being a very long term investor from years with not much financial and not more accounts, I play a different strategy at different time. I have observed that some of my group members always belive in booking profit on listing. Even if it is goog or bad quality stock. The concept of pre-open is not so old. Even sHNI and bHNI is also not old. I never apply in bHNI. Beyond my financial. Whatever I got allotment in sHNI, I always sell 30% in pre open if giving profit. Due to Grace of God, as I apply in sHNI only in good IPOs, I have always at profit. In retail allotment I seldom sell in pre-open or on listing days. My experience after selling shares of D Mart and IRCTC on first day.
Your efforts are very good. Your investment in IPOs subscribing is good and so allotment.
But in general difficult to follow one strategy for such a big investing fraternity. Investors have different financial, some long term, some medium and some short term. But if we get good quality stock allotment, it's always better to keep it for long. Now these days I avoid buying from market. Only on one or two occasions. Being a person at this age my requirements are limited. A well placed pensioner, share market investment is for learning and earning. We always get as per our luck. But we always don't belive this.

For me Pre Open is like Blind you play in cards and open your cards on first instant even if it comes out to be jackpot Or colored sequence 😀😀

​@Ankur Goel One can apply for IPO using UPI mandate approval facility from any app like G-Pay and Phone-Pe. If funds are blocked from bank linked to applicant's PAN using any of these UPI utilities, it is not termed as third party application.

Sir you got the allotment by 3rd party UPI. pls confirm the which bank approve in 3rd party. Axis bank is able for 3rd party ??

​@Chhote Lal Why to complicate the scenario. I used my UPI I'd to apply from my relatives accounts. And I got allotment in one of those application. It is clearly third party when money is not debiting from applicant bank account.

Around 270 Will Be (30% Investment) For 2nd Buying.
