Punjab & Sind ke chances kya lag rahe hain??? I really agree with the boarders to reduce the limit from 2L to 1 L for retail segment.
Howcome the retail is getting oversubscribed by 44 times... surely HNI's are getting in through retail

INCREASINGTHE LIMIT FROM 1 LAC TO 2 LAC WAS THE MOST STUPID DECISION FROM SEBI.

EVEN INCOME TAC DEPARTMENT RAISES MINIMUM EXEMTED INCOME BY 10000-20000 AT A TIME...

OUR CORRUPT SEBI MEN HAVE DECIDED TO JUST DOUBLE THE LIMIT.....

WE SHOULD CONTINUE TO WRITE AGAINST THIS AT EVERY FORUM SO THAT THE MESSAGES GOES TO NEW SEBI CHIEF AFTER CB BHAVE, MAY BE HE TAKE A RIGHT CALL AND REDUCE THE LIMIT..

BEFORE TWO LAC LIMIT :

SKS - 1500 CRORES (RS. 2000 PER ONE LAC)
COAL INDIA - 11000 CRORES (GREY MARKET RATE WAS APPOX 5000 PER LAC)
POWERGRID - 10000 CRORES (GREY MARKET RATE WAS RS. 4500 THAT TIME)

AFTER 2 LAC LIMIT :

MOIL - 14000 CRORES ( GREY MARKET RS. 4500 FOR RS. 2 LAC APPL)
P&S BANK - 7000 CRORES (GREY MARKET PRICE RS. 2500 PER 2 LAC AT THAT TIME)

THIS CLEAR THAT SEBI HAS DONE THIS TO SAVE COST OF LEASD MANAGERS AND COMPANY PROMOTERS TO SAVE THEIR COST OF SUBSCRIPTION....

KEEP WRITING MAILS TO SEBI AND GOVT AGENCIES TO REDUCE THE RETAIL LIMIT TO ONE LAC BACK......

My case presented below is not for supporting the increase in limit to 2 lakhs. It certainly affects the real retail investor who has lesser money and can apply only a few lots. So I strongly feel that there is no necessity to have increased the limit to 2 lakhs. Instead of helping the small retail investors, it is only helping the big fish among the retail category.
My argument is that HNIs eating into retail category is insignificant.

If some more issues fail in the coming months, those who came seeing the success of Coal India will vanish. This is only cyclical, people storming in on seeing success and disappearing after experiencing failure. People like us, who stick to the primary market, will have to see through this cycle and wait patiently.

In the present circumstances I feel SEBI can help the retail investors bu cutting 5% each from QIB and NII quota and adding it to retail quota making it 45%. As QIBs play a major role in the price discovery, their quota cannot be cut much. NII quota is 15% only, out of which cutting more than 5% may not be possible.

The increase in the retail subscription could be due to the increase in the number of retail investors attracted towards the market due to the mushrooming effect of the success of IPOs like Coal India. It is also due to some retail investors having more money but lesser number of accounts using the 2 lakh limit.
Scrutiny of MOIL application pattern reveals that while 304774 applied in the 1 lakh category (255 shares), 364102 applied in the 2 lakh category (527 shares)alone. In between 1 lakh and 2 lakhs, there were roughly 125000 applications, making it more than 490000 applications in the more than 1 lakh category. Out of this, HNIs intruding into retail quota could be only in 1000s which will not make a bigger impact in the overall retail subscription.

Dear Sreedhar/Ravi, Bangalore,
The notion that HNIs are eating into the retail category after the increase in limit to 2 lakhs is, though correct, could not be having bigger impact in my opinion. Take the example of MOIL, where, the retail applicants were nearly 13 lakhs but the HNIs were only 2400 or so. Historically, the HNIs were only thousands number, and of them those applying for about 2 lakhs would be very very lesser to have any bigger impact on the retail quota.
