Final figures :

QIB 2.85
NII 0.22
Retail 1.18

.18 of retail will surely do stop payment and so get ready for full allotment for those of you applied !

Fools Brooker - I stand corrected on point 2.

Since it was not on ASBA, the cost would be 10.5% and you are right on the cost. The broker commission would offset this to some extent.

Rs.75-Rs.41 => Rs.34/-. So the effective cost of bond is Rs.9966/- approx

Fools Brooker - I don't deny your points. But

1) I could observe that buy orders of 100, 250 existed today during trade hours which mean that not only the pensioners are interested but also the interest is shown by HNIs & QIBs.(Lets keep in mind that FIIs are not allowed to trade these bonds).

2) I have worked out that the least cost of interest for OD aginst FD is 7%.(You may pl refer to my earlier post). SBI has paid the same 7% interest back to us and therefore the effective cost of application is NIL.

3) Moreover I have mentioned right during the time of application that the commission paid by brokerages is attractive apart from other benefits. Most of the members I believe have got commission varying from 0.75% onwards. This works out to Rs.75/- per bond. Therefore the effective cost of each bond is Rs.9925/- and whenever the break even is low it justifies holding the bonds atleast for sometime if not hold on a very long term basis.

Bj,
I hv already given the reasons. If not for this inflation stubbornness it would have traded higher.Yesterday itself banks have said deposit rates have peaked ,there may be maximum of 25-50 more basis point hike.

Sreedhar,
Even though recently these N2 series has been ex-interest ,I dont understand why is it trading at such a high premium(2.5 - 3%).

VAS NAT

N1 BONDS ARE HAVING INTERST ON QUATERLY BASIS HENCE MORE PEOPLE

LIKE THESE BONDS AND THE BONDS ARE ALSO IN SHORT SUPPLY

N2 BONDS HAVE CUMULATIVE YEILD IE QUATERLY INTEREST IS ADDED AND

YEARLY INTEREST PAID

N3 BONDS CARRY INTEREST OF RS 9.75% ON YEARLY BASIS IE RS 9750 PER

LAKHS

N4 BONDS CARRY INTEREST OF RS 9.95% ON YEARLY BASIS IE RS 9995 PER

LAKHS

THOSE WHO ARE SHORT OF MONEY ARE SELLING BONDS WHILE OTHERS WHO REQUIRE

QUATERLY INTEREST N1 BONDS ARE BUYING IE PENSIONERS OR RETIRED PERSONS

N3 AND N4 BONDS WERE ON 21 FEB 2011 AND NEARLY ONE MONTH HAS PASSED

MONEY IS STUCK IE AT 11% OD INTEREST COMES TO RS 40.75 PER BOND

10000*11% = 94.25 - 53.5 (INTEREST RECIVED) =RS 40.75

I HAVE AN TARGET OF RS 9900 9800 FOR N3 N4 BONDS BECAUSE 50% HAVE APPLIED

FOR LISTING GAINS OF RS 500 PER RS 10000

SO ON THE FIRST DAY THERE WILL BE SELLERS AND TO ABSORB MONEY THEY WILL

TO SELL AT ANY RATE ALSO HNI CANNOT PURCHASE THESE RETAIL BONDS
TODAYS RATE FOR SENIOR CITIZEN IS 10.5% SO BOND YEILD WILL BE LESS FOR N3 AND N4

SO N1 AND N2 BONDS WILL BE AVAIBLEON PRO RATO BASIS BUT N1 BONDS WILL

HAVE DEMAND FOR QUATERLY INTEREST

AL THESE BONDS ARE VERY GOOD AND IN FACT WHEN INTEREST RATES COME DOWN TO

8% THEY WILL BE TRADED AT PREMIUM

I MAY BE WRONG IN VIEWS BUT PL SHARE YOUR VIEWS IF TRADE IN BONDS DEBIT MARKET

YOU CAN HELP ME

Fools Brooker - I agree the trade in SBI N1 & N2 bonds is dull today. But pl clarify

1) Why at all there are buyers of N1 & N2 when it is clear that N3 , N4 bonds at higher interest rates are going to be listed shortly.

2) N3 , N4 bonds are issued at much larger size compared to N1 & N2 bonds & the liquidity will be high and knowing this why there are buyers for N1, N2 bonds?

3) If you have target of 9900 for N4 bonds, then what will be the corresponding N3,N2,N1 rates. 9800,9700,9600 ????
