Can any one tell , how can I buy shares of power grid from grey market before listing?

I aplled thru ICICIDirect and did not got the refund. The custmer care ppl tld that it might take 7-10 days aft allotment, But i tld them i know ppl who got refund, they replied tht it depends on registar(Karvy: 0402341553, 18003454001) and they might refund thru cheque also. Can an1 clarify this?
