Can some one explain..how do we rate whether an IPO is good or bad based on the grey market premium?

powergrid is a infrastructure co and have almost monopoly in inetrstate transmission of power. power generation depends upon powergrid it to send and sell to desired customers.

with the past perfromances of ntpc and pfc (both power sector companies), ipo rate seems to be very attractive and also large no of shares on sale is also a charming factor to apply for this issue.........if we see the grey market discussions, still there is premium of around 13-14 over the issue price of 52.

i have applied for the IPO where Karvy was the registar, i have good experience with them , when i have E-mailed they have replied promtly.Refund also was prompt.

KARVY IS REGISTAR FOR POWER GRID
Thy give refund by ECS & NEFT to most of application, so even if u r nt having bank a/c in 15 city ( for ECS ), then thy will give u via NEFT. I got refund for ZYLOG & HDIL via NEFT.
Power Grid will subscribe max 5 times in retail being an mega issue.

this issue may not show a good response from the public, since Issue Open : September 10, 2007 to September 13, 2007 but september 11 is very bad day, and who knows about 12th in which way the market behaves....so its difficult to say how the public respond on this

i had a bad experience with CBI.cheque lost in post etc etc.
