I do not think it is correct to compare NTPC vs. PGIL. One is in power generation and the latter is in transmission.

The discounting for transmission cos. is generally lower than power generating cos.

Going by the trend in PGCIL price, it seems unwinding before FPO has begun whee in xisting holders exit at current price and reenter through FPO at much less price making neat gain of 15-20%. It seems its price will stabilise at around 97-100 levels at the time of GOM meeting at around 5/6th to fix band. Considering a price difference of 10%, the price band could be Rs. 85-88 and for retail category after discount the effective rate could be Rs.84-85.Now considering the expeced EPS for FY '11 of 6.45 that is available at PE of 13 which is quite cheap considering historical PE of 18-19 enjoyed by the company. PGCIL has to be bracketed alongwith NTPC, a utility, which also trades at PE of 19-20 times. The Pre-issue price to Book is 2.40 which will improve to 2.25 after the FPO. Taking a conservative PE of 16 after FPO the expected price comes to Rs.100-102, which is reasonable and attainable povided no untoward happens in the period up to listing. So there is margin of Rs.15-17 and issue could be subscribed maximum of 4-5 times hence per lac return could be in the range of Rs.3500/-. Those looking for gains above this may be disappointed and should wait for some other issue as gains above this upon listing will be stiff. The issue at Rs.84-85 to retail is better option than buying NTPC at current levels of Rs 197/- which is trading at PE of 19.70 and P/Book of 2.57.

On relative valuation basis to NTPC & NHPC, I have estimated its fair value as Rs.95.

If FPO is priced at 90 for QIBs & Rs.90 for Retailers, then it appears to be OK.

I am waiting for brokerage house reports to collect further information. If it is priced around Rs.100, then NHPC & NTPC is better-bet for long-term investors.

Powergrid is currently trading at Rs. 101.85 (52 week low Rs. 95 and high of Rs 121.45) so look for what value the FPO comes out and then invest.

CHITTORGARH Team should appoint some screening officers who after screening of messages, put them for display..

but banning "anonymouse" totally is wrong.

hardly 10% messages are coming..
