Can experts throw light on a clarification which i have while applying ipo.

i have 2 accounts one in my name and one in my mothers name. I want to invest in powergrid 2 full applications. Can i give the cheque in my name for my mothers account as well. Will third party cheque acceptable for applying in any ipo/powergrid ipo. I heard from somebody in Coal india blog saying that his application got rejected becoz he appleied in two different accounts.

Please some boarders proide your honest comments on the above issue.
