Many thanks to Mr. Pandit and Mr. Jayant Takloo for clarifying my doubt about HNIs effective price for FPO. Now the question is, it is said that HNIs are smart investors compared to Retail Investors and now a days at Stock Exchange the Power Grid price is around Rs.100/- and I understand that HNI investors are short term profit takers and not long term investors like Retailers. So under the circumstances how they will gain. Will they be satisfied with 1 or 2 rupees profit (i.e. on FPO trading day if the price quotes at Rs.101/- or Rs.102/-. Can any one reply to this point. I repeat my question again i.e. HNI effective cost is going to be around Rs.100/- for Power Grid FPO and presently the scrip quoting around Rs.100/- in BSE and HNIs FPO subscription rate is 28% so how they will benefit. What would be their fund to gain profit? Can anyone reply.

Chillax Vijay..

HNI s go for short term funding for huge exposures in FPO s and for that they have to pay the interests till the time the stock is listed.... 100 rupees will be their break even considering this...

Mr Vijay Nair,

Generalli HNI investments are on borrowed money, the cost of getting one share considering intrest costs and other costs like processing fees etc is the effective cost, as the oversubscription is now known, one can calculate the number of shares an HNI applicant may be getting, thus the effective cost per share is also derived, this price is very useful in determining the share price on Listing/First trading day, hope I have answered you query

I read in today's Times of India (Ahmedabad edition) that price band for HNI is Rs.100/-. Is it possible?. The news is confusing it is written like this "So the effective cost of Power Grid shares for HNIs work out to Rs.100/-". What does this mean. Y/day the shares were available at Rs.99/- at BSE and in FPO HNI's quote oversubscribed at about 18 times. What is the meaning of this news item, can anyone clarify?

Final figure @ 11pm comes to retail subs @ cut off 3.31 times. One should expect around 350 shares.

336 to 338 shares will be allotted to the retailer who bid at cut-off
and maximum ammount
because retail at cut-off the subscription is 3.28 times
1009. friend |   Link |  Bookmark | November 13, 2010 7:36:57 AM
desi banda,
retail subscription 3.85 times, employee portion fully subscribed, that means 287 plus shares only.
1008. patel |   Link |  Bookmark | November 13, 2010 7:31:48 AM
287 sher shuld be allot!!!
[ 10 sher + or - ]
1007. desi banda |   Link |  Bookmark | November 13, 2010 6:49:45 AM
The employee portion is not subscribed fully at cut-off price. There are (3389600 - 2985905 = 403695) shares left in that category which would be made available in Retail.
Retail then has 293432526 + 403695 = 293836221 share avaialble. Retail is subscribed shares 967213260 at cut-off. So effectively, Retail is oversubscribed (967213260 / 293836221 = 3.29) times.
So approximately, for full application, one can expect (1105 / 3.29 = 335) shares

I think you are right.Calculating from NSE and BSE bid details the over subscription comes around 3.82.So full lot application may be allotted around 290 shares. So friends can we expect at least Rs 3000/-?
