Experts.. Please Explain Why would Powergrid price rise during FPO listing ? The buyers can buy in any quantity now itself at CMP... so what could be the reason it could trade 20% higher than the FPO issue price i.e. around 110 when it is currently available at 100 ....

POWERGRID AAJ BHI FUTURE MAIN DOWN HAI LISTING PAR SABKO LOOT LEGA KOOT DEGA
Further, to clarify. When company is listed through IPO, then owners ( Govt. of India for powergrid) holds some stake, which cannot be traded in the market. When again, they want to release their stake, they can release it through FPO to list new shares equivalent to the % of dilution. In this case, Govt. is dis-investing 10% more.. so now, 20% is in the Market and Govt holds 80%.
What is listing ? Listing doesn't necessarily mean that listing of the company. A company gets listed in the exchange through IPO while it lists all the offered shares, that's correct. Similarly, when it is FPO, it is correct to say that it will list the FPO, so what you heard in CNBC interview is correct. It is going to list all the shares offered through FPO. At the same time, it is also true that there won't be any surprises for price discovery as the company is already listed.
Again, why they fix a price band for FPO.. It is not confusing because when there will be more number of shares in the market, then it still needs to discover the new price as demand might change because of supply of new shares OR because some entity might be interested to have more stake.
So, for FPO also, it is correct to say that shares will list on 23rd November.
Moneycontrol has given an interview with sh Chaturvedi,CMD of Power GRid according to that FPO share will list on 23nov.what does it mean?I take it as if new shares are allotted these are bound to be listed. However in case of change of hand i.e.selling of govt stake,no such listing is required. Will anybody correct me if I am wrong?
1215,ortho ortho, Power Grid is an FPO and so it is like an old wife. Not much attraction, unless it shows performance. Sreedhar, who is an expert in understanding and analyzing, feels it will show performance and improvement in the near future. If I were in your position I would be following what he says. So ask him and do whatever he says. Had it been an IPO, which is like a new wife who will have more attraction, for its subscription of nearly 19 times in the QIB category and 29 times in the NII category it should have listed anywhere around 120-125. Unfortunately it is not the case.
Dear friends- I`ve 500 shares of powergrid @ 106 Rs.Now i`ve applied for 3 full application of powergrid FPO. Now i`m thinking to Pre-book the profit, as i think ,i`ll have more then 500 shares(About 1000-on FPO allotment of 3 full application) ,at Rs 85.50. So If i sell 500 powergrid on 18-11-10 @ 100 Rs-Then i`ll have about 15 rs profit on allotment. Means 15 * 500= 7500. rest amount of shares i`ll again hold,as previous. Am i right. Please guide me. Thanks.
