Can the experts plz suggest if I shud sell the loss making paytm shares, I am already at a loss of 5000 rs. The actual value of the company should be 1150-1200 and it was highly over priced but I still went ahead and subscribed to the ipo under retail.
Plz advise.

Please see my post on the first day of listing. While most "decorated" pundits talked of dumping the share, I was the only one who recommended "averaging" of shares citing that most of the TOP international investors would not let their investments erode. Kabhi humare bhi baath suniye!!!

Loss widens to 473 crore. Hope now share will touch 2500 soon. Trend is ulta, SAIL profit increase 10 times and see where that is. So expecting to cover payTM loss next week
Their reporting seems over-zealous and desperate to me. > Use (abuse) of multiple operating metrics and non-GAAP metrics to demonstrate yoy, qoq etc traction. Agreed that GAAP metrics may not do justice to Internet era businesses but if they can''t explain it simply then I guess there is simply nothing to explain > Reporting Adjusted EBITDA excluding ESOP expenses is meaningless. If Paytm price recovers, I expect ESOP expenses to increase > Not sure why Software, Cloud and Data center expenses are not part of Total Direct Expenses (given that Could & Commerce revenue exists) > All Indirect Expenses have grown at nearly the same rate as Revenue > Overall Contribution Profit has improved significantly but EBITDA loss has increased at the same rate qoq as has revenue and with such high increase in expenses, the path to even an EBITDA breakeven seems long and winding!
In continuation of my post No. 603, I would like to read the results as a "bloomer ". 28% increase in EBITA loss q-o-q will be hard for the market to digest irrespective of the increase in revenue, unless I am missing something.
For the first time since its listing, I''m seeing way more Bid quantity than Sell quantity on NSE on a day when it almost hit LC again. Interesting turn of events!
Though at this price and any price well south of the current price, it remains a strong AVOID for me! Many of us are already carrying exposure to it via our MF investments though, unfortunately!
That has happened multiple times if one notices frequently, and it doesn''t say anything much as Total Bid / Ask can be manipulated by anybody with big pockets. One just need to place an outlandish buy order at the lower circuit, it happens in so many stocks and it doesn''t indicated anything...
Agreed...it happens often! But saw it happen for Paytm for the first time and with almost 1.5x Bid vs Sell quantity but it did change fairly swiftly and didn''t seem manipulated as the depth was quite even spread.
However, having been a Basis trader in the past, I disagree that it doesn''t say much but to each their own! Keep minting!
It says manythings. It shows buyers in the lower level may be manipulators . They want to show there is huge buyers. If it is actually manipulators , you will see abrupt change in the figure when reversion takes place. This is a common tactics. Have you seen any abrupt change ,sir ?
@Asoke Sarkar - You''re absolutely right. This and much more can be gleaned from depth stats.
As for abrupt change, well yes - the post 10 am peak for Paytm was at about 14:40 pm which is about the time I noticed the depth and commented. Thereafter, it trended lower :)
@ Neolongus I could not follow it today for some engagement. What you say is clear. See , the huge buy bid was given so that it does not get LC today. After 2.40pm it was out of water , so bids were withdrawn to see whats happening without their participation . The progress was a normal one without any strong up or down. Today they have saved the share from LC , may be because of two things. 1. To create a provision for 20% LC tomorrow so that they can buy at further lower level and then play reverse. 2. Market and recently listed shares are dismantled. Today''s 20% down could have decimated the sentiment leading to a very awkard situation. Whatever be the fact , tomorrow a bounce back from lower level may be expected. Tomorrow is the day for auctioning the shorts of Thursday ,
Insider trading.... First spread bad news so that IPO tanks.... Buy your own shares through subsidiaries for lowest price possible. Manipulate prices to go up by announcing Quarterly results date. Take the IPO money as well as trading money. Win win. it will tank again on Monday.
Thanks @Asoke - Didn''t apply in this one in the IPO, didn''t buy during the carnage, not buying the recent up-move either. Happy without having the app on my phone or the stock in my portfolio and unhappy about my MF''s having invested in it substantially. But enjoying studying the price performance of Paytm and Sigachi - lot to learn!

@monster zero There is no need to spread bad news about the company when the company itself is bad and objectiveless 🤣🤣 But i do agree with the price manipulation.....MFs buying is basically damage control and they''ll dump it in future on retailers who expect the stock to do better.
If Paytm can show profits tomorrow, sure to cross IPO price in the immediate future, if losses are reduced considerably qoq- expect around 2000 but, what if it is a bloomer???? Just curiosity....
Hi All I urge investors to exit the Paytm at earliest. With the existing fundamentals My valuation model predicts Paytm at 70cr mkt cap for next 1year. So the stock price can go to Rs:800 per share. The valuation model works only if current fundamentals remains same.
@Sagar Dasa May I request you to explain the relation between fundamentals of a share with its market cap that you have developed a model on the basis of it ?
@ Sagar dasa First understand what means by ''fundamental '' of a share. Then understand what is market cap. You are the first man in the world who has been able to develop a valuation model on the basis of fundamental and market cap. Congratulation for this success 😅😅😅
Mutual Funds, QIBs and HNIs, who subscribed @2150 will not let it go down easily. Listing day actual delivery volume is Rs 1 Crore shares, means they are averaging. I don''t think it will fall again drastically on monday again.
350 years in market and going strongggggggg......................

it will be good for many retailers who are still holding in paytm if issue price comes in this year but it will be too early to judge this. let the price stabilize above 1700 for some days, that will be a good sign if that happens. Many retailers sold at big loss in initial 2 days due to great fear sentiment created on each forum/news.
Friends ....Today''s appreciation in stock price, was there genuine buying or mostly short covering....it is a question for understanding sake ....I am not invested in this stock.
