One thing is sure. Nowadays, face value seems to have no meaning during listing of new IPOs. So, who are we to talk about high valuations ? Nykaa and PB are both popular brands, which itself will give phillip to the stocks. Cartrade & Aptus retainees, watch out for their results this week and decide for yourselves.
Had posted a very lengthy message (took almost 5 min to write😅), which chittorgarh team did not post here on the forum..Are yaar aise mat kro..bura lagta hai, etni mehnat se likho fir aap post bhi na kro.. But I guarantee it was carrying some value irrespective of repetitive messages of issue information.

While the verdict on valuation is still to be out , ICICI direct is allowing pre application to the IPO since last three days , what a sense of urgency. Wish to know if other lead managers also allowing something similar.
Nykaa is an emerging e-tailing beauty and fashion business in India with a strong portfolio of brands, asset-light business model and a strong balance sheet. With consumers shifting to branded products both in urban and tier-2/3 markets and changing buying patterns of consumers with rising preference to online/e-commerce platform, the growth potential for a company like Nykaa is huge in India. At upper end / lower end of the price band the company is trading at 15.7x/16.3x its FY2022E annualised sales. A consumer-centric business platform, experienced management team and strong growth prospects in domestic consumer market will help Nykaa to scale up revenues and profitability in the coming years.

After seeing so many posts regarding high valuations or cartrade comparison etc etc , i just want to say : Thanks everyone, who wants to avoid this ipo, for increasing allotment chances for others who needs allotment. We are interested in listing gains which definitely will be and subscriptions in QIB/HNI will also be great. Whoever don''t trust, don''t apply, simple :)
Agree with you Lokes. Definitely listing gains will be there and people who are looking for short term gains without much interest in growth, valuation can apply.
Also, one other point to note is promoter holding is very strong at 52.56% after issue from 54.22. They are just offering less than 2.5% shares and that should give some comfort to investors. almost 90% of the OFS is from other selling shareholders mainly the private equities firms and venture capitalists

And as per CEO, they have left enough on the table for investors ;) Whatever it is, issue is going to subscribe a lot and definitely around 50% or more listing gains will be there and whoever those talking here above expensive valuations or any other reason, all those are definitely going to apply on day 3 :)

Guys, zomato ke time pe bhi aisi baate thi ki expensive hai, loss making, ye hai, wo hai.. Stop believing all this msgs since I think apna allotment chances badhane ke liye bas dusro ko darate hai... Just simply go on GMP details and don''t get scared by this high valuation msgs.. 50% up nahi khula toh bhi 25% up khulega hi... Unlisted me toh iski demand bahut high hai and I feel it will definitely list more den 50% up..
lets wait for anchor, it will clear the clouds at some level. if you are comparing this with zomato, then we should expect anchor list at same level of zomato.

There are few ipos jisme niche khula GMP se... There are few ipos jisme upar khula GMP se... but more often den not, mostly GMP is getting followed.. and 55% GMP raatoraat 0 toh nahi hoga... Nykaa is a household name like Zomato and unlike ROLEX or CARTRADE or APTUS or jo bhi examples ho GMP failures wale.. (very few%)
If you are comparing this IPO with zomato IPO, consider below points about zomato to try to match with nykaa - at present Zomato and Swiggy only two players in indian market in food delivery services. - Zomato backed by strong foreign investors
At current GMP, Nykaa''s market cap will be around 85,000 crore. This is with an annual revenue of 2,400 crore and it only just became profitable. Compare that with Titan whose market cap is 2.1 lac crore, with annual revenue of 22,000 crore and consistently profitable every year. And Titan itself is considered to be quite overvalued, so you can imagine why experts think Nykaa is a highly expensive bet.
Ok here we go... Nykaa grew at 38% from last year in revenue... it''s growth the previous year was 59%.. Overall 1100 crore se 2440 crore in 2 years.. Can we compare this with titan? Agar ye apan maane ki next 2 years bhi rahega rate since ab pandemic khatam ho raha and recovery shuru hai, toh 5500 crore hoga revenue in 2023... Clean, Tatva, Ami ye sab high CAGR wale companies thi and market always give a thumbs up to such companies... Titan toh as of now, Growth stagnant company hai... Even future doesn''t look that bright... Smart watch, Fitness band ke zamane me watches bechna? Nykaa is going to grow for sure bcz it''s into eCommerce and it will have the same trajectory as amazon fk Indiamart being the price example..
You''re missing the point. I''m not going to buy a stock at ANY valuation just because revenue doubled in 2 years. Just for context, Nykaa became a unicorn in April 2020 at $1.2 billion valuation. At today''s GMP, it is valued at $12 billion. So what massive change happened in the business in the past 18 months to justify a 10x rise in share price?
Coming to Titan, over 80% of its revenue comes from its jewelry segment. Even if its watch business gets shut down, the company will continue to grow solely from its jewelry operations. Besides, it has already forayed into smart watches and fitness bands, so there''s that. You''re right, we shouldn''t even be comparing 50-100 rupees lipstick with lacs of rupees worth designer jewelry with huge brand recall.
Nice discussion.. age old debate about Value vs Growth. I believe both a place in your portfolio. This is called barbell strategy (for further reading check Nassim Taleb books). Look at Tesla with PE 333 and earlier amazon notorious for showing loses for decades. With exponential growth , PE drastically reduces over time. of course there is a chance of failure, but risk will pay off when it is spread across multiple stocks.

As you know e commerce is already commoditzed and Flipkart and amazon being first movers with deep pockets, will rule it. Though reliance and tata can give competition but will be ''also runs''. Only option for new entrants will be building specialization and slowly expand to adjacencies. Nykaa will be a long term story, I am applying. Since market may be volatile, will build position slowly.
