I think issue of nhpc will go great guns. The company is going to comission 2000 MW til 2010.And at then thy profile of compny,EPS will look much better as comparision to other power sector companies as the cost of fuel is literally nil.Hence people should must apply in this ipo.
NHPC and NTPC were established together. while NTPC generates over 20000 MW today NHPC generates 5000 MW.should we expect similler pattern in profit from ipo
its good issue, but steeply priced, big equity, low EPS,low dividend. Its a better be called social public issue than, still can give good return on listing. See last GDR/QIP of Power Trading,Tata power,Suzlon subscribed, there is demand for POWER Scrips thus can be decent listing also.
I think this IPO is priced very aggressively, it should have been issued at a price band of around 20-25. The P/E of over 30 is quite high comparing to others in the power sector. May be there will be sustantial gain on listing but it will come down near to issue price (or even lower) when the initial enthusiasm is over (unless there is a very strong bull market). So, please consider this before apply
REC -Though listed around Rs 120 against offer price of Rs 105, It's y'day closing price was Rs 203/-. It had listed some 15 months back and was at a discount to its offer price for quite a few months after that.
Hence NHPC should be great even in long term even though it is very aggressively priced.

NHPC IPO - A sincere and serious view The issue is very aggressively priced. The share at its upper band is available at PE of 33/34 in comparison PSUs like NTPC, Powergrid, REC are much much cheaper.
Apply, must apply but dont expect much more. NTPC was priced at 62 and at the time of listing day it was available around 78/80. Petronet LNG IPO was priced at Rs. 15 and listed at 14/15 (Now after 4/5 years it is at 70 level)
The IPO is not likely to reward the investors even in long term. The investors can apply only for long term (only for 15/20 percent) annual gains.
Dont expect much from this IPO, if the market goes down one can see listing at par or even at a minor discount.
