Most messages in this forum are just "pass-time type, without any basis. The ugly fact is that most IPOs are very aggressively overpriced, including the Govt. ones, where the lower officials always try to please their bosses by putting up the final pricing e.g. GIC, CICILombard etc. etc.
@Oriental - This is the way a public (specially free) forum works. There will be lot of noise but also gem of information will be scattered here & there. Boarders will need to put some effort to locate the info which may be useful for them. It is not a customer service of a professional company where some one can always put any question and get specific answers.
There is no point in criticising a forum. Fact is that we are here indicates it is useful so leverage it to the best for your needs and also look how you can contribute to the forum with useful information.
After NIA government has lined up 8000 Cr mammoth, India 22 ETF (pls excuse if the name is wrong). So they will have to bail out retail if they want subscription in the ETF.
Due to the GIC debacle, they have offered 3% discount to all the investors i.e. QIB, NII as well as Retail !!!
aab honi ko kon tal sakta he. this is the differance between retail investor and smart investor. for example jis product ki price 100 ho to why ham 120 pe buy kre. but best of luck for making loss. and yad rakhna har bar aese IPO ko bchane LIC nahi aayega .
No Kostak / GMP / Sub 2 or 2L application for NIA is being offered by Grey Market Punters as they have badly burned their hands in GIC. Seeing the trend I feel people who apply for NIA will get full allotment and the result may be even worse than GIC.
Now I understand why there was no separate Anchor Investor Allotment in case of GIC. Will NIA have separate Anchor Investor Allotment? Is there anybody other than LIC willing to invest in these giant and inefficient PSUs?
@Manjitji: I am talking about making the Anchor Investor list public. If they had shown that only LIC had shown interest to become Anchor Investor, GIC IPO would have got much poorer response from Retail.
I do not understand why people cry in this forum when there is no listing gain in an IPO. The company / govt comes up with an IPO coz it requires funds, and not to fill investor''s pocket.
And most importantly if you want to make money by investing then identify undervalued companies and invest. Why rely only on IPOs to make money ?? As it is quick money without any hard work ??
Same reason you have discounts around Festivals. If you leave something for RII, everyone is happy. No one wants to lose hard earned money. We don''t want to cry but when an IPO lists at discount, tears come out automatically.
I am a retail investor myself and cant even afford to apply in HNI category. There are IPOs which will give 100% listing gains and there will be ones which lists in discount. What I have a problem is people complaining about it. Just avoid the IPO if its not worth it. No point in blaming the company or the underwriter.
And as far as discount in festivals is concerned, well festivals are there 3-5 times are year. Not 25-30 times as in the case of IPOs.
Well. To be honest, Chittorgarh is a platform for IPO discussion and all the negative comments help. One would do extra homework before investing. Fellow members helped me stay out of SChand, Educare, IEX, SBI Life etc. Just passing the Baton. You would similarly see a bunch of positive comments for good IPOs.
Aaj kal sabhi ipo laane wali companies high price par ipo laa rahi hai . Retail investor ke liye kuch bhi gain nahi chod rahi hai.sabko pata hai retail investor aankh band karke ipo me paisa laga rahe hai isliye companies high valuations par share price rakh rahi hai.sbi life , icici lombard ,gic re ,sis ,matrimony ,sab high valuation par leke aaye .retail ke liye kuch nahi rakha .. Jab koi share issue price bhi niche listing ke baad mil raha hai phir ipo me bid kyo karna ? Kaha ki samajhdaari hai yeh ? Hard earned money par at least 10 % bhi listing gain nahi mile to phir kyo apply karna ..so clear avoid this ipo
totally agree. This platform helps a lot of ordinary retail investors like us in identifying good / bad ipos. 5-6 ipos are lined up in the next 2-3 weeks. few are expected to give over 20% listing gains and few will open in discount. A retail investor might make or lose 1-2K based on higher/lower pricing but the company will get crores of extra money and higher valuation. At a time nifty is trading at 27 PE its quite natural for companies to price it higher. My advice to ordinary investors like me is - dont complain. Follow the advice of forum leaders and keep calm. The company coming out with IPO is here to raise funds not to make retail investors rich. Think from the side of the company / investment banker as well. If you think an IPO aint good enough, just avoid. No point in crying and blaming.
@ Koustav Mazumdar ---- there is so much obtrusive ''karyness'' filling up your post. wonder what''s the gist of it ..'' To hell with the investors'' ? Their welfare is none of the business of the promoters? in a economy that craves public savings and investment?, Lol!!...This reminds me of a song my uncle liked a lot. '' Hum Naa samjhe the, Baat itni si, Khwab sheeshe ke, Duniya patthar ki.<-------+ allow me to dedicate late it to all retail invetors on here. howazat guys?
I do not agree with this statement that company is here only to raise money. Guys remember the key word in IPO...it is ''Initial'' . We are ''Initial'' investors in the company (of course after promoters). We are taking maximum risk in the company by believing in the value of the company in the eyes and mind of public. Hence though not legally binding, companies are ethically responsible for leaving something on the table for investors.l
Guys just compare risk and reward ratio in this ipo. 2 lacs ki application par profit 2 to 4 % maybe ..but down side risk 10 to 15 %... 2 lacs ki application par profit kewal 2000 se 4000 aur yadi discount par list hua to loss 15000 to 20000 .. " Bahut naainsaafi hai yeh to " Gic kaa experience to yahi kehta hai ..
Why not we hear the saner words of people like Mr Dilip Devda. We jump to conclusion just based on one experience. ICICI Lombard overpriced. But giving some returns.NIA is a direct insurance company like ICICI Lombard. I feel buy is the right thing after seeing ICICI Lombard performance now.

After weak listing of GIC many people saying to avoid it but everybody knows that more IPOs are coming in bull market or we can say that when market making new highs every day so that they can sell there shares at high price and some times even highly priced IPO gave good listing gain. So i think let''s wait for the last day last moment of this IPO to decide whether to apply or not. If we see in the past when ICICI Pru IPO came and every one said it''s highly priced and the response also not good and no listing gain so at the time of ICICI Lombard most of person avoid it keeping in mind the listing of ICICI Pru but it''s listing was better than Pru. Now everybody saying that Pru is better than others @400. So let''s wait and watch and it''s so early to say avoid. Very less companies come up with fair price in this bull market. HUM APNA KHUD KA FAYDA DEKHTE OR VO APNA KHUD KA FAYDA DEKHTE HAI. IS TEJI SASTA MAAL KOI NAHI BECHNA CHAHTA HAI.....
Gic kaa share listing ke din issue price se kaafi niche 780 ke aas paas mil raha tha usi tarah new india kaa bhi issue price se kaafi niche milega. Jisko invest karna hi hai is ipo me ,wo ipo me lene ke bajay baad me bhi le sakte hai aasani se kam rate par .. Be smart and earn smartly ..
@lokes apply nahi karna hai to mat karo bhai...itna chillane ki kya zarurat hai... Govt. Ko itna hi Kos ( Curse) rahe ho to ek baat Bata do...aaj tak share market main agar kuch kamaya hai to use kabhi tax pay Kiya hai kya?
Second thing is that govt. is begging short term capital gain tax irrespective of annual income bracket.
Kindly check all PSU govt. company stocks and then post how many percentage of them have given return to investors.

@prashu: I am salaried person so automatically giving tax to government and regarding shares profit, I have given 2500Rs tax for my short term gain last financial year and no tax on my long term gains and dividend....I don''t do trading (intraday)
Valuation of Price to book is 1.77 against 8 times of ICICI Lombard. Networth including Fair Value is Rs, 38000 Crores. P/E ratio is 30 times which is Good. Good Investment to Consider.
If compared with GIC Listing We need to compare Apple to Apple. New India assurance and Icici lombard are direct insurance companies. ICICI Lombard shares are giving marginal returns on listing. NIA can be compared with ICICI Lombard. NIA valuation is fair at 1.77 against 8 times of ICICI Lombard. The huge asset base of the Company is just behind LIC. Comparing ICICI Lombard, the NIA price is FAIR and Good to BUY.
Can you please tell how you arrived at 30 p/e? RHP says 72~75. Please clear my doubt. Thanks.
