good story murasu, thanks for explaining the so called "complex mechanism" in such simple story,,, ha ha.

Mark Twain ;
“November. This is one of the peculiarly dangerous months to speculate in stocks. The others are July, January, September, April, October, May, March, June, December, August and February.”

Once upon a time in a village, a man appeared and announced to the
villagers that he would buy monkeys for Rs10.

The villagers seeing that there were many monkeys around, went out to the
forest and started catching them.

The man bought thousands at Rs10 and as supply started to diminish, the
villagers stopped their effort. He further announced that he would now buy
at Rs20. This renewed the efforts of the villagers and they started
catching monkeys again.

Soon the supply diminished even further and people started going back to
their farms. The offer rate increased to Rs25 and the supply of monkeys
became so little that it was an effort to even see a monkey, let alone
catch it!

The man now announced that he would buy monkeys at Rs50! However, since he
had to go to the city on some business, his assistant would now buy on
behalf of him.

In the absence of the man, the assistant told the villagers. Look at all
these monkeys in the big cage that the man has collected. I will sell them
to you at Rs35 and when the man returns from the city, you can sell it to
him for Rs50."

The villagers squeezed up with all their savings and bought all the
monkeys.

Then they never saw the man nor his assistant, only monkeys everywhere!! !

Welcome to the "Stock" Market!!!!!

mr. vivek, mundra cannot get oversubscribed more than 15 times in retail segment means Rs1 lac application will get one lot each (15 shares).
Now, how? please note that powergrid has lot of 125 shares and mundra has 15 shares per lot. so it is already 8 times less.
if we follow same powergrid response then you will say mundra should get oversubscribed by 115 times but my dear do divide by 8 becoz of lot difference. then u will find that this issue cannot get oversubscribed by 15 times in any case

I think if we are not alloted in this ipo we may not apply reliance power ipo using mundra refund money, what do you say?
207. power |   Link |  Bookmark | November 3, 2007 6:45:59 PM
right jain sahab mundra port will subscribe more then 50 times allotment chances are very low . it is better that dont put your money in mundra go for rel power coming on 27november sources................

Power grid had offered 19 crore 96lacs shares to the retail investors and the issue was over subscribed nearly 7 times. Now mundra port is offering aprox 1 crore 20lac share to retail, now tell me- cant this issue get over subscribed more than 50 times? really amazing how people are expecting that this issue will be done 16-20 times.!!!

I aggree with you IPO KING it will not be subscribed more than 16 times in Retail Category if we see the history for the past 3-4 years.

In any case if this big issue is subscribed 50 times tnan i would say money making in IPO's will get stoped and we have to look for alternate sources as most of the new issues are between 100 crores and 300 crores and they will be subscribed like religare or more than that.

HAPPY INVESTING

197. Bk |   Link |  Bookmark | November 3, 2007 2:12:49 PM
Dont hope to get more than 20% premium on listing date(with assumption of 19500 - 20000 sensex). Further, this stock will depriciate heavily if sensex falls after its listing.
