Suppose this IPO is subscribed 300 times in HNI quota and applied for 460 shares (15 lots) in HNI category. Is there surety that I will be allotted some shares. Also if I say HNI is subscribed 300 times then it is 300x of shares of 300x of available lots?
You will get 460/300=1.53, i.e., 1 or 2 shares maybe. 300x times of share or 300x times of availables lots, both are same, because a lot for a particular issue have a fixed number of shares and it cant vary. Thus, for example, if HNI is subscribed 120 times, then it means it has been subscribed 120x of shares and 120x of available lots in HNI, both.

Here is an extract from Equity matter view on MAS Financial Services IPO. However, Im going to apply in retail as allotment itself would be 1 out of 10.
At the upper end of the IPO price band of Rs 456 - 459, the price to adjusted book value works out to 4.26 times. As compared to established banks, the valuations are on the higher side.
Moreover, the pre-ipo allotment in March 2017 took place at a much lower valuation. Motilal Oswal Financial Services Ltd had been allotted 3,990,422 equity shares at the price of Rs 338 in the pre-ipo allotment in March 2017. The valuations at the upper price band of the offer is 36% higher as compared to the shares offered in the pre-ipo allotment.
The issue has been priced at book value multiples that are not in our comfort zone. Therefore, we recommend subscribers to consider AVOIDING the IPO.
Before considering acting on any recommendation, we suggest that you consult with your investment advisor with regard to your individual situation.
I''ve been applying to many IPO''s since last 3 months and haven''t got any allotment in any of the IPO''s. Will applying to more than 1 lot increase my chance for allotment? or is it advisable to apply for only 1 lot when IPO is oversubscribed?
did you apply for icici lombard & sbi life? now apply for GIC. you will be allotted enough shares.
