For instance you can trade 4x
So you can trade with 4000 rs

Margin funding gives leverage as explained by @Jain Sahab

But use it prudently, because if your trade goes on other side the losses will be also multiple times.

If you are small investor (as mentioned) use this margin funding to buy share when you have buying opportunity while have money in bank but not yet transferred to account. Then use margin funding and make-up cash before the deadline (as per your broker). Because not compensating margin will fetch penalty.

The closer analogy is credit card, but here period is shorter.

Use wisely and enjoy, use without discipline or knowing rules of settlement -end up in paying interest, square-offs and penalties.

The traders (mostly intraday) use margin funding to increase trade volumes, as anyhow they square-up position at end of day.
