So i''ve taken a risky bet according to my strategy to maximize my return.

Looks like my estimation was correct and the risk might just pay off.

762 lots applied.....so far so getting something.
Invested same amount in Tega, & my earning today with tega listing is roughly 10K. So I really questioning myself, is this much mind thrill & risk worry is justified or not.

Skipped HNI due to limited funds availability for 187 lots. Waited until 3pm so that I can come under >50%(subscription) but didn''t. No choice but gone with all 7 retails.
All the best to who have made HNI bids, though no competition but still 1 less in lottery ;) :)

Regarding Medplus, i am not able to digest Medplus GMP.
Medplus PAT went shooted only during covid time. May be because high margin in Sanitizer and mask business + more medicine sold.

Still market is supreme and IPO run is going crazy. :)
Will decide on last day based on subscription.

@NKJ: ya medplus was not sureshot thing like mapmyindia as i informed to snipperraj also in hni thread but still 25% gmp is good enough, till last day you can see and decide, better to apply i think in HNI there even if gmp is 20% since no other good ipo (data pattern again no point to apply with 130 lots). And regarding medplus business etc, why to hold, we can simply sell after listing.

@Gazimo: yes you have approx 90% chances. And you will mostly be allotted 1 lot, don''t worry.

@Samjos You are right to question. Even I''ve thought about this from time to time. You will earn more in the secondary mkt than in the primary market. These HNI funds should be used only from spare funds. Look at it this way. If you have a FD that fetches u say 6.5 percent today.... Now u keep these funds in savings for IPOs... And you can get 3.5 % per annum minimum. So the balance 3 percent is what needs to be covered. For 1 crore, that''s 3 lakhs per annum extra that u need to make. An IPO like Nykaa will give u 75k approx.... Tega would give u 15k... So with the glut of IPOs, now it might be possible to make that kind of money.... Is it worth it if u have an alternate better yielding and safe opportunity? No. I look at it this way.... I can use these funds to pick up good opportunities from the secondary market too

@MK: ya since retail subscription is around 11-12X only application wise (many UPI applications also creates issues and doesn''t go through) and HNI going too high so i tried in retail only, no point in trying luck with so much of money and then having chances of getting nothing too, some of money was blocked in rategain too. I will apply in data patterns in HNI since there retail chances will be too tough or in medplus etc. will see as per subscriptions around 2.45pm on last day.

To add to your detailed answer, one more advantage is that - if I earn that extra 3 lakhs in FD interest, I have to pay 34% tax, while if I earn 3 lakhs via IPO, I had to pay only 10-15% depending on short/long term capital gain.

And if you keep this amount in small banks like AU or Equitas, it gives 7% interest in savings account (6% upto 10 lakhs, 6.5% for 10-25 lacs, & 7% for above 25 lakhs). But that depends on mindset whether to go for small banks.

@samjos Yes, forgot to mention the tax benefit of STCG... Also might get some gems that become part of your LT PF.

I mentioned 3.5% minimum tor SB interest. For huge amount of HNI funds, I wouldn''t be comfortable with the banks that u mentioned.

@Nithin: yes don''t worry, mostly you should be allotted 1 lot, but it was better instead of 380 you should have chosen 382 or 379 etc , still just wish there are max 4-5 applicants with 380 lots applications then all 5 will be allotted (considering 420X final). If 6 applicants then 5 will be allotted 1 lot.

Why is this company so over-subscribed where the Net Asset Value of the share is just Rs. 76.28/-(ref. Pg. 21 RHP). Promoters of such company are selling their stakes at Rs.1033/-. NO Proceeds of this IPO is been used by the company. So Promoters Net Worth got increased by 13.54 times. Subscribers of IPO please share your reasons for subscription.[OTHER THAN GMP]

applied 269 lots but didnt get allotment

Applied for 687 lots through ICICI Bank ASBA and got allotment of 23 shares. Allotted amount debited in my ICICI Bank A/c. Balance amount unblocked.

This time I have got allotment of 1 lot in Retail category also (i.e. 1 out of 2 applications) in addition to proportionate allotment in HNI category.

Some lessons to all, even though i know you know it.
I am tiny HNI with only 60-70 lots(only 1 account). I knew in this subscription will 500x so no point for me to apply as HNI in this and use the funds for lower subscribed IPO like Rategain and Medplus.
And applied as Retail(1lot) and got 1lot. After long time got allotted in retail in highly subscribed IPO.
Lesson is even if you dont able to apply as HNI, apply as retail. And don''t what is connection of LinkinTime with me. Others curse linkintime and call it fraud. But whenever I got allotment in retail lottery, it is with linkintime only.
And interestingly I see many retail post that they got allotted. I mean relatively more posts on allotted as against general sadness/crying of no allotment. Is subscription in retail was really 15x?? Suspicious!!

Unfortunately got no allotment against my 233 lot application. I''ll have to check BOA as to what went wrong with my strategy.
Got 1 lot in retail only out of 10 which is really low. Turned out to be a disaster for me.

0/110 lots in NII. Even though applied in round figure for <50%, luck didn''t favor.

@MOG possibly 233 was used by someone else too and he might have got allotment. At 233 chances were 50% 1/2 or 2/4... your consolation is the retail allotment.

I already wrote earlier this this odd lot theory has become so popular that most people are searching for odd lot numbers. In current scenario with huge subscription, no number is odd anymore... I In fact feel considering the theory popularity and huge oversubscription, numbers like 213, 227, 233 are not odd anymore, and 220, 230 240 will become odd (uncommon) numbers.

@avenue There is another theory also which proves the current odd lot theory wrong. It can also be that lots belonging to the same range are combined in BOA for allotment so it depends on luck. Obviously my probability was 54% which is borderline and someone else might have been allotted. Had my probability been >60% i would have had more chances.

Finally Linkintime updates the status on its site.

0/2 in retail. Guess all my retails allotments will be only for discount listing ones.....Rategain latest.

@mvmsr: chances were 1 out of 4 anyways for you so bad luck this time.
@avenue: yes you are right :) people took this so seriously but it all depends on co applicant (luckily or unluckily anyone can have it at any number unknowingly, more chances upto 200 lots less chances after 200 lots but it can happen) and if there is even one more applicant other than you then he may win over you until you are in 50 to 75% , if above 75% and 2 applicants then both will get, so simply more nearer to subscription more chances even if more no of applicants, else you need more luck as far you are from final subscription.
@Mog: In BOA, normally they dont mention till this much category so you may not find it probably. And this line of yours is wrong assumption, it never happens, each lot size is taken as single category and there is no combining of lots in range is happening in any ipo :-> "It can also be that lots belonging to the same range are combined in BOA for allotment so it depends on luck."

Finally i got allotted 1 lot in mapmyindia in my own account in RETAIL first time in my life in any good ipo where gmp is more than 20-30% feeling happy :) My wife/family members used to be allotted in retail in good ipos with good gains but i have never been allotted in retail in any of so many good ipos in last 5-6 years.

Yes BOA usually don''t show the lot sizes in the middle. Looks like i got competition 😥
Next time i''ll try to target atleast 75% probability to be on the safer side
