i think patience is highly necessary in investors, whether retail or promoter. lic is giving me pension Rs 5000 per month for last 5 years & those of my age who invested in time are getting Rs 15000 per month. therefore i would say lic is a very honest & dependable company (since i am going to get pension for life). very unlikely that listing discount will reflect on (later) market price. it will do well like rainbow medicare & ruchi soya. i am expecting it to do as well as hdfclife, sbilife & other international life insurance businesses. patriotism & patriotic fever are real, not imaginary phenomena. panic selling & people rushing to buy government securities is going to continue, but in the long run that momentum will not sustain. nifty & sensex will recover even if it takes a year to do so…

Important question is that whether LIC can buy its own shares? Like, it supports all FPO's & OFS's

LIC has a lot of Unit Linked Plans (ULiP). Why can't the fund manager Buy it as part of the ULIP? This should not be considered as LIC is buying back its shares?

Any Thoughts on this?

earlier in one IPO, if I recall correctly (most probably) ICICI Pru Life insurance IPO, ICICI Mutual fund has allotted shares in IPO. They were reprimanded by authorities for doing this as they can not bid for sister insurance company.

So I am doubtful that fund managers of LIC ULIP policies can purchase their own company shares.

Dont wry about market fall....it will list in premium only even if nifty goes 15000 ....its because whole govt os behind this....and on top of tht lic is most reliable company of India....its profitability is as certain as death of a person is certain....so dont sell anything even if nuclear ear happens....

Distinguished members thinking that policy holders have right in the property of LIC , may kindly refer to recent Supreme Court clarification rejecting a plea of some persons claiming on the line for withdrawal of this IPO.
As far as my knowledge, the highest court , clarified that standing of a LIC PH is like that of an account holder of a Bank who has a charge on the company to the extend he is eligible for and he has no right in the property or profit of the company.
So had this contention gained ground there was no chance of this IPO.
Again as per my knowledge, the charge of the policy holder is established by law which is observed by the company by crediting the requisite amount to ' Life Fund' a fund specifically meant for the purpose.

Thank you for your confirmation. what is written in the article put by you is not altogether correct.
What I have written is not as to todays order. I found post of Ganesh ji after my post. So this is about a previous futile attempt of the antagonistics who come in the last moment to disturb the proceedings as they know that there legal stand is weak.

Yes you are right that a policy holder does not hold a specific interest in specific property but every year valuation is done for all investments and surplus is distributed as bonus.

Insurance act allows investment of policy holders in property. Entire investment in property by LIC has been on account of policy holders. LIC corporate (whose shares are being listed does not own these properties). If these properties are to bought by LIC (corporate) transfer would have to happen at market prices which will benefit policy holders

देश के सबसे बड़े LIC के IPO की लिस्टिंग डिस्काउंट में हो सकती है। ग्रे मार्केट प्रीमियम में इसके संकेत मिल रहे हैं। ग्रे मार्केट में LIC अपने इश्यू प्राइस 949 रुपए प्रति शेयर से 20 रुपए डिस्काउंट पर है। यानी रिटेल निवेशकों को IPO में मिले डिस्काउंट रेट से ये केवल 25 रुपए ज्यादा है। ग्रे मार्केट में LIC का प्रीमियम मंगलवार को गिरकर 10 रुपए पर आ गया और बुधवार को निगेटिव हो गया। अगर ये और नीचे आता है तो निवेशकों को नुकसान हो सकता है।

You should leave the india to any safest country of the world. as there is so much risk in the country. You can even die on road accident as so many people dont follows traffic rules. my country is full of risk not suitable to you. better you should leave instead of increasing fear of other retail investors by posting useless comment .

Case filed in Supreme court against LIC IPO with the plea to stop the allotment and for blocking the bank account applied by the investor. today SC is hearing the case. Discussion going on the right of Policy holders and shareholders of LIC. Lets see the outcome.

It is imp to note percentage dilution of LIC has been 3.25 percent, 22.13 crore equity shares of value of 10 each is offered at Rs 939 and consolidated fund will receive 22.5 k crores. IPO opened for anchor investors on MAY 2 and others on may 4 and closed on may 9.

NO stay on LIC IPO allotment. Allotment today as scheduled.

Property portfolio belongs to policy holders not to shareholders of LIC. So any gains realization on this account 90 or 95 percent will be distributed to policy holders
Given current market i won't be surprised if LIC share opens at discount or ends at discount (as retail or policy holder will take their cost after discount and may book profit)

NASDAQ in Particular, is falling 3% almost everyday in last few days and We are yet to see a -2% day on NIFTY!!!
Mr- Fundamental answered it many times before - The abundance of DUMP Money and lack of Investor Awareness in Indian market. Retai Traders, SIP, Mutual Funds all are being allowed to buy and Average Losing at 16000-18000. There are deep Buyers everywhere.

The game is big and long in Indian market. Days will come soon when Global🌎 Market rebound and we keep falling.

You will start hearing Retail Traders Screaming😱 "Market is Manipulated " "Operators took my Money💰" "Stock market is Casino🎰 " "Government Looted me" "Modi ka Kaam hai " "Adani Ambani Sab Mile hue hain" "Brokers Fooled me" ect, ect, They will blame Everything except their own greed of making Quick and "Easy Money"- That will be the time to Start Buying!!!

Whatever the gmp, doesn't matter for LIC, because Modiji and Nirmalaji will take care of it. Market would be made calm by tuesday and Govt would make sure their first disinvestment is bumber hit.

It's a day dream to think our current ministry will help in Profits for retail investors, they only know how to add Taxes
