I think Tarson should have planned from 16th Nov to 18th Nov. Then we would have not so much confusion and thinking. We would have gone with our funds to LVA and wait for money to be released on 17th Nov and apply in Tarson......

@noorul Man these funded HNIs are holding the self-funded HNIs at gunpoint. They are just trampling over genuine HNIs with the exorbitant funding they get. This seriously riles me up. I wish Sebi would would prepone the HNI funding restriction.

@M.K : whatever we have we can apply that much only, means for self funded HNI and that wont make much difference in that 1 lakh crore figure, that actually comes from funded HNI only and there its almost 1 lakh crore, i have noted many times that in last 6 months for all big good ipos coming together and prepared even some notes also on that ;)
either its pair of GR infra/clean science and zomato/tatva and nykaa/PB/sigachi and will see now also so that amount really matters, will see going forward as i said.

Lots of funded HNI''s stand to lose money on this one as with 820x application at 3:19 pm all that one can do is either bump up the application size but can''t withdraw. The share allocation to them will not match up to their interest outgo...they will scramble to sell during opening hours to cover...but QIB demand and general price momentum should keep it going strong! What is otherwise an excellent IPO will prove to be a disaster for lots of funded folks. Always to be kept in mind!

Also, by the way, the 1 lakh crore HNI funding threshold continues to hold even in this bunching of IPOs!

after poor subscription in sapphire/paytm, i was thinking latent will go upto 450-500 max but it has beaten our expectation by huge margin.
At least in sapphire, i was keep saying one day before closing that it wont cross 10X-20X or will go even less. Even sigachi/nykaa were as per expectations but this latents, hats off to funded HNI''s.
Now i am planning different strategy to earn in this in short term, which i said in nykaa too.

Same day allotment/refund/credit ka jaadu abhi tak bas zomato kar paya hai :) in morning itself , allotment happened for that and by afternoon refund/unblock happened and by evening/night, shares came in cdsl and next day listing. 2 days listing prepone, first time i have seen.
@M.K: ya i will try to find older message to post in weekend or will explain again my logic then we can discuss on that, many might be remembering that discussion, i think avenue asked that question that time.
And yes remember of your earlier 900X prediction, all funded HNI dumped paytm and sapphire and used all money in latent.
@Mog: yes in tarson now it can go upto 100 to150 max as per that 1 lakh cr theory, remaining lets see, anything can happen now after today''s surprise :) but doesnt look like funded HNI will go with much force in tarson after this tsunami in latent.

@Lokes, iMO and hoping that Tarson HNI won''t cross 150X. With that, atleast we will get confirmed 2 lots for 300 lots and 10K profit.

Also, Sigachi HNi was around 172X and surprised everyone with low subscriptions as Nykaa has absorbed everything by that time with 112X.

I''m hoping something with Tarson as LVA has already absorbed all money.

@Lokes @M.K. I tried to find how the computerised lottery for NII works but did not find anything. If lots bid are lesser than oversubscription multiple, does it affect lottery chances how many lots you apply for? in other words, is lottery selected from the applicant pool or lot pool?
If I see a way higher subscription, would it be better to just apply for 2 Lakh worth of lot rather than a high lot number?
If you have any references to verify this online, please share.

Round Number Application in HNI Category

This is my guess and common sense only and I am not experts

If I apply for a very uncommon figure’s number of lots, I may end up being the ONLY applicant for that particular number of lots. And if applied no. of lots is less than half of total subscription, I will not get any allotment.
Let’s take one example, I apply for 483 lots in a 1000x HNI subscribed IPO, Probability will be 483/1000 =0.483. This number is rounded and hence will become zero if I am the ONLY applicant. Yes if there are two applicant, 0.483 x 2 = 0.966 round to 1, so out of two applicant, one will get 1 lot.

However If I am applying for 699 lots and am the ONLY applicant, probability is 699/1000=0.699 round to 1 so will get one lot.

If one is applying for more than 50% HNI subscription figure lots, uncommon figure can help you get a confirmed allotment???
I applied for 500 lots and probability 500/850 = 0.59 so if 100 people applied for 500 lots, 59 will get one lot.
BUT if I had applied for 509 lots and suppose was the ONLY applicant for 509 lots, will I get 1 lot confirmed?

Now, as per what I''m seeing, if I''m over 50% of the subscription quota, I would prefer to be an odd lot applicant. This is just a sample subset. BTW, I had applied for 416 lots in Paras and didn''t get allotment as I was below the 50% threshold for the odd lot.

@Avenue - I may be able to give answer to your query as I had exactly applied for 699 lots, & another account 355 lots :).

If I had combined them ( I could not combined as when it crossed 700x, I was not sure doing RTGS will actually be effective to give 1054 lots amount ready by 2.55PM - though I had predicted it would be 900x depending on HNI fund released from Nykaa, Post No. 135), it would have been 1 confirmed. But now it is either 0 / 1 / 2 chances :(

It''s pure on luck that you are the only person who has applied for a perticular lots.
In sigachi allotment either even or odd lots, if only 1 application for that lots then confirm allotment else lottery, but this is applicable only when allotment ratio is in multiple of 2:1 for that lots.

@Niteenipo... I have not gone through the link provided by you but humbly suggest that my assumptions are based on various BoA. Kindly go through the following details and reply if you still think that the only applicant of 483 lots in 1000x subscribed IPO will surely get one lot.

Devyani HNI subscription 213x times
In Devyani IPO there was only one applicant for 93 lots (15345 shares) and no shares were allotted to him.

Sigachi HNI subscription 172x time, 50% is 86
In Sigachi IPO there was only one applicant for 76 lots (6840 shares) and no shares were allotted to him.
In Sigachi IPO there was only one applicant for 93 lots (8370 shares) and 1 lot was allotted to him.
In Sigachi IPO there was only one applicant for 132 lots (11880 shares) and 1 lot was allotted to him.

This issue is critical for us, all self funded HNI applicants, hence perusing this in detail. Thanks

OK guys, let me explain you this with some exmaples. sorry for long post. since its weekend, you may read it once :) first i hope everyone is aware about things mentioned here: https://www.chittorgarh.com/article/hni-ipo-application-guide-nii-allotment-benefits/532/
Whatever @avenue mentioned above is correct, in our older ipo discussion i explained him regarding this round off lots applying etc.
@avenue: As per your question in last line, if you are single applicant and coming in above 50% category then yes 1 lot will be confirmed.

And other than that, it depends on other factor/luck also and that "factor" is how many other applicants applied those same number of lots with you and "luck" is you will never be knowing this factor :) Taking same example of 384/380 lots in latent ipo (HNI 881X), both 380/384 are having approx 43% chances, suppose there is only 1 applicant in both 380/384 lots appl. then no one will get allotment, if 2 applicant in both, then 1 out of 2 will get, same way 3->1 , 4->2 , Now why i said that 380 may have more chances than 384 is just based on the thinking that 384 might be single applicant so his chance will change to 0% from 43% and 380 lot might not be single applicant being more people usually applying in round figure lots from all india so he will have some chance at least in lottery as explained above based on no of applicants. But again it all depends on above explained luck/factor, means reverse can also happen here if 380 is the only 1 applicant and 384 are 2 or more applicant.

And one more thing, as i have gone through so many BOA documents in past where NII was above 150X approx in past, so what i have seen is mostly are giving examples upto 15/20 lots etc then directly from more lots than HNI subsc, middle examples above 100lots till 400 etc are not there in most BOA where subscription is above 200X, mainly paras would be helpful if that would have given some examples. But i got two examples from devyani and sigachi where subscription is more than or around 200X and many intermediate examples are given.

Devyani example : HNI 210 times subscription.
50 lots -> 157 application (chance-24%) -> 37 application got allotment
93 lots -> 1 application (chance - 44%) ->       0 application got allotment
100 lots -> 177 application (chance-47%) -> 84 application got allotment
200 lots -> 75 application (chance - 95%) -> 71 application got allotment
Now here you can see that the applicant who applied 93 lots had his 44% chance converted to 0 since he was only single applicant with that lot size so applying with 100 lots was much better here means when you are below 50% category.

Copy Pasting sigachi example also from avenue post: HNI subscription 172x time, 50% is 86.
Single applicant for 76 lots (6840 shares) and no shares were allotted to him.
Single applicant for 93 lots (8370 shares) and 1 lot was allotted to him.
Single applicant for 132 lots (11880 shares) and 1 lot was allotted to him.

In the end, taking one more example of @samjos with 699 lot application in latent ipo, means 79% chances are there technically, now if he is single applicant
he will definitely be allotted single lot, but if 2 applicants are there with 699 lots application, then both will get 1 lot each, if 3 applicants then
only 2 will get 1 lot each, if 5 applicants then 4 will get, 6 -> 5 , 7 -> 6 , 8 -> 6 , 10 -> 8 and so on.
Now hope everyone is clear, so if you are in above 50% category: then your chances are always there and if single applicant also then 100% chances of 1 lot so corner lots numbers are good to choose to apply, and if you are in below 50% category: then better to choose round off lots but again depends on luck/factor as explained above with 380/384 case :)
[below 50% or above 50% category, that also you cant be sure while applying, for example in latent, 380 was being considered above 50% category but later it came into below 50% category :)]

you need to lucky enough to be single applicant when above 50% and you need to unlucky enough to be single applicant when in below 50%.
But In latent, range was big till 881 lots so its possible anyways. We can just use these explanations in future but all these depends on co-applicant which we will never be knowing unless we only mention here and apply same :)
And you are above 50% anyways with 480 too so in sharing also you will be having good chances like: 2 from 3 , 2 from 4 , 3 from 5 but ya being single would have escaped you from lottery :)

@ mk.. and others.. what i got to learn.. if i had knew it before than niteen n me.. would hve applied same quantity of lots.. so either one of us would hve got the big fish.. well no issue.. we will keep this process in our hard disk of our mind so while applying in future scripts it will give us edge in allotments process..

And everyone remember, allotment will move to before number if less than 0.5 and above number if above 0.5 as per chances means :
380 lots: 43.5% chance: if 3 applicant then 1.3 (3*43.5%) will get 1 lot so here 1 will get so actual chance decreased to 33.3% in case of 3 applicant.
350 lots: 39.7% chance: if 4 applicant then 1.58 (4 * 39.7%) will get 1 lot so here 2 will get allotment so actual chance increased to 50%
And same applicable in case of single applicant too.
And in cases of paras, latent and especially sigachi, applying with HNI minimum lot (14/15 etc) is always much beneficial than retail application since there
are thousands applicant in that minimum category so its a real good chance. No. of Applicants decreases as per lot size but normally round off figures are having more applicants like 50 100 150 200 etc.
I am done now explaining everything on this topic :) Hope it will be useful info to everyone whatever i explained in last 2-3 posts in this thread.

@avenue: ya that''s why i mentioned as below in sigachi forum to you to use round off lots when coming in less than of 50% and i mentioned same thing to someone else also but here in latent it was not sure at all how much it will go on upper side so for safety i said you to use round off lots here, sorry bro :) And any number we will pick we can never be sure that we will be alone or not, either its 500 or 509. The basis of allotment for HNIs shown many times does not cover ALL the lot category (EVERY) subscription. Is there anyway we can see the FULL list I mean for every lot category form 14 to the highest applied. That would help in confirming the HNI allotment logic.

For calculation of tax on Short Term Capital Gain @15%, would it be 15% of 50 or 15% of 20(my actual gain).

As per my understanding, when you take funding to apply in an IPO, it becomes a BUSINESS transaction. You can write off all the interest paid to the NBFC and the profit from the transaction will be added to your income and taxed at the applicable tax slab.

There is an alternate school of thought which says tax at STCG and forego claiming the interest paid if it helps in your tax slab.

Needless to say, you have to apply any one strategy throughout.

Please consult a qualified C.A. for the most accurate view as per the taxman.

I think the logic in applying in whole numbers to have better chance is flawed. I am a new trader but I can explain the probability part. The probability to get a stock is the chance to get it.
Think about coin toss(head/tail). If both the head or tail are possible equally.
P(head) = 0.5
Now to verify it you will toss it how many times?
toss 1 times -> (H or T) so P(head) = (0 P(heads) = (0 P(heads) = (p close to 0.5)
As you toss it more number of times you are more likely to get true probability when you analyze the experiment. This does not mean that your each toss has a different probability.
It means to analyze an event(coming of head) to get the actual probability after the event happened, you need a big enough sample size(number of tosses). Your examples suffers from the same issue.

I think some part got wrongly formatted.
The coin toss example with equal chance.
If you toss once you get Head or tail. so if you look at result you think the coin is 100% head or 0% head.
If you toss it 100 times, you will see it close to 50%head.
To get a good estimation on coin being equal chance, you need lot of samples i.e. coin tosses in this case.

I have gone through many available BOA and only in few, middle entries were present and i checked many entries for this 0.5 logic , either its 14 lots application or any higher lot application, i saw that above 0.5 is rounded off to next number and below 0.5 is rounded off to below number. Same applicable to single applicant and any no. applicant. There are hundreds of BOA available and each having many examples, you can pick any to verify this. Like taking last 4 examples in nykaa (110.16X in HNI) :
49 lots (44.48% chance) -> 4 applicants -> 1.77 so 2 applicant gots 1 lot each
50 lots (45.38%) -> 229 applicant -> 103.9 so 104 got
51 lots (46.29%) -> 37 applicant -> 17.12 so 17 got
52 lots (47.20%) -> 35 applicant -> 16.52 so 17 got

@lokesh After your detailed analysis, i went ahead and analyzed a few BOAs like Sigachi, nykaa etc and i''ve found the points that you had put out were bang on. This is going to be a game changer for self-funded HNIs as they can strategize their bid application in case of heavy oversubscription like Latent.
If i had known about this in detail before, i would have applied for latent as there was high chances of allotment.

As i checked, in Happiest mind, its almost same logic, as explained, only thing is in case of single applicant, till 0.52 they have not given and from 0.53 its given to all single applicant, anyways its near to 0.5 only. Remaining for multiple applicant case, 0.5 logic is still working. And as per recent devyani/sigachi examples too , 0.5 logic is working in case of multiple applicants and for single applicant too, its almost same. @share tiger: it depends on how much funds you are having with you, as per that only you need to apply.

then u need to apply all funds from one account for having better chances of 1 lot allotment....put 70 lots which is equal to 10.14 lakh.

btw sigachi broke record of paras and as of now holding highest listing gain record.
