We did have few 20% upside IPO IN LAST FEW MONTHS . Greed and liquidity is another reason. I heard demand for hdfc in anchor book is 25 times the limit offer is around 2000 cr demand is 50000.
Big fish can afford to pay a bit more because they hold long term .. they hold at least 1 to 3 % stake and mainly it will cost them a lot lot more to buy a stock in the markets .. Thus when the return is in single digits ... mkts are a bit frothy then is it worth the risk for the small person to enter because the larger hni and corporates are a lot nimbler and more imp have a lot of mkt and insider info,, investing depends on case to case basis in the end

-------------------------------- 10 things to know before investing ---------------------------
It is said "when a big deal on front page, in most of the cases it is late. " After Avenue, cdsl, au, capacite IPO became talk of town and so many new accounts were open and ppl apply most of the ipos blindly. So now companies are coming up with high offer price to take benefit of our greed and nothing is left on table for us. So we have to be selective. Remember fool and his money is big party to others. Please consider opinion of septa, gamble and other experts of this forum before applying any ipo blindly.

These days i do not get time to read the RHP in full given my work. I was going through the balance sheet sometime worried me is 75% is contract job and 25% manufacture... with GST it benefit more the manufacture then trader.
Also concentration of market and low price product mix will be advantage as they can more to new markets both geographically and socially (high end middle end low end)
with regards to applying i feeling it will be weak listing close to issue price or even discount however i am going to take a risk and apply.
Now a days promoters valuating the ipo stock in expensive mode .be careful while investing this kind of stocks.compared to other brands this stock valuation is high.If subscription is very less then the promoters came to know the reasonble price which they need to display in next time.

Short Term Capital Gain (STCG) is applicable on shares sold worth 10K.
In your example, you bought 100 shares @100/- acquisition cost is 10K. It appreciated by 12.5% and thus market price is 125/-. You are selling 80 shares @125/- worth 10K. 20 shares shall remain in your holding worth 2,500/-.
You are liable of STCG on 2,000/- (10,000/- Sell value minus 8,000/- purchase value).

you need to pay short term tax for which you max profit in less than 1 year. In this case, you have make Rs. 2000 profit.
So 15% is is short term tax. so final tax payment is Rs. 300.

If your total income including profit on shares is below taxable limit, you need not to pay any taxes.
But if your total income including profit on shares is taxable, then you have to pay STCG on profit on shares. you can also deduct brokerages & charges while calculating profit on shares. eg. --------- No. of shares ------- Price ---------- Total --------- Brokerages & charges -------- Total Buy --------- 100 -------------- 100 ----------- 10,000 ------------- 64.50 ---------------------- 10,064.50 Sell ----------- 80 -------------- 125 ----------- 10,000 ------------- 64.50 ------------------------ 9935.50
As you sell only 80 shares, profit consider only on 80 shares Buy ----------- 80 -------------- 100 ----------- 8,000 ------------- 54.80 ---------------------- 8,054.80
Profit ---------- 9,935.50 - 8054.80 = 1880.70
If you have paid STT (Security Transaction Tax) on shares while selling, STCG tax rate is 15% STCG = 282.11 ----------- (15% on 1880.70)
If you have not paid STT on shares while selling, tax rate is as per your income slab. STCG = 188.07 ----------- (if your income slab is 10%) STCG = 376.14 ----------- (if your income slab is 20%) STCG = 564.21 ----------- (if your income slab is 30%)
Does anyone know when any of the 4 IPOs (Hindustan Aeronautics, Future Supply Chain Solutions, Gandhar Oil Refinery, Aster DM Healthcare) are coming ? I need to decide investment amount for HDFC Life based on these. Thanks for your help!
Bit expensive Mizra liberty have better ratio also management sounded very unimpressive on media but for me most important ratio in consumer goods is price to sale which is around 2.2 with bata at 4 so it risky bet but with GST i seeing big rerating in this organised sector.

a sme ipo of ANI INTEGRATED SERVICES LIMITED is opening on 08 Nov. As for me it is one of the finest Ipo of recent times. Very good investment opportunity for short /medium /long term. Note - It''s a SME IPO. better understand the terms & conditions of SME investment. Also own research and satisfaction required before applying.
