First of all, there is a separate page for this buyback.

The value of shares in your all demats on record date should not cross 2 lakhs, if you want to be in retail category.

The price of share on an exchange with relatively high volume is taken into account for calculation on record date.

So 2 lakhs devided by price on record date, approximately..equals to no of shares you should buy.

Assuming price on record date 7300 it should be 27 or so.. (2 lakhs/7300)..

​@Chemeleon It depends upon from where you are looking at the difference. 6984 is around 30% down from 10000, on the other hand 10000 is 43% more from 6984.

​@Tejas Pandya , 1 share guaranteed acceptance thoda doubtful ho sakta hai as the gap is very big (3k per share) and many new one share players in the BB market.

Did you apply in TCS and LT buyback ?
If yes, full 2 lakh or 1 share application?

​@Tejas Pandya @GrayIsTheNewBlack I've not participated in a buyback before, but just by reading a bit today, I was thinking of the following.

Per account, buy 20 shares at market price (let's say INR 7500) at pre-open tomorrow - this will safely be under 2L on record date and qualify for retail since share price cannot exceed 10k (in which case, I've anyway made enough money).

Allotment Ratio in retail in L&T was ~100% and TCS was ~35%. Assuming 30-35% here (is this a reasonable guess?), and purchasing 1.5L worth of shares, we can make around 15-16k in profit assuming we sell remaining shares at the purchase price itself per account.

Does this make sense? Am I missing anything?

Bajaj Board has approves Rs, 4,000 crore share buy back at Rs.10 000 a piece. The buy back is subject to the approval of the shareholders by means of a special resolution through a postal ballot. The record date and and other details will be announced later.

This is Bajaj Auto's second share buy back. In July 2022, purchased shares worth Rs 2,500 crore from holders at Rs.4,600 per share. This buy back is far bigger than earlier in all respect. Tomorrow's opening with a big gap up is expected.

It depends.
You can make an educated guess, by looking at the current shareholding pattern of retailers.
And guess the ER and AR ratio.
And you'll have to factor in, that the price "might" fall after the shares are being buyback.
"Generally", if price is too far away from buyback price till the record date, the AR and ER will reduce.
And if it's too close, people have very less incentive to tender shares, instead they'll sell it in market as you said.
Acceptance ratio (AR) was 35% for tcs in 2023, but for 2021 it was 24%

​@rohiitian , I'm sure AR will be much much lower than 30-35%.
My personal guess is it could be max around 15% (with single share players spoiling the party).
15% also is a very optimistic guess with all the fancy built around this buyback, won't be surprised if the final AR is in single digit.

Best way to learn is to execute and see results with your money on the line, rather than watch from sidelines.
