Tax evasion news was out on 28.12.2023 itself.

No need to enter unless the matter settles or the stock reaches a strong support.

I had Polycab since IPO and bought some more earlier. My avg price was ~1300 and was enjoying 4x profits (5200+). I sold all of it today at ~3900 and I am happy.
I generally buy for long term and doesn't panic sell in such situations. Infact I am kind of contra investor. I generally buy when there blood bath. But in this particular case I sold it. Major reason is I was huge profit of 200%. And my experience say such corporate governance might take some time to resolve even if they are rumors. Authorities will file cases, Polycab will challenge it, court hearing might keep adjourning etc etc.
It might take some time for dust to settle and till that time stock will either fall or may be remain range bound. So its better to take out money and invest into other stock for time being.
Once things get clear and stock shows signs of uptrend, we can start accumulating. And if falls to much below levels like more 30-40% from here(highly unlikely), then also we can start accumulating

The company does look ok, it's just that the current valuation seems too scary for a small retail investor like me. Especially seeing how a few recent 'Good IPOs' with 'Good valuations' are currently trading below issue price.

So its PE + sentiments = avoid to stay safe for me.

​@Mogambo ka Bhateeja, what about BHEL? Have seen its PE and have an opinion? Please don't take it otherwise I am puzzled by such high PE. Seems that is the inspiration for JYOTI setting such high price.

​@abc xyz Sir, Certainly India story is at very high level and enough reasons to believe upon. Similarly greediness of managements of a few companies bringing IPO is also at very high level.

Cb ji, I don't think BHEL and Jyoti CNC is at all comparable.

​CB sir, I am not qualified enough in stocks to answer your question satisfactorily. Plus I'm not following it so don't have any updated information about it.

My personal understanding is that the scope of BHEL's business is very vast and diverse, and includes opportunities to give stupendously high returns in a short period (think energy, aerospace and defence). The kind of stuff I see BHEL involved in is usually very high margin business (finished products, critical equipment, heavy machinery etc.). That would justify its high P/E.

Compared to that, not only the scope of Jyoti CNC's business is severely limited, but is also not known for high margins. In any 'big deal' (think defence export deals), it is not going to be a direct beneficiary, nor the margins can see any dramatic change because of that. So their PE doesn't make sense to me. To me it looks like they are asking for price that their shares are going to reach a year or two later.

As @MKS IND IPO said, Jyoti and BHEL simply don't seem comparable to me.

I think this is high time we should respect the role of CG as moderator even if we all understand that @newgen consultant is popular amongst us . It can be equated to role of admin in WhatsApp where he has to maintain discipline else he can be pulled up for police action should there be any instigating post .
The contribution of providing knowledge and information by CG should also be appreciated 👍 but let us all obey rules set by SEBI in letter and spirit.

2. And also in the above examples : No one is telling to buy or sell, they are replying to queries or their personal opinion.
What I want to understand is, is it possible for us members to mention “not a sebi registered broker/analyst/financial advisor” and we can carry on with how we used to ?

(You find it out and make us aware that newgen is right and admin is wrong open your court in public domain and show us the proof of newgen) I bet (betting is not allowed here) he was giving his personal opinions and admin would have warned him instead of permanent ban. If newgen would have repeated sharing stocks again then i support (first do research about newgen and make yourself clear than accuse admin on his/her wrong doing step of blocking newgen) admin for permanent ban. Rule book is a rule book and ethics topic is different. One can be blocked on this forum for breaking rule, but cannot be blocked for breaking ethics unless mentioned in rule book.

Maybe admin and Elon maast are same, or else maybe this Elon maast has ains private videos...

There are so many youtube channels and many twitter handles promoting stocks for manipulation. But here we are trying to learn from the experienced members. It would be great if you allow the forum for secondary market discussion in a healthy manner. What most of us are trying is to become financially independent with meaningful discussion and conversation. The buy and sell calls wont work in long run but the knowledge is.

On your 2nd point, you might need to define just when does an IPO cease to be "regarded" as an IPO and "becomes" a stock.
For ex., I know @MRavichandran ji has/had sizeable exposure to Chaman Metallics, an SME IPO. Now SME IPOs aren't as transparent in terms of reporting requirements. So, it becomes almost necessary for SME newbies like me to seek M Ravi ji's updated opinion on the stock. Moreover, if it is not allowed to share personal social media handles on CG, how can I ever get in touch with M Ravi ji off CG?

​@Black Swan Your views are appreciated. However, putting restrictions, you are proposing, to new comers regarding their participation in this forum are not understood. There are plenty of IPOs inflow in a particular month ( like what we saw in Dec last year), if new members can not post their comments for few months or can not post more than 5 messages in a month, for some of IPOs they may altogether miss the chance to ask, interact and learn. Agreed, there must be some miscreants who spoil the forum by spamming, but all others with "New Member" tag should not be subjected to this harsh punishment (sorry to use this word). Why devoid them from collective learning process. You will agree that all the experts, Gurus, Top contributors and Seniors were also New Member when the journey started. There is facility to report SPAM whenever noticed and I believe, site administrators are doing exceptional job of keeping the forum running trouble-free all these years.

Please do not take it otherwise. Just a request to you to review your proposal regarding new members. Let there be free flow of queries, ideas, replies, mentoring etc. amongst the members to make this learning curve more meaningful.

​@Black Swan  Yes I do remember Shridhar who was quite active and I would never miss his views .....still trying to recall few more names whose words were sacrosanct and there was no bullying or disrespect by any members , never ever seen any nuisances of any kind those time ....may be it is equilibrium time and things will settle down slowly.
But I am sorry to differ on your idea to restrict new members as they might be like us who have been reading without becoming member , like thousand others ...membership should not be the criterion.

I am also a member of this forum from 2010..& have also witnessed that several members were either blocked or disappear willingly in these years...some due to their personal reasons & some due to the the immature remarks by the new members of the forum.. In the recent episode of incidence one 26 days old member was using abusing Language against..@Newgen..I also noticed at one place that one junior was making unnecessary arguments with Mr Jetha Lal ji.. & after that Mr Jetha Lal ji rarely post here..

I am not in favour of restrictions on any member for any number of message.
But @Admin @ Chittorgarh.com  at least can have keen view on new member's messages. Messages may be screened for any abusive / unacceptable language / repetitive words. Or admin can make a decision on the number of spam reported against a particular one.

I am also a new member here, although I have myself been part of admin/moderator team on a few other forums a few years ago.

I don't know whether this site has any 'team' of moderators or how many they are in numbers. But I'm assuming there should be a team behind the scenes, large enough to handle common tasks. If not, @Admin @ Chittorgarh.com should consider forming a moderator team to handle reports.

I propose putting new member posts under moderation after first few reports. Like maybe 3 or 5 reports. 1 or 2 reports maybe accidental, 3-5 may be considered serious enough to get attention.

Putting under moderation would mean publishing their posts only after manual approval of a moderation team member. This would no doubt take extra time and efforts, but I'm sure this forum has no shortage of willing credible volunteers to join this 'moderation' team.

Additionally, the moderator status should be made visible to members so they know they are being paid attention to.

Just a few thoughts that came to mind. Of course given the age and nature of this message board, the Admins may have come across such suggestions and needs before, so I trust that whatever they choose or have chosen may be the best option with available resources and conditions.

Looks like the 'Track replies' checkbox, or a few more features (like emoticons in right-click context menu) are not working for me. Not sure due to 'New member' status or due to OS-browser limitations (using Firefox and Chromium on Xubuntu).

​@IPO Traders  Fully support the views . We can't have tutors without taughts and the class is never going to be uniform , there will be some naughty elements like me ( in fact ) 😊😊 whom we can either ignore or convince or remove if required .

CG admin does follow screening and monitoring and weed out unnecessary /indecent msgs but sometimes it was found to deviation and hence discussions is all about that.
On a lighter note , your views doesn't align with the title you have chosen , it could have been better 😁...pls laught away .

1. Restrict new members

New members become top performers over time. We all were new members at one point of time.

We monitor their messages closely and block them at an early stage if found irrelavant.

We are a public forum. We assume that all members of the community are equally responsible, including new members.

Our biggest challenge is PR agencies and self-promoters.

2. Increasing moderation

From time to time we review our moderation skills in the forum. Sometimes we have to crack down, especially in cases of repeated misconduct.

3. The sense of humour

We have absolutely no problem with it, as long as it is kept within limits. It should not prevent other visitors from using this forum or abuse others.

We were actually feedup of the irrelevant, irritating spam messages from one of the member - Elon maast during Tata Tech IPO. Many of us were marking the messages as spam. Yes action was taken by you after 2 -3 weeks. And similar thing again happened in mid of Jan. Can we introduce some restriction on new (old) member sending spam messages?

What happens to the messages marked as spam ?

Suppose a message is marked as spam by 25 or 30+ members, can we block such ID atleast for a week until you reveiw his/her authentication?

​@Basuvr Sir, i support the view of auto blocking a member whose messages are being reported as spam over a set threshold. No intervention needed from the Admin to particularly moderate each message and other members benefit from it as well as they get relieved of constant pestering, but all in all, if and when something like this gets implemented

1. Sorry for the delay in restricting 'Elon maast'. Traffic has been very high in recent months and despite years of experience, we were struggling to keep the platform running.

2. If multiple members mark a message as spam, it will be disabled and forwarded for manual review.

3. At the moment we do not have a procedure to deactivate members due to spam count. This is a good idea. We will think about it.

Out of all the listed financial institutions I could see that except ET and ICICI direct all others came into being after CG ( must have been established in 2005 , guess so ) ...including NSE I guess !!

Even I skipped, but I firmly believe in Indian growth story but that is not a give way thing, it is to be earned. Will enter post listing when a base is formed. I have seen and feeling in my portfolio :) how INOX, AZAD, Happy Forge have gone other way despite an Apply recommendation and attractive price. Since I already invested in good companies above, I took decision to skip. What will happen is future let us see. I believe Jyoti will rise and attract investors at start and then reverse. And INOX, AZAD, Happy Forging will rise after short to moderate interval. So Jyoti will be good for listing gain but uncertain! Wonder what happened to DOMS today. Also HCC on fire 🚀🚀🚀
