MUMBAI: Hem Securities has advised investors to 'Avoid' initial public offering of brokerage firm Inventure Growth and Securities .
"The Company is bringing the issue at price band of Rs 100-117 at P/E multiple of 34-40 at post issue EPS of Rs 2.96 on FY11 PAT. Stiff competition, inconsistent financial performance and high P/E multiple makes the issue unattractive at present level. Hence we recommend investors to "Avoid" the issue.
The company has entered the capital market to raise between Rs 70-82 crore by issuing shares in the price band of Rs 100-177 per share. It plans to use the proceeds for investment in NBFC subsidiary and augment long term working capital requirements.

MUMBAI: At a time when the domestic broking industry is looking at downsizing in terms of operations and personnel, Inventure Growth & Securities' decision to enter the market has evoked mixed reactions on Street.
The company, whose issue opens for subscription on July 20, has priced its initial share sale aggressively at 100-117. It is looking to raise nearly 70-80 crore through an offer of 70 lakh shares of 10 each. The company's decision to go ahead with its share sale in the backdrop of several large broking firms not only shutting their institutional businesses but also letting off a large number of employees has called for a lot of comment from industry experts.
A month ago, Alchemy Shares and Stock Brokers closed its institutional broking arm as declining revenues and stiff competition made the business unviable. Indiabulls Secs, Angel and Tower Capital are among other broking firms that have cut jobs in their institutional or retail broking businesses over the past few months.
"Very clearly, the modus operandi is to bring an IPO at absurd valuations, use 'friendly intermediaries' to have the issue subscribed and leave the dumb retail investor holding the baby," said Arun Kejriwal of KRIS. The company is not only priced aggressively, it has a P/E of 39.52 at the upper price band and a P/E of 33.78 at the lower band on a fully-diluted basis and based on March 2011 consolidated numbers, he said.
In comparison, broking firms like Motilal Oswal have a PE of 10.53, Edelweiss Securities of 10.76 and India Infoline of 11.85. However, Inventure's CMD Nagji K Rita is confident that his company will raise capital successfully. "Market conditions are average. Also, we have full confidence in our business model which is franchise based and our very large and loyal client base," he told ET. I-bankers saythat valuation and pricing are crucial
