I know its painful for us to give first preference to India Shelter and then DOMS but we had no better choice. My sHNI average still fits in DOM but like i said, if it crosses 60x then i will give preference to India Shelter. I have heavy experience where i got 0 although more than average applications than the subscription due to random selection.

Sometimes our number of applications are well above the average subscription still we may not get allotment (0/11 TATA bHNI still hurts 😦) and vice versa may also happen.
What we did was just mathematically improved our chances and it may still happen that we get allotted in the least probable and don't get allotted in the one which had max probability.

100% agree for luck except we have to be practical to apply based on subscription v/s luck. Nowadays subscription is sky rocketing so if we just try luck for more than 1cr+ application then we are ultimately in loss as an average.

For e.g IREDA was first and we applied FF sHNI although had low GMP + low subscription v/s Gandhar/Flair high GMP + high subscription.TATA was obviously everyone's choice.

Conclusion:
Who so ever allotted are in profit irrespective of GMP.

@Krishna T ✨ sir I wanted to know if the rules for allotment in sHNI and bHNI are same or not? Thanks🙏

It would be great to open new thread for new topic. Anyhow,

sHNI:
- Less chances than bHNI.
- Application amount remains 2L+.
- Half number of shares available than bSHNI.
- Pure lottery if over subscribed (if more than 1 time subscription).
- You will get full applied lots if under subscribed.

bHNI:
- More chances than sHNI.
- Application mount remains 10L+ which is ~5X sHNI.
- Double number shares gets available in bHNI category than sHNI.
- If you are allotted then you gets 1 sHNI lot (worth of 2L shares not 10L shares)
- More than 1,2,3..n lots gets preference however there are some other criteria as well for e.g. assume there is only 1 person who applied 1000 lots and he may get rejected. Your lots might be matched with others. I'm not sure about exact software working for many criterias for e.g. there is one person who applied 2 lots and no-else else applied 2 lots and same for others. For that reason, you might have seen many posts "Can anyone joins for 10 lots" etc.
- Lottery if over subscribed who applied 1 lot (if more than 1 time subscription).
- You will get full lots if under subscribed.

I agree with basuvr ji. In oversubscribed mainboard IPO there is no extra advantage in single application of more than minimum lot or lots in retail, SNII or BNII category

​@Krishna T ✨ As you applied in SHNI so wanted to ask you Which is better to apply Retail Or Shni as retail has more no of forms so better chance to get smaller lots, better to get something than nothing. Shni has small qty so less chances.
note. I never got an allotment in SHNI and lost many good Ipo allotment.
So wanted to know your thoughts.

​@Shubham Rana If i would have allotted than i generally sell at double or listing +5-10%. Its very good company and having great business but SME is highly unpredictable and biggies can drive the stock upward and downward.

On an average in mainline IPO:
sHNI - Less chances
bHNI - More chances than sHNI
Retail - More chances than sHNI and bHNI

Above depends on IPO sizing, share allocation and subscription though. Apply/not apply totally based on available funds individually. If you need something and having less funds then always go for retail and try in multiple IPOs.

Rethinking now , given that even the lower subscribed IPO's are upto luck and not really guaranteeing good allotment, isn't it better option to try luck in the one where the returns are superior ?

1. Apply Happy Forging bHNI/sHNI
2. Apply Motisons bHNI/sHNI
3. Apply Credo retail
4. Apply Suraj retail (if fund available)
5. Apply Muthoot retail (if fund available)

OR someone can go reverse (risky but high chances of allotment in first set + more falls into something is better than nothing):

1. Apply Credo bHNI/sHNI
2. Apply Happy Forging bHNI/sHNI
3. Apply Suraj retail
4. Apply Muthoot retail (if fund available)
5. Apply Motisons retail (if fund available)

Distribution according to heavy subscription v/s low subscription.

Even though Happy is almost twice the size of Mufti, bHNI subscription of Happy is twice that of Mufti currently.
sHNI is very much same 16x.

FF sHNI - Happy Forging
FF retail - Mufti
FF retail - RBZ (wherever funds available)

You can follow like above for bHNI FF.

OR

- 50 50 bHNI in Happy Forging and Mufti.
- FF retail of 15K in RBZ if funds available

I remained practical according to subscription v/s luck as you know.

Lottery with all retail application

Lottery is done in pool of applicants with same lot size.If you apply 2 lots,all applicants with 2 lots get in a same pool and some will be allotted.
Ratio remains same either you apply 1 or 13 but chances with 1 lot increases little as applicants with 1 lot would be the highest so the number of allottees will be the highest in 1 lot category pool.

So always apply 1 lot in retail when IPO gets oversubscribed.

​@ElDorado @jay here , My understanding till now on this is that in retail there is no segregation of pools. Whether you apply for 1 lot or 13 lots chances are same. So in over subscribed IPOs there is no point in applying for more than one lot. If you apply for more, you will be just unnecessarily blocking your money.

In oversubscribed retail category, it doesn't matter. You 1 application of 1 lot, or more, will be considered as 1 lottery ticket.. On successful allotment you will get no more than 1 lot.

​@RoK Yes, there is no advantage of blocking fund more than 1 lot and I clearly mentioned that, but the question was if his application would be in the pool of 2 lots or would all be in the same pool.
I remain intact on my view that there is definitely a different group of lots from 1 to 13. For more details, I am attaching a screenshot of Boa please go through it.

You will be able to see clearly there is an individual lottery with each lot from 1 to 13. Ratio definitely remains same but 2 lot applicant will have a lottery with only who apply 2 lots.

​@jay here Although the details of the lots applied are given and the percentage is also given here, but you can see that the allotment ratio is same for all the applicants. This clearly implies that the number of valid applications are considered for lottery and there is no pool of lots applied.

To understand it more clearly you can see the BOA of any SME under HNI category where you can see the pool of more lots getting different ratio of allotments.

So you apply for a single lot or more does not affect your chances of allotment in retail category in any oversubscribed mainboard IPO.

Does it matter if I apply 15 lot or 70, lots in shni ? Or same with bhni? Will I go with lottary with same lot application or whole catagory? Because I see some ipo BOA in shni and bhni allotment ratio is different for all lot size.

I never said applying more than 1 lot will be beneficial you better read all my above messages.I am again pointing out that query was different please read carefully what I replied and what you guys assuming. I already answered what you pointed out :)

​@patel nilay Ji, you are right there will be a slight difference in ratio of allotment, but remember you will always find more allottees in base lot (here 14 Shni,69 Bhni).

So if ratio remains same and allottees are the highest in base lots.So it is always advisable to apply base lot since the number of allottees will be the highest :)

@jay here  if you take a look at allotment basis of tata tech IPO this doesn't hold. Here in BHNI category which is also purely lottery as per new rule you can see different ratio and it is just ratio of allotment for people allotment in that category.

So my understanding is it is lottery over all application in a category disregarding size.

​@HKAdil For BHNI the ratio slightly changes because of number of applications in each lot size differs. But overall the ratio remains same with a slight change. And lottery process is done separately for each lot size.

I know it's a lottery, and I've been saying it since this query was being discussed.
What I've mentioned is advance level of allotment, each category has individual lottery whether it's retail/Bhni/Shni, Allotment ratio in retail remains a same but varies little in shni/bhni in each lot pool I explained it very broadly but sorry to say but most of you couldn't even understand what I was trying to mean, you guys kept saying it's lottery I know it's lottery show me a single message of mine where I denied that fact.

Yes. Ratio would be same but assume if I'm going to apply all my 10 applications[Different PAN] in 2 lot retail applications, and 2 lot applications received are 100, chances will be more since I will be moving away from crowd and creating my separate group where there is more chances of allotment than regular even with same ratio across the lots.

Apply for Lot 1 because it will receive the highest number of applications, which will also result in the highest number of allottees. Also, there is no need to block more fund unnecessarily.
The higher the allottees,the higher the chance of your application to get selected.

Every category is allotted in same proportion. Just by applying higher lots no body is moving to a privileged category. The ratio is not applied for each category it is applied as a whole. So if you apply 1 lot or 13 lot the lottery is same. Everybody is considered in the same lottery and no category wise lottery here.

In case of oversubscribed mainboard IPO there is no extra advantage in single application of more than minimum lot or lots in any category retail, SNII or BNII. Sometimes higher lots may get one additional share but it is extremely small benefit so it should be ignored. Suppose if SNII category is oversubscribed 10 times application wise so every applicant has 10 percent chance of getting allotment of minimum number of lots in SNII category, in some IPO s it may be 14 lots and in other IPO s it may be 15 lots. Suppose there are 6 applicants who have applied for 21 lots each. STILL EVERY APPLICANT HAS 10 PERCENT CHANCE OF GETTING ALLOTMENT OF 15 LOTS (OR 14 LOTS AS THE CASE MAY BE). But actual allotment table may show that out of 6 applicants no one is successful in lottery or 1 is successful in lottery. It leads to your confusion. So I repeat in the above mentioned example EVERY APPLICANT HAS 10 PERCENT CHANCE OF GETTING ALLOTMENT OF 15 LOTS. I repeat THERE IS NO EXTRA ADVANTAGE IN APPLYING MORE THAN MINIMUM NUMBER OF LOTS. In the above example PERSON APPLYING FOR 15 LOTS HAS 10 PERCENT CHANCE OF GETTING 15 LOTS, PERSON APPLYING FOR 21 LOTS HAS 10 PERCENT CHANCE OF GETTING 15 LOTS, PERSON APPLYING FOR 25 LOTS HAS 10 PERCENT CHANCE OF GETTING 15 LOTS. IT IS regarding single application of multiple lots.

It is exact same,what does it mean? It means they give allotment to particular lot pool.
If we believe it is lottery in general(your belief) then how can % be from all lot categories same?
It should be rather X% from 1 lot category and Y% from 13 lot applicants.(x&y refers different number)
Example referring to your image if it is general lottery then % from above mnetioned categoreis should be different like 5% allottees from lot 1 and 2% allottees from lot 13 but it is not allotted like that.

There is no extra advantage in single application of more than

​@techuser It is not possible in oversubscribed ipo that any lot category will have single applicant but since you mention hypothetical I would like to answer with my extent of knowledge

In proportionate allotment

If HNI is 100x subscribed
So to be eligible for allotment the category should be more than 0.50(lot applied/Total oversubscription) sometime it varies but it remains near.50
so the applicant who will bid with 51 lots or more will be allotted even if he is alone in that 51 lot category but the applicant who apply 35 lots and alone will not be part of lottery and will not be allotted anything.
For 35 lots applicants to be eligible in lottery there should atleast 2 memeber(0.50>)
35÷100=0.35 (not 0.50>)
So 0.35*2=0.70
So any one out of two will be allotted.

For 10 lots applicants to be eligible in lottery
There should atleast 6 members
Because 10/100=0.10
So 0.10*6=0.60.

I assume there will not be allotment if there is single applicant since it will be break of the ratio that other categories may follow.if you apply 7 lots and you will be allotted then ratio will be different 1:1 and other categories may have different ratio.So it's not possible to get allotment for a single applicant.I am not sure but this what my thesis says :)

​@ElDorado Given is FedFin basis of allotment knowlingly taken as it waa very less subscribed still those who applied for 107 shares a lot got 107 and those who applied 1391 or 13 lots got 107 shares only and ratio of 45 folks getting out of 59 irrespective of how many they applied. Once retail crosses 1x it become 1 lot each. Basic class 4th maths if you understand logic.

Chalo thoda competition kam hua. Waise bhi 4 ke baad mandate aana 50-50 rehta hai aur 4:30 ke baad to 25% chance reh jata hai. Sabse best hai jis din ipo aye us din time nikal ke laga do mandate bhale 4:59 par accept kar lo.
