Swiggy IPO Update

Swiggy has submitted draft documents for its IPO, which includes a fresh issue and an offer for sale (OFS).

Fresh Issue: 3,750 Cr
Ofs: 18,52,86,265 equity shares ( Approx $750 mn)

Sir offmarket rate is 490 Rs ...So i dont think it will at 340 rs ...40% jump in rates in last 2 months....

IPO price would be below off market rate. Or in other words IPO price + GMP will be aprox offmarket rate.

Valuation and Liquidty has no relation.
Brain and Brainless is no comparision.
Old people will not sell at any price. Greedy will buy at any price. MF will park there funds at any price. So logics dont end at valuation. Example Bajaj Hosuing.

Additionaly, whole India remembers R Power LIC, Paytm.
So people will only subscribe if GMP is there.
Will Skip any good company at low GMP. (eg. Firstcry, Ola)

So GMP more or less, is not in our control. It will stay or Juniper, Samhi, etc

@ Worth learnng valudation do matter.
Bajaj housing is no exception...It will tumble down to 100-120 levels....Same tata Tech story....
Here also it will be very tough for Hyundai...

​@Amit Chheda Most of the liquidity is absobed. Who will sell if anyone doesnt have the stock. In IPO it is not valuationm but demand supply that matters.

Bajaj Housing will come to offload its 13% in next 2 years.

They will, I say it again, They will offload 13% stake at above CMP.

Aditionally people dont see P/E, they see Maruti is at 13000, Hyudai XYZ peanuts.

The most higly rewarding IPOs for me this year in Mainboard have been JNK, Vodapone, FirstCry, Bharti Hexa ... and in all of these the GMP was not more than 20%.

So yeah, I think IPO is a combination of GMP (buy the momentum) plus contra call (based on valuation like the above ones I mentioned).

Ofcourse there is a risk of discount listing when GMP is low, and that is when valuations play a cruial role in taking a call on an IPO (if we are convinced to hold on to it for medium term based on valuations)

​@WorthLearning I do not understand why you keep bringing up RPower, LIC & Paytm in most of your posts. Pls remember that while RPower subscription numbers may be high, LIC & PayTm subscription numbers were pathetic (which clearly gave a hint on how they will list). So there is no relation to put them under same example. Not sure what you are trying to convey with these 3-4 stock examples.

I remember you from Bajaj Housing as well where you were very circumspect about the GMP. And even on the listing day though you congratulated all the allotees but still repeated your valuation theory (which kind of gives an impression that you are right & markets are wrong).

The problem I have seen with people and myself as well when I was in my initial days of my share market career is that, people who think single dimension are always left out in the market on the side lines. Need to understand the reality and adopt.

You may have to tune into Atul Suri's interviews a lot. 'Trend is your friend until it bends'.

What I meant to say in entire conversation, no rush for grey is needed. Valuation is not the only aspect.

** I did not make good money out of Bajaj Housing. As I was after valuation. And did not understand momentum.

There is alot of frenzy and majorly its a very big issue absorbing soo many shares would be a huge task .... Maybe pricing must be on lower side then premiums can sustain

It is application rate whether you get allotment or you dont doesnt matter

In bajaj i did not sell but it was around 24000 considering my case 24 applications i got only 2 allotments would have been beneficial

But important thing is Tax is what you have to pay soo you have to consider that

In Hyundai IPO i have sold solely because i dont think it will list at 50% and in this case being hedged is always better atleast you make money when you feel there is a risk

I do not exit stocks merely due to high valuations during bull markets. Instead, I rely on entering at a cheap valuation to maintain a favorable risk-reward ratio, viewing any market downturns as opportunities to accumulate rather than panic sell. I sold my position in PREMIER upon listing, not because of valuation concerns, but because my investment thesis, which consists of many parameters such as valuation, market euphoria, stock ownership dynamics, sector conditions, and prevailing tailwinds or headwinds, indicated it was the right move. Similarly, I exited my position in VI based on the same thesis, as both stocks had high expectations, and while they initially delivered 20 to 30 percent quick gains, their subsequent performance has proven more volatile.

The key takeaway is not that I am always right or superior, as I have had my share of failures. However, over the years, I have refined my thesis, which has helped me make informed decisions about when to sell, an aspect that is often more challenging than knowing when to buy.

It’s difficult to issue a generalized buy/sell recommendation, as this depends on individual factors such as risk appetite, holding period, overall portfolio quality, and position size. In my view, both companies are poised for substantial growth in the coming years, and I maintain a very positive outlook on their future potential. I' may keep/add both of them after earnings catch up the valuatuon

​@hardik vaishnav I am not a broker ... I buy or sell applications via gujarat brokers. As grey deals are largely based on trust randomly brokers dont buy sell .
Try to contact regular stock brokers they might help you with reference

If the premium is low (peicing is high), good chances of less subscription and over allotment in case of 10 L application. Those selling, be aware that you can get allocation of beyond 2 L

Previously, I also chose to engage in gray market trading at fixed or subject-to rates. However, I have since learned that hedging on premium is a more advantageous approach, particularly in large-sized IPOs. Here are my reasons:

1. If you anticipate that the bubble is about to burst and the stock will list flat or at a discount, the pressure in the gray market will facilitate easier allotment. For instance, in the case of the VI FPO, BHNI applicants were allocated more than 2 L rs. shares due to undersubscription. In such scenarios, dealing at a premium would yield benefits from the extra shares.

2. Conversely, if you expect the stock to list positively, trading at a premium will typically result in greater rewards compared to fixed or subject-to rates.

Through my experience with many multiple applications, I have come to believe that consistently dealing at a premium is more advantageous than relying on fixed or subject-to rates, unless one has the capacity to apply for only a couple of applications in large IPOs, in which case fixed or subject-to may be more suitable.

Than i re-asked indirectly to that broker that another broker is giving me this mucj premium. Than he started dealing with me @ premium rates. And as you are saying in, you have contact of 2 broker, upon insisting, you will get it, i am sure.

Whatever amount of shares you get 4 6 or 2 the entire amount of shares and any profit / loss is theirs

Back calculating from issue size and no. of shares, it comes to 1758 (taking Rs 25,000 Cr) or 1764 (taking $3 Bn).
So, must be thereabout.

20 Billion valauation chahye company ko ipo valuation of 168000 crore not 134000 crore according to your price...it will be near to 2000 rs according to there valuation plan ..1996 se company hai 20 billion valuation to banta hai...dont worry 2000 price pe bhi 600 GMP ho sakta hai..Look today Maruti up 5 %

Is se accha Tata motors le loo 15 ke PE par mil raha hai Hyundai 24 Ke PE se ayega.. worldwide hyundai shares are at discount compare with there pears....

I disagree; just look at Tata Motors' P&L for the past few years, and you'll see why it's trading at a cheaper valuation. Although its EV segment shows potential, the market typically assigns valuations accurately.

I cannot definitively predict if it will yield substantial gains upon listing, but I am firmly convinced that the consumption sector holds significant promise for the future. I remain decidedly optimistic and see no issue with incorporating it into the portfolio and committing to a substantial position in the stock, provided it can be acquired at ONLY an attractive valuation. As the listing date approaches, it will be prudent to conduct a more thorough reassessment.

@ jay here Thats the reason i sold all 12 retail applications at 3600 per application and also shorted 100 shares at 800 rs in grey market...as i think this premium is not sustainable above 1600 price band...Baki dekde ke banda rab rakha 😂Other point is globally Hyundai shares are underperforming by 30 to 40 % margin with there pears....

It is Jaguar, Land rover, Commercial Vehicle etc.
No apple to apple comparision with Hyundai.

Secondary, Tata Motors price will also depens on its Jaguar or Land Rover sales performance in China or Europe.

So, Compare it with Maruti to get a better idea.

And if the MF guy has liquidity for lets say 5 years (its more than 1.5 yrs now), and people with theories like your's watch the game from the sidelines (bcoz these theoritical people are concerned with IPO valuations)...what will happen is...

All those who participate in the game (IPO) will make money for 5 years, and then they will lose money in some IPOs after 5 years (once liquidity dies down),...but still net net they make money.

And what about the sideline commentators ? No loss, no gain... just wasting their time.
