Sebi-enforced stress tests of various smallcap and mutual fund schemes are unnecessarily spooking the market as there is no scientific basis for the calculations being done by fund houses, Sebi's former executive director and top lawyer Sandeep Parekh said.
"It assumes liquidity to be a constant at best and extrapolates the past into the future at worst. If liquidity actually vanishes in a particular stock, it can just vanish not in 6 days or 14 days or whatever other metric is used - it will vanish in a microsecond. Analysis by extrapolation may or may not work. Yes, liquidity is often higher with higher volatility - but it's not a given," Parekh said on X.
He asserted that it is not the job of the regulator to predict either market levels (no matter how well-meaning, even accurate) or liquidity (which can't be predicted).
"It can be a self-fulfilling prophecy - if you are trying to predict that the markets are overvalued and that liquidity can vanish - the prediction itself would dry liquidity and reduce prices," Parekh, who runs Finsec Law Advisors firm said, adding that it is best to leave data-whispering tasks to academic papers rather than regulatory philosophy.
Indian stock market is at an inflection point. An inflection, by it’s nature, always causes some jitters as one tries to break free from past trends into unknown future trajectory. No one is wrong here, neither SEBI nor investors, it’s just a natural tug of war between traditional investing and euphoria. For mature investors, stay put, as India’s growth story has only begun.
Regarding stress tests, one can hear yesterday’s interview between Singhvi and Quant MFs CIO Sandip Tandon on YTube. Some wonderful titbits from one of the best performing MFs, and why they’re extremely bullish on fundamentally good stocks.
At the same time, it’s an opportunity to weed out some fluffy stocks, malicious investors and perhaps some short-play of flippers. All in all, a good thing for most genuine businesses and genuine investors.
@Kapz I also had the same perspective of the market (specifically certain stocks under my radar) at an inflection point where it could go for a correction or rally.

In words of top executive of Kotak AMC (just for information purpose) :
"The stress tests are not causing this (market) correction. Rather, it is the unwinding of excesses, particularly for retail investors who have invested in low-quality stocks,"
Some of the stocks are way ahead of their fundamentals and correction is obvious.
@newgen consultancy@harit and other experts.... Regarding SBI Electrol Bonds, if Adani's name come (which is obvious), what will be impact on shares? Anything like this happened in past? Please enlighten...

umm, no. Direct names cannot come, indirectly people will try finding relations somehow. But i dont think so prominent names will come up in the first place because if so it wouldnt be released at all since it can swing elections.
Nothing much, May be volatility seems for day or two in adani and other groups stocks.
Quid pro quo can't established just by names poped up
Though it can be an issue for general elections
Ironically everyone knows everything but nothing concrete can be done
Even hindenburg reports are almost scrapped, which unearthed everything
Earlier Panama papers, wikileaks has done nothing much too
These corporate giants are virtually untouchables by enforcement agencies as long as big political connections are existing. Shouting can be heard in news channels for some time and ultimately silence 🤐 untill some new phenomenon come up.
Either way perticularly for adani stocks ,one should be cautious and be ready to embrace uncertainty anytime. Besides SBI bonds , one should keep an eye on SEBI meeting regarding IPO funding, SME ipo manipulations and midcap small cap safeguard directions on/for MF industries , which can be more harmful
Bhai, naam aa bhi gaya to usse kya ho jayega? Kyon bekar ki besirpair wali baaton ki itni tension lete hain aap?
Issues ke akaal me ye electoral bonds ka so called 'issue' chalaya to aise ja raha hai jaise koi ghotala ho. Ye parliament se pass kiya hua decision tha jo fully regulated roadmap ke hisab se implement kiya gaya. It was just a measure to ensure ki chande me black money na use ho paye. Sirf wahi paisa use ho paye jo already records me hai.
Isse problem bhi unhi ko hai jo black money par dependent the. Isiliye iske iske properly discussion aur fully agreed upon implementation ke baad last moment me natak kiya jisse ye cancel ho aur koi naya system implement hone se pahle beech me blackmoney siphon karne ka mauka mil jaye.
Isme agar kuchh thoda bahut questionable hai to vo hai Supreme Court ka aise time me isko rokna. Kal ko koi milord maal phoonk kar election commission ko bhi bol dega ki chalo voters ke naam aur kisko vote kiya wo bhi disclose karo, to kya usse koi bhi voter ya segment of voters illegal ho jayega?
Ye electoral bonds ko 'ghotala' bolna Rafael, Notebandi, ya CAA wale arguments jaisa hi super stupid argument hai isko seriously lene ki koi zarurat nahi.
Don't buy at current price I think price going down to 300 I am not applying in Gopal Snacks

I didn't apply to this ipo as I have already forseen negative listing. During ipo subscription time market was going down like anything, even reputed shares were going down. So do not apply to any ipo. This is just trap for innocent retail investors. Do your research and invest in secondary market otherwise you will lose all your capital. Until and unless reputed company is doing ipo do not apply. It's all trap ,you will loose lots of money.

Mutual funds are getting 15,000-20,000cr just through SIP inflows each month irrespective of market levels. No respect for performance. How can fund managers hold that cash for long and so, it’ll be tough for the market to fall continuously even for a month.
@sdz The last I heard, Ms. puri was enforcing exit on MFs under the guise of a stress test. She has team of strong 200 women fund managers working on her whims.
What's strange is she also advised people to buy Invits / Reits as if SEBI is some Govt sponsered advisory.

How is it even possible to say we give total freedom for the companies to price their IPOs and parallely tell fund managers and investors not to invest at higher levels. Also, I always hated huge push into SIP model of investment by all stake holders (MFs, Sebi, Analysts, broker and even Govt) irrespective of market as if it is like Home Loan EMI. This leads to bias towards only a few index and normal stocks and gives contrast picture versus broad market
A PIL should be filed in the Supreme court to investigate the shady remarks by Ms. puri, leading to a supermassive wealth destruction and wrestling of shares from small retailers right before the elections. Who shorted the market? Who benefited from the fall by getting to buy shares at cheap valuations? This doesn't look like a matter of co-incidence l. Was Ms. puri previously working with ICICI securities? What was the reason behind her leaving the job?

👌👏 That’s correct way of thinking as biggies always manipulate market and try to control it for their entries and exits

Was allotted 3 out of 3 retail lots even though 2 of them were via 3rd party UPI. Looks like fate or there was some manipulation. Exited 2 lots fully at 381 and 383 and will take a decision on 3rd lot in some time. It may cross IPO price tomorrow but who can guarantee? A good post-listing otherwise thanks to recovering small caps.
With Lil experience, whenever stocks touch (kiss) UC on listing day and don't hold (like today) it becomes weak(it's not rule, and I may be wrong) I am holding my only alloted lot
@Nothing New Exactly. An open way of establishing how the allotment goes to the allottees would be useful but I don't think it will be done any time soon. As far as the secondary market, an impending correction would be good but few individuals state that we are not in a bubble.

Exited 3rd lot at 388.
@haritlooks like it kissed UC today too and then bounced the other way. Don't have much patience on this counter.
