I can not do short selling on listing day of the IPO through my ICICIDIRECT account.
But ppl in the forum are shorting on the listing day itself.How come they are doing.
Could u guys pls tell me.

Iam sorry for trying to irritate you. My advice is;
Read stock market related books, watch websites and look for fundamentally strong companies (atpresent very few were left at mid/smal cap space) due to past years bounce back. Invest 90% of your Portfolio as stock investment and 10% as stock trading.

Don't go to depression.

1. Stop intraday.
2. Read 3 - 4 brokerage reports, nespapers / magazines & apply for IPOs.
3. For long-term, choose 3 - 4 diversified mutual funds having a least 3 years track record & invest systematically. Don't pick for short-term delivery also.

Good. So you bought shares of Unitech at Rs 40 tooo. One should bur more at lower prices to average down the acquisition price, if convinced of the fundamentals. Assuming you are also knowledgeable, as cited by you, I home your average acquisition valus if less than the CMP of 78. Sell now and enjoy the profits.

Nobody need be interested in your portfolio,how you accumulated it and how smart you are in the market.

Next you might start how you found your husband (if you have one), how smart he is in stock picking, how you converted him to your methods,how your children aged 7 and 5 can also pick stocks with your pedigree etc.

With all the experience and the wealth you have Priya if it is connected with IPO please post it.

it feels great if you make a profit on intraday, but then there is also this worse feeling when you lose money, and most of the case it is the fear of losing money, which overweighs the joy of making profit. YOu can take a chance on intraday only when you have make some decent profit and you dont mind losing some of them.

You are a fortunate one. How many responses to your single query? Mine is to recover your loss...simple suggestion is "Buy at low and sell at High" and continue to do so till you recover your loss. Keep it secret.

agreed, that it was bad luck on your part that you lost in intrasoft on intraday , but as most of them will advice , to go for delivery based trading. morever, just by investing in ipos' (there are a lot of them lined up) you can make a cool profit, rather than always be tensed when you short any script and never know how it will behave thru the day.

latha, you have to be selective, yes intrasoft is not a great company and naturally the tendency is to short it, but market behaves in a funny way. a not so great company like intrasoft did not tank after the initial hiccup, but persistent went down when everybody expected to go beyond 430 levels.

ya sure vishu, i will. but u know i lost in tntrasoft yesterday by shorting it. hard luck.everyday is not same
