Experts please answer my query related to shareholders category: Q1- I have 2 demats, one with ICICI direct and one with Zerodha, both same PAN I have glenmark shares in Zerodha demat, but I apply IPO from ICICI direct, so i will be eligible for shareholder category or not? Q2- What is the maximum number of lots that can be applied in shareholders category (2lac or 5lac)?
When ipo open before that registrar will send email for all eligible shareholders, in that read how to apply in shareholder category.
Registrar will send email to email address which is linked to demat account where share is held.
Baki tum dekho konase demat se apply karana hai.

KDKing and Chem Cho are correct,
Registrar will get to know your shareholder eligibility from the demat account because of shareholding in the demat account. So demat account and pan both are important.
Why take a chance, better apply in the same demat account where share is purchased.
On listing you can sell from a demat account from IPO allotment and at the same time purchase from your choice demat account where you want to hold for a long term.

@duckeye as far as i know we can have only 1 demat for a PAN
You have to apply with your Zerodha account. To answer your second question, there is no limit in number of lots you can apply in shareholders quota. Rule is that if you apply below 2 lac, you are eligible for another application in Retail quota. If you are applying above 2 lac, you will be considered an HNI and there is no upper limit(upto the size of shareholders portion).
Can you pls tell me how you arrived at the conclusion that there no limit for shareholder quota? DRHP says shareholder quota is up to 2L only. I know in the past SBI Card has allowed shared holder quota above 2L but I think it is not the case with GLS. Can you pls confirm?
Last time I applied in shareholders quota was in SBI Cards, and the rules I mentioned above were applicable there. I don''t know if rules are different in glenmark.

@kring Good and healthy discussion.
Have you ever experiment on shareholder category by applying from third party asba and get allocated shares.
No sir, I have not done any experiment. Getting shareholder quota itself in any IPO is a rare thing and I don''t want to screw up the opportunity by trying something different. Thanks!

For all those who are looking to apply in Shareholders quota. Allotment will be done on proportionate basis, which means if share holder quota is subscribed 10X, then for guaranteed allotment we have to apply minimum 10 lots, which is difficult for a common retail investor.

If it comes while the market is at peak, it will give some gain. Otherwise....
