Good to see employees subscribing 90%. The real diwali cracker will be if GIC decides to price the share at 855. Will it happen? possibilities are there. If it happens then Happy Diwali folks :-)
Robust growth, healthy dividend record make GIC offer attractive Source: Economic times
India''s largest and the world''s 12th biggest reinsurance company, General Insurance Corporation of India (GIC), plans to raise upto Rs 11,373 crore from the primary market.
Of this, upto Rs 1,569 crore will be infused as fresh capital into the company while the remaining will be collected by the central government through stake sale. Given the company''s strong growth and consistent dividend record, the demanded IPO valuation looks reasonable.
Business Incorporated in 1972, GIC is in the business of insuring the risk taken by insurance companies in India and overseas. Its product portfolio includes agri culture, engineering, health, fire, marine, and motor among other business lines.
In FY17, it collected Rs 33,740.8 crore in gross premiums (GP) of which over 30 per cent was from international business. Its overseas GP grew at an annualised rate of 25 per cent while total GP (India and overseas) grew 48.7 per cent between FY15 and FY17

Many people those have applied in GIC through SBI ASBA at yesterday night, there applications r rejected today. My both application rejected. Received message from SBI as follows - Your request to mark lien for GENERAL INSURANCE CORPORATION XXXX IPO(Equity) issue has failed.Any lien marked on your account for this transaction, will be released.
integration issues folks, SBI has become a half cooked khichadi with thiose numerous associate banks as the ingredients served to ya''ll in a hasty manner. so for those who savored it, indigestion was but obvious.
