This can happen due to following reasons
1. PAN of the Demat account and Bank account holder are not matching (applying through another person's bank account)
2. Applying from a bank account which is not linked with your Demat account.

Previously, I successfully applied for several SME and Mainboard IPOs using the same bank and demat account, and even received a few allotments. However, this is the first time I have encountered an issue with an Ganesh SME IPO.

Y,day i applied ggbl and effwa from IDFC bank at 4:12 pm and received confirmation from bank and NSE at 5:10 pm

In recent months got in retail (1 lot) fror Amic Forging, Wise Travels, Shri Balaji Valve & Rulka which were subscribed ~300 times. I apply from 3 of my accounts and got allotment of 1 lot from these accounts (2,1,1)

All of retail quota will go to single lot applications only so a large percentage of allotment will happen to single lot applicants but probability of a single application getting allotment will be very low. Ideally,for IPOs subscribed more than 300 times a regular retail applicant will get roughly one allottment in 300 IPOs (2-4 years ??)

​@Bill  I have 2 accounts in zerodha and 1 in Dhan. Allotment was Dhan 2, Zerodha 1 +1. But I don't think broker account plays any role here. Its pure luck and the probabaility as @Iposs  mentioned is stacked against retail investor. We need to just apply rest dependends on luck and fate.

​@Rohan Bajaj 3×104 lots applications are enough for 1 allotment. If noone has applied for 104 lots, then u will most likely get 1 lot.

Want to understand 1 thing from experts here. Suppose if issue is subscribed 475 times, then if I apply 120 lots x 2 applications and nobody else is there in that lot size, then will I get confirmed allotment? Or there should be atleast 3-4 applicants for consideration of draw of lots?

​@Rohan Bajaj As per details shared by @MuStrFc sir, number of application doesn't matter in any category. If you are the only applicant in that category and, if (Number of lots applied) / (Total HNI subscription) > 0.5, then you will get one lot.
In your example. (120*2) / 475 > 1, so this fill fetch 1 lot.

@Jugaadu Bhai, 35 crore nahi, 3.5 crore hi huye hai.. although yeh bhi jyada hai but itna to aajkal normal ho gaya hai kaafi logon ke liye.

​@RJDB May be these weren't the only application in that category.
When Total number of lots in a category / Total subscription > x.5, then total lots allotted in that category will be (x+1) & if less than x.5, then x number of lots will allotted in that category.

So I guess there were 2 applications in these categories.
(220*2) / 434 = 1.01, so only 1 lot was allotted in 264000 lots category, & unfortunately you were the one who was not allotted.

​@Anuwak Thanks for your revert, I checked Shivalic BOA (on Chittorgarh) Qty: 264,000 (220x), 265,200 (221x) and 266,400 (222x) were signal applications in the respective category, considering these are > 0.5 times 434x but were not allotted any shares.

I was wondering what could be the reason for non-allotment and if there is some other logic to it.

My understanding was upto this only but it doesn't seem to be working here.

There is no guaranteed allotment even if you cross 0.5x oversub with no other co-applicant.
In this case your chances of allotment will be increased but no guarantee.
For 100% confirmed allotment, one has to cross 1x of oversub (for practical purposes > 0.6x should get allotment most of the times, as I've seen in many BOAs).
There may be other single applicants at 0.55x, 0.6x ... 0.8, 0.99x, etc along with 0.5x, first these higher category applicants will be allocated one lot post that if there are any shares left to form the lot then only lower category applicants will be allotted.

​@Anuwak Yes as rightly pointed out by GrayIsTheNewBlack. It depends of availability of recession shares and fulfill gape from.least to highest required shares to make one 100% of lot

​@RJDB @Anuwak As per the working i did to extract the data, if by chance the subscription would have ended at 264000, 265200, 266400 they would have surely got 1 lot as around 13000 surplus shares were available till that. But going down, as more lots got bid at around 448800 lot category the things changed and surplus shares turned into deficit and since this lot category and more after this required less number of shares to complete 1 lot they got preference and after that not enough shares were left to be allotted to these 264000, 265200 and 266400 categories.

@GrayIsTheNewBlack Recently i have seen that RTAs not showing Surplus / Deficit column which aided in such calculations, something intentional from their end or one -off in so many issues?

​@MuStrFc Yes presently they r not showing excess / short shares mechanism. I hv noted that RTA gives extra lot to maximum applied lots application ( generally 7 to 12 ) at there freedom . I may be wrong but what I anticipated and noticed ....

​@Anuwak  As per your formula as Rohan applied 104 lots so 104/470.4= 0.22 which is less than 0.5.

What am I doing wrong in this calculation?

​@RJDB , Why not ask the registrar and ask them with details of specific case. It would be good to know the specifics for future reference.

​@MuStrFc - Yeah, I have also observed that few RTAs publish that data few don't.
If there is a full BOA available, even we can calculate the surplus/deficiti numbers, Calcaulation is not that difficult.

​@TedMosby He applied 3 applications of 104 lots, so total comes at 312 lots.
But as HNI members explained, even > 0.5 is not a surity for allotment. Few other things also come into account.

I am impatient only because I applied 236 lots for Ganesh (just around 3pm considering the HNI subs was ~4.5K Cr, and it subsequently shot up to ~8.3K Cr by EOD).
I am feeling uneasy considering i could have easily added at least 5 more lots to my 236x if i would had correctly estimated the oversubscription :)
@Iposs Yes, i will surely ask Kfin if i don't get an allotment Today so i can share those inputs here..

​@RJDB Sir, I feel you should have gone FF instead of holding back the money of 5 additional lots you had.
Anyways today was no IPO closing to hold back the additional funds.
The way subscription sky rockets post 3 pm these days, any kind of subscription estimates are easily surpassed.

Agree with you @GrayIsTheNewBlack I only kept those funds handy for any opportunity in Secondary market & Today's listing of Emcure & Bansal, seems to huge mistake :(

Eligible, you have applied in retail category for 1 lot, so you are part of the lottery mix @Professōr

1 lot is eligible for lottery, for this issue for every 176 applications 1 applicant will get allotment. (approx)
