Jay / Vas nat, simple logic tells me that if there is a strong likelihood of getting the share cheaper after listing, I should not apply for it in the IPO, independent of how confident / bullish I am about its future.
I value companies fundamentally, too. And I consider the share price an important component of the fundamentals. e.g. Infosys is a stupid buy currently if you buy it at Rs 10000 and a great value at Rs 2000. Ditto for Galaxy.
Dear IPO?stock guro mujhe logo ko ye issue mai 'phasa' ke kya milnewala hai...na hi mujhe superstar banne mai koi interest hai.. Maine jo bhi likha tha wo meri kuch saalo ki study se market ki jo understanding hai usspe mai bola.. Ye maine bhi experience kia hai dat if u lose money money in 1 or 2 ipo's u feel all the comapnies r fraud but i dont think dat is true.. Aur mujhe ek baat batao u saying ke maine 399 mai nai bech ke galti kia par kya jabhi listing gain ke tym sablog 320 mai bech rahe the kisiko malum tha wo 399 pahuchega in the same way i xpect coal india 2 go higher dat is my analysis i mayb wrong but it better than jus takin a decision on wat ppl r saying ryt?
Jay - All fundamentally good companies do not perform well in listing/short term/medium term. Its all about getting the valuation right. Valuation is what? Its the perception what people have based on various factors at that point of time. Attractive valuation now say @ nifty 5400 may become highly valued @ nifty 4800.
The first point on which the company can be assessed is by fundamentals for which Galaxy may score full marks. The second one is the valuation. For elaborate details on ipo behaviour, pl read the msgs of Sreedhar.
Our easy tool to access this valuation for 200 cr size ipos is to check the QIB subscription. So wait for the same and decide.
May be long investors can take decision based on fundametals alone. But how many such investors are there among us?
JAY"S IF YOU HAVE NOT SOLD COAL INDIA AT LEAST TODAY AT RS 399 OR YESTERDAY YOU ARE NOT GOOD ANALIST COAL INDIA IA DOWN 6 % AFTER HIGH OF 399 NOW RS 374 AT 11.AM 18 MAY 11 WAIT FOR THE COAL INDIA TO ANOUNCE EMPLOYES WAGE HIKE AND THEN BUY AT LOWS
Tumlog sablogg bol rahe ho QIB portion mai subscription nai hai,QIB portion mai subscription nai hai lekin koi ye kyu nai consider karta hai some of the biggest players in the market who will not invest their money anywhere without through research & meetings with the market like Arohi, Golman Sachs & ICICI prudential have come in as anchor investor, investing more than 30.5 crores alredy in the issue.
is site pay kus log investors ko ullo bana kar veak ipo may phasana chahtay hi,coal india ka example day kar apnay ap ko superior batatay hi, unko pata nahi ki NHPC,SJVNL,PTC FIN. ,NMDC,NTPC,ENG. India, Ship.co. , bhi bahut strog psus hi jo aj market may dhol chaat rahay hi, sua discount may hi 2 ,3 years say.
Guys I know just looking at the overall picture of the market what you are assuming is correct but remember not all companies making their issues at the same time are of the same kind. Galaxy has a very dpendable management I know its not very easy to trust a stranger with your money but I have researched a lot & rarely have gone wrong with the results. This is issue is the 'best' if you are looking for a fundamentally strong company that is goining to give you great returns in future. Listing gain is not somthing that should matter to you in a company so fundamentally strong because it will giv u much higher returns in 3-6 months than the listuing gains.you all must have sold your coal india shares at a listing gain but i hav not sold a single share because i know a comapny so fundamentally strong will giv me much more in a few months time.
You are right. All brokerage house and CRISIL have given positive outlook on Galaxy. It means it is ok as far as fundamentals are concern not for listing gain. For us more important is how it perform in market. We should try to invest at listing For better and attractive price with six month time horizon.
1) The Cash segment in 2011 is a mere 4%. 2) The Futures trade reached a max of 63% in 2008. 3)The Options took the lead after 2008 meaning more traders / speculators are in the market who limit their risk.

116 AMIT MISHRA In an interview in tv channel new sebi cheif was discusing with the new ipos, he has said an important point that track record of managers to the issues should be one point in appling the ipo ie good managers to the issue , price the ipo attrative so that some money is left on table this ipo is over priced most of the analist say avoid the issue an small issue of 200 croes should suscribe 20 to 30 times in QIB then only think of appling
the lead managers of this issue are very active. grey market activity is delayed because of vaswani scam. we will see kostak rate from tomorrow. qib will also be subscribed by atleast 4 to 5 times. however don't fall in their trap. avoid the issue
IPO totaly flop it is big brother of vasvani, only 5% subscribe, value not more than 150 in this veak market, rating agencies totaly failed look 4 rating PTC FIN, MATOOTH FIN,EROSS,Becarefull.
Guys , only 5 % subscription till now in nse Seems that this ipo is not going to be subscribed at the end. If so , surely they are going to reduce the price .. even then donot subscribe -> The same case of claris ( Have lost my money in that IPO )
