ABHISHEKCA there is no specific category for specific people. By application of number of lots your category define . So if you apply only 1 lot then you fall under retail category

Apply for 14 Lots (amount exceeding 2 lakhs ) then you fall under SHNI CATEGORY

IF YOU apply for more than 10 lakhs amount of lots from one PAN then you will fall under BHNI category

In most netbanking or brokers website or app, while applying for IPO you need to select RII category for retail applications & NII category for hni application. In NII, if you apply for lots so that net amount is greater than 2 lakhs & less than 10 lakhs, you are sHNI, & if you apply for no of shares so that net amount is greater than 10 lakhs, you become bHNI.

Might be due to change in quota
As in IPO details section retail quota is showing: not more than 10%.
But on subscription page, it is showing quota of 17.49%.

Expected Allotment Ratio:

BHNI- 1:13
SHNI-1:70
Retail- 1:40

Application wise bHNI 1:20

App wise it will be below 13 & subscription wise around 70 times

@ Hostpacker, for bHNI, subscription divided by 5 gives you roughly the allotment ratio or application wise figure.

Yes, but still few BHNI are applying amount more than minimum applicable amount for BHNI. App wise it will be maximum 13 times which takes subscription to 65 times & due to some big applications, it will finallt be 70 times

I don't follow rule to devide by 6 because it may be different if any more investor will bidded for higher application. Just calculate Application received in previous highly subscribed IPO BOA.

In bHNI, Subscription to be divided by 5 is because you apply for 10lakhs, & if alloted get shares worth of 2 lakhs. So bhni subscription divided by 5 is comparable to shni.

I think BHNI 1:20 or BHNI 1:13 seems too high. May i know on what basis you estimating this high?. Comparing with Electronics Mart - 500 cr IPO size also - had BHNI 1:11/12 . EMIL had gmp of 50%. Here less than 50% gmp and more IPOs overlapping along and hence funds issue.
Would like to know you guys reasoning for estimating much higher BHNI . My estimate BHNI - 1:9/10 , SHNI 1:70.

@SamJos , I think you forget about billionaire 😄 who applied upto 1cr also for single application in BHNI then how you can calculate by devide 5.

3 bhni does not make big difference in allotment, & if at unique number, you might not have chance in lottery.
So why not go minimum bhni in all mainboard ipo, & give fair chance to Ladyluck to shower blessing on you.

Can u clerify more on unique number concept?? And is it different for mainline ipo and SME ipo?? As I have seen in other forum of this group to fight over applied lot size..

@samjos. i have 3 different pan numbers. so i asked whether to go 3bhni for dcx or hold one for bikaji.

If you look at BoA of past IPOs, as you go higher up in number of shares, at certain number, there might be 1-2-3-4-5 applicants but none is alloted the shares. As already enlightened by senior members, when no of applicants is less than 50% of subscription, such thing happen. So when you are applying as super bHNI but no. of demat accounts is less than 6-8, better to group with someone so that you are not rejected in lottery.
