I agree that it’s not worth the value if you have to put Rs 60Lakh for 1 lot. But if you take loan and apply, it’s worth it. I use my FD’s and without loosing the interest, I apply and get my NII allotments This getting 20-25k profit is not a bad deal without any risk.

Capt Singhji, how do you use FDs to apply ? hv you taken OD on them ? which bank allows applying IPOs on 'available balance' without OD interest ? HDFC doesn't ..

We also would like to know which bank allows marking a lien on FD for IPO application?

Few years back, I used Kotak Bank Online ASBA to apply IPO against my FDs. I am not sure whether Kotak bank is providing the facility now.

How it happened ? Have you approached manager earlier for such facility because it only marks on Savings balance.
Everybody wants to know the bank of CaptSingh.

@HML, it was by default. Just confirm with RM of Kotak Bank.

Team Chittorgarh.com : ICICI BANK is allowed . We are having OD account against FD . and It is linked to saving account . I applied in retails category . when I saw the balance . Amount is reduced from OD account . OD account number is different from saving account number . Bit worried due to account number is differ . I cancelled my bid and re apply with selecting saving account number .

Banks are slowly exploring ways to earn more from these opportunities..I apply through andhra bank(now union bank)..Lately it allowed to apply for an ipo from my od account..This way funds were just getting blocked on the od account and bank was not earning anything on it..Now the bank has disabled the application from od account..So now I have to transfer the funds from od to savings and then apply..

I have my accounts with IDBI bank.
I have my savings account and current accounts with them.
My FD’s are auto sweep into my account and this allows me to use it for my application in NII category. This way I use my FD’s as well as my account banace for application under NII without breaking my FD’s. The lien is marked for the duration of IPO as usual.
Has been working fine for me all the way.

Eagle eye, what is the source of information for application wise subscription? Or is it your guess work?

@Captsingh u say no interest.. but bank provides OD on plus 2% extra on which your fd are booked. If your fd are booked at 6% and your funds for example 60 lakhs are blocked for 7 days then they charge 8% so interest comes around 10k interest.

Application wise retail subscription is around 44x so 1 in 44 applicants will get allotment of one lot. Since there is possibility of 10-15% rejection final figure may 1 in 38 applicants will get allotment of one lot.

Where do you see the news of tcs buyback dates?
