today i will try to explain what is "GREEN SHOE" option is -

1) The term is derived from the fact that the Green Shoe Company was the first to use this type of option.

2) it is an underwriting agreement that gives the underwriter the right to sell investors more shares than originally planned by the issuer. This would normally be done if the demand for a security issue proves higher than expected.

3) in simple words it is a process through which share issuing co tries to stablise the price post listing. it is done by issuing extra shares than the plaaned for ipo and later on if prices falls below ipo price the co start buying upto shares issued under green shoe option from the open market to stablise the price abive ipo price.it is done through underwriters

Dear SJ,

Your posts nowadays are mostly in Hindi.Even though I understand and speak a little bit its tiresome to read your posts & understand.

I am one of your regular readers for past many months and request you to keep your posts in English and may be there are quite a lot of people like me.

I would also request Chittorgarh team to have a survey mechanism (may be like in money control.com for the new ipo issues)to vote for the best analyst etc etc which would reflect the strength of people who read the messages. I am sure SJ & others stalwarts would fare well.This would inculcate a good environment and ofcourse boarders like us would be benefitted by excellent posts.
