Even if you do not have physical share your broker allows you to sell it (you have to keep some advance ) by 3 pm same day you have to cover your short sale , so all short seller were trapped ie they could not make money ie if you sold at 605 and 3pm rate is 618 you loose money , like wise when you buy at rs 605 and sell at 618 at 3pm online only few brokers allow for ipo shares
I understand short selling :) My question is how they were "trapped". Risk is always there in short selling , prices can go up, be it new IPO share or older stocks. BSE Brokers cannot trap :)
sudden SPRUT in HUDCO due to below: http://www.indiainfoline.com/article/news-top-story/hudco-retail-finance-hudco-to-bring-back-retail-home-finance-portfolio-117071000161_1.html
I wanted to hold this till 700 and somehow sold half of the shares at 610 in the hope that it will come down and I''ll buy again but this is running like horse high on weed. Not sure what lies in the future.
I am very much grateful to Eagleye for her contributions on this forum She has lot of information which we as a common people don''t have.she had predicted rightly that this stock though expensive will see higher levels.
Beginners should be little conservatI''ve in approach. sure IPOs are highly likely to give short term returns but I dont think that is the best approach to enter.
Beginners should invest in mutual funds(relatively safer option). Then slowly build your portfolio to include more riskier options like stocks.
I meant , Start with IPO only. Not direct investment in secondary market. can Invest in MF 1st, parallely start trading in market slowly. Dont jump into the market directly.
Dont think its gambling completely :)
