Contrary to the contents of email received from ABCL for shareholder category, ICICI Direct foot note for shareholder & Net IPO offer states as under,
*ABCL shareholders applying through “Shareholder” category up to Rs. 2,00,000/- can also apply in Net offer (Normal IPO) (Retail or Non-Institutional category) and the same shall not be treated as multiple application.
**ABCL shareholders applying through “Shareholder” category more than Rs. 2,00,000/- cannot apply in Net offer (Normal IPO) with Non-Institutional category and the same shall be treated as multiple application and liable to be rejected. Such customers can apply in net offer with Retail category i.e. upto Rs.2,00,000/-.
From the above it is clear that one can apply in retail at both places or one NII(HNI) and one RII(Retail). Both NII (HNI) at both places in not permitted.
Another gentlemen investor had cited his applying in Retail in shareholder and NII(HNI) in IPO in SBI cards. So he is right as per above and turs this input helps.

@ Ou Ai
Thank you for calling me a gentleman investor 😉 Don''t know if that sobriquet is deserved.
With reference to this IPO, I would like to update that HDFC Securities is allowing MAX 2L in Shareholder quota... There is no option to apply for 2L+ in SH quota. Also, in SBI Cards, HNIs were NOT ALLOWED to bid through the SH quota. That was implicitly told to me by the registrar and my RM also.. I guess each IPO has their own methodology. Looking at this IPO, I''m not sure that someone should go all in and apply for 2L in the SH quota also. It''s better to wait for the QIB and NII oversubscription figures tomorrow to get a better idea.

@M.K. Today HDFC securities allowing 2L+ application in SH quota, you will see two drop down options, they have also corrected the options.
@Ou Ai, Thanks, at least now they are now following the RHP.
Yes, checked HDFC Securities, they have updated their systems. Thanks for pointing it out.
@Ou Ai, your observations are correct. For others, have clearly listed ALL the possible combinations allowed :-
1. You can apply in retail UPTO 2L and in SH UPTO / MORE THAN 2L... No restriction on amount in SH quota in this case. It can be a single lot or max permissible lots as per the IPO reservation.
2. You can apply in retail for UPTO 2L and in NII ABOVE 2L
3. You can apply in SH UPTO 2L and in NII ABOVE 2L

@MK Option2 is not possible both in retail and NII. Following are the options
1. Shareholder up to 2 lakhs and IPO Retail up to 2 lakhs
2. Shareholder up to 2 lakhs and IPO NII(HNI) above 2 lakhs
3. Shareholder up to NII(HNI) over 2 lakhs and IPO Retail up to 2 lakhs
Shareholder NII(HNI) over 2 lakhs and IPO NII(HNI) over 2 lakhs not permitted.
Thanks for pointing out the massive mistake I made... Don''t know what I was thinking while typing it out.... And Chittorgarh doesn''t give the option to edit / delete 🙄
Hi All, I have a question. I have 2 Demat accounts Zerodha and Alice Blue for same PAN number. I have shareholder shares in Zerodha. Can i use it to apply shareholder portion with Alice Blue Demat? If not, can i apply shareholder category in Zerodha and RII category in Alice Blue?
Registrar verifies PAN only. You can apply in any of your demat account in any category. There are no restrictions regarding shareholder and RII category. Restrictions are applicable in shareholders and NII combo category. It is considered as multiple application and liable to be rejected. So be careful while applying.
Timing of HDFC AMC promoter selling and HDFC AMC coming down by 7% is an indication that current valuation of AMC is very high and may not be sustainable in short term. With market at precariously high levels, risk averse investors can skip this IPO unless subscription levels again surprise us which is unlikely for such a large IPO.
Absolutely. One needs to also balance allotment probability.
But when one wants to invest for long term, then objective should be to enter at lowest possible price to contain downside risk in holding.
Issue being quite large, listing gains (if any) will be limited. For listing gain or short term, it may be ok to enter at even higher price provided we expect stock to rise significantly in the short term.
At this moment, ABSL seems to be better for long term.
My strategy at this stage will be either of the two below
Short term/ Listing gains: Look to buy only few lots at IPO price. Long term: Look to buy larger no of lots in 650-680 range post listing. (Assuming shares will be allotted at 715 in IPO)
Piramal acquired DHFL. Will mutual funds holding DHFL debt papers get anything in this arrangement? I have some money in a side pocketed mutual fund. So asking. When ask from mutual funds, they use business jargons and their emails and that does not make any sense to lay people like us.
So which funds you are talking about and what they have mentioned? ideally when they get money and Bond, they will increase the NAV if not side pocketed.
If Side pocketed then they will pay amount as per units you have

Side pocketing does not necessarily means that u will receive money in future. MF practice this so that their Fund looks clean. Payment will be made in following preferences 1. Banks 2. FD Holder 3. Secured NCDs 4. Unsecured NCDs
Their resolution amount is equal to 46% of total assets. So it may happen that unsecured NCDs may not receive anything and Secured NCDs and FD holder may receive in proportion, were FD Holders proportion will be higher than NCDs
U will receive payment automatically once they receive the same.
Which is a good idea to apply in retail 1 lot and full application in shareholder? I have heard that in retail it will be a lottery while in shareholder it will be a proportionate basis. So if I apply 14 lots in shareholder and if shareholder category subscribes 5 times than 100% chances of min 2 lot guarantee am I right.
Avoiding this one, even if the re-rating happens in HDFC AMC and CAMS, ABSL will not gain much, hdfc amc and cams will get back their premium in some time soon.

Looks like CarTrade type listing and then performance. No moat. Losing market share are a few things to consider before investing. Risky bet for retail investors IMHO.
Question :- What has been your dividend policy so far and are you going to stick to it going forward as well in terms of shareholder returns?
Answer :- In the last seven, eight years, the profit that has been generated has been disbursed in the form of dividend to both the shareholders – Aditya Birla Capital as well as Sun Life. In fact, in the last seven years, we have distributed Rs 1,000 crore dividend to the shareholders. Going by the past track record, in the future, beyond a certain percentage of net profit will be distributed in the form of dividend subject to board and shareholder approval. The broad range we have been thinking about is 40-50 percent of net profit will be distributed to shareholders.

Going forward any ipo at any valuation will sail through because of huge number of new retail investors.
Can someone guide me as I am not getting a clear picture on how to buy and sell stocks and apply in IPO seamlessly like ICICIDIRECT for NRI in US on non repatriation basis. Just login and buy/sell or apply for IPO by yourself.
Not an issue, in my case i did not faced any issue.

This may not be great IPO for people who applies north ward of more than 10 applications but good issue for those who apply a single application and single lot to prove that they can get allotment
